In a world where you can shapeshift into animals, uses spells to race-swap, talk to the dead and be morphed into an octopus alien via a slug in your brain, I can’t imagine changing your gender being treated as a big important thing that would NEED to be commented on.

Hm how would the guards know who shot the tranny if you race swap?

Unless your gear has your name on it and is a strange white hood ghost outfit...

There are literally artifacts in this world that will change your sex.

Best part is in the first game the girdle is basically a bait that you'll likely fall for early in the game because it and another fairly mundane magical belt are in the possession of an ogre. It got me when I was first playing through it back in the day.

Literally made me so mad I looked up how to itemcode in a dispel scroll. I was a spergy little turd.

In the original Balder's Gate, does sex actually do anything related to strength/other attributes in humans? It had had no effect in actual D&D for quite a long time.

If you can play it on PC, it's better on PC, once you get tired of the base game you can add shit like mods and whatnot to change the gameplay.
You can also just pirate it first to see if it's your cup of tea, then wait to see if they actually add the cut shit in later or not.

Unfortunately, my PC completely sucks; I probably would be able to play it, bit by bit, but it would probably take me the better part of a month to make any decent progress.

If you're not chomping at the bit for it, I'd give it a couple months, maybe until the holidays, let them put out some patches and see how that develops. Or wait until next year for the possibility of a definitive/special/GOTY edition rerelease.

I do admit, I am really wanting to give it a shot, but I'm also hesitant at paying 80$ for a game that I won't be able to play all that often; mostly because of both my day job and other games that I need to play. So, as great as the game looks right now, I'll go ahead and wait for the price to drop a bit.

Speaking of, I noticed that the OS2 Definitive Edition now has "from the creators of Baldur's Gate 3" in its blurb, which is clever. Officially graduated from "the Divinity guys" to "the Baldur's Gate guys."

Never could get too far into OS2; not that it was a bad game, mind, just didn't quite grab my attention. I'll probably go back and give it another shot one day.

I found the tranny. The whole thing went as you might expect - underground, in a secret cult where a dark god is worshiped and every other single cultist attacked one single member is left out and as soon as I heard the voice I just knew. This one has to be protected and is special, so it is going to leave after this - nah, I shot it with a sneak attack arrow... why should it get away with the same thing everyone else I killed did?

I gotta remember to do this once I get the game...

Guess what happened next... In this secretive underground cultist base 4 fucking city guards literally spawned out of nowhere to accost me for murder after I literally just killed like 25 cult members on the previous room. This was probably a glitch, but it was hilariously apt.

Yeah, probably a glitch, but... let's face it; in the modern day, you never can quite tell with devs.

Still, at least they let you actually kill the tranny, instead of making them immortal like in other games.

Pretty sure it only matters for roleplay purposes... Characters react differently to different genders. Its been a while since I played that game though.

Its purely aesthetic. Even if you put it on your character or another companion they keep the same voice, stats, and portrait. Its just a small gag item that can be easily dispelled and then tossed aside since its cursed garbage that latches to whoever you put it on.

BG1 didn't have much in the way of sophisticated stuff like that. I'm pretty sure the original only had a couple of actual charisma checks which made it borderline useless.

Doing an evil playthrough sucks so much that I just restarted. You get locked out of so much content and so many companions that it's not worth it unless you're playing co-op with friends. My friend and I decided to do a Dark Urge playthrough when we both have time.

It just sucks because I expected Larian to cut corners since it's so labor intensive to add new content (apparently Nere and Kagha might've been potential companions?). The original BG games were so much fun because you had such a wide variety of characters *sigh* At least combat is still fun, though 5E still sucks. The environments are really well done and the game gives me some nice Dragon Age Origin vibes. I just don't think I'll replay it solo until they at least attempt to restore some cut content.

You know I just realized Astarion and Ember from wrath of the righteous are about the same age, I wonder what an interaction between them would look like.

For reference there is an archdemon in Pathfinder (essentially a god) of succubusses. Ember kinkshamed her into being the god of redemption instead, because she's such a nice person.
That's right. A literal elf child made the god of thottery repent.

Also yes, Astarion is also a literal child in elf years, so that explains why he's such a bitch.

I played with a friend yesterday. Made a nigger joke and we both had a laugh. Also, female gythianki, if using mask or spell, has a dick
The mask is really unique, if your friends give you the time, you can customize each race during character creation and it'll save whatever you made onto the mask. You can also use it to bypass size requirements like the small holes only the smaller races can access. Terrible in combat though, for whatever reason, it disables all of your reactions regardless of whether or not you have them toggleable.

Its unfortunate that like... years ago that artifact might have been played for laughs. Like "ok here is a 5 minute gag where the brawny barbarian guy puts on the gender swap belt".

Now you'd have tranies screaming that its appropriation. But then again, fetishizing moments like that was the gateway to their pathology.

It is always funny to me how trannies love to cram their oppression fantasy into fantasy worlds. Like as people say there's magic everywhere that can bring back the dead and make you grow wings. but somehow daddy is mad you don't want to be a girl. So much of the trans shit is locked into adolescent rebellion.

Fixes being unable to access some of Minthara’s dialogue(apparently she gets very yandere if you get close to other party members) along with a bunch of other bugs and issues.
I always thought something weird was going on with her it seemed like she had no content compared to the rest of the companions. It was almost a game breaking issue to me you have to get rid of so many other companions to get her and in return she's just kind of boring I'm very glad to see they fixed this.

HA I remembering falling for that belt as well during my first playthrough. It took me forever to figure out how to take the thing off I think I was a female for like half the game lol.

I actually stopped playing the game on the evil route because of that stuff as well. It's a shame they don't really have any specials evil companions (other then Minthara) or anything like most other RPGs have. I kind of think they should've just not had a evil route at all and just focused on the good one which is way better. I regret choosing the evil route for my first playthrough so much.

Well tbh evil runs ate usually better left for subsequent playthroughs usually the good end is the best way to go on your first time

So, I just "downloaded" this game and it's good.
The only downside is that it's fucking boring without playing with friends.
All of my irl friends are too poor to buy. I would love to play with fellow farmers, but that would require me to take extra precautious to prevent bad opsec.
