Took me a little longer than expected (I waited for the act 3 memory leak bug fix in patch 2) but I finally finished the game.

8.5-9 out of 10. Solid experience and I want to replay to see different options. Act 3 was initially almost unplayable for me due to stuttering/lag, but that patch really fixed it.

Random thoughts:

Sweet Jesus the camp inventory system needs a rework. Biggest quality of life issue by far.

Minthara needs to be earnable without costing you 3-4 other companions. Also, you seriously gimp yourself in Act 3 if you help the goblins. You lose access to some amazing end game vendors with the best gear/weapons in the game with nothing to show for it.

2 companions you only really get in Act 3 when stuff is starting to wind down. IMO you should have all of them by the beginning of Act 2.

Voice acting is basically GOAT. Asterion and others being standout roles. I can't think of anything truly bad. Excellent direction as well. Needs to win awards here.

The character development for certain companions is fucking amazing. Lae'zel went from being annoying to one of the best companions. That sunrise scene is wholesome as fuck.

Being able to sell one individual into slavery is of those immensely pleasing game moments. Especially after the game went hard on the woke angle in one big scene. (Can't say much more due to spoilers, but someone in the dev team obviously saw the BS this one character kept spewing and gave the player a way to nip it in the bud if desired.) I'm amazed we haven't seen the usual media subjects go ape shit over it.

Gotta say that I'm a bit envious of everyone with the free time to beat this game. I'm a bit into act 2 right now but I still haven't gone to the towers. Gotta say I still feel like I'm completely retarded and all my character builds are disasters lmao. Feels like I'm never equipped right for any encounters.

Alright, after reading the thread I decided to buy and play it.

We're going for a full dark-side, collect all the std's, slay all the orphans play through.

My character will be named CARLOR. He'll be 18 feet tall and have giant wings, like an angels' but also like a demons'. Carlor can fuck ANYTHING, and he WILL, and HAS! Women, Devils, Angels, Animals! If you meet Carlor online, he will be by Grubb's tavern, he will show you where the treasure is hidden.
IT'S IN HIS PANTS

Did you pick the Dark Urge origin? if not you should pick the Dark Urge origin for this.

??? That's a weird take, everyone knows 5E games pop off AFTER le
vel 5. To have the exact opposite opinion's weird.
That'd be because for the first six levels, you are basically playing the Larian system of surfaces and throwing shit around to cause explosions with a small handful of DND abilities tacked on, and the Larian system is fun. After six levels, the Larian system stops being as relevant and 5e starts to become the more-important part of the mix.

5e is boring. It's way too on-rails for me.

Duh and/or hello.

Carlor DragonCoque is fucking shit up as we speak, up to and including Lae'zel's battle-scarred war-gash. He's a dragonkin fuck machine and HE SHALL NOT BE DETERRED. Soon He shall skewer that faggy elf on his mighty spear so that he lisps no more, THUS IT IS DECREED!

You know, I was never able to play D&D(I got in a group once but we were never able to get beyond setting are characters up), but playing this game solo really makes me want to get three friends together and play it with them. Just to enjoy the randomness that will probably happen.

I did hear the best way to play this is both by yourself and as a group of four.

I know that the level cap is 12 primarily due to 7th level spells and up, but I really hope it's a sign they intend to release expansions or let us continue in a sequel. BG1 took us to level 7 (Possibly 8 if you got every last bit of xp in the game) while BG2 took us roughly to 20 depending on the class and ToB got characters to levels 30-40 by the end. I'd love to at least have that 1-20 experience again without having to replay BG1.

The game has done way to well for them bot to make expansion content at this point if nothing else they can absolutely release more playable races and subclasses but further adventures with a raised level cap has to be on the table

Anyone suggest pre-ordering the PS5 version of BG3? It looks like a solid game overall, though I'm not sure at this point; it's 80$ total for a digital-only purchase, and not being able to return the game - unless I missed something - is kinda concerning.

Anyone think that this game deserves an 80$ price tag?

So is the game worth it? Been debating getting it, but all I'm seeing online is people horny posting about the game and its seriously turning me away from purchasing it.
It's probably the closest thing to something like Dragon Age Origins we've had in years but in light of all the reveals regarding the cut content I'd wait for Larian to fix it first.

Do they turn up often enough?
They're also incredibly easy to craft if you have a supply of Acorn Truffle and some Salt.
And almost all buffs/debuffs stack, and it has BAB so you'll eventually hit.
BAB? This isn't early D&D/Pathfinder.

Powerlevel your builds

Generally as long as you build with optimized stats in mind and search out equipment that directly benefits your intended playstyle you should be fine
