My sword-and-board paladin is the #1 most accurate swinger in the party - there's a set of gloves early on that give you advantage if there are 2 (or more) enemies around you: Which in my case meant he's been having advantage for pretty much the entire game. With divine sense and vow of enmity, that tends to extend to bosses and other single targets as well.

Larian games have been mod friendly, so I'm hoping someone fixes at some point.

Also Karlach best companion, I will die on that hill.
I ended up using corpsegrinder because the life stealing sword was way too conditional and the enemies always won saving throws whenever I'd use shield bash the entire game. Had to use a warhammer to actually hit anything. Don't remember ever seeing those gloves when I looted his throne stash. Though bugs like that are not unheard of for this game.

In Wrath of the Righteous (and most earlier CRPGs), the combat is boring and verymuch like pulling teeth - dispel, dispel, dispel, cheese, cheese, cheese. The fun in those games is building a completely busted character that eventually (and after the dispel bot uses dispel magic) shits on everything, and in the roleplaying aspect
Yeah I am playing both BG3 and WotR right now and I have to agree. The latter has been painful and I find many of the enemies are over-tuned and the item distribution unbalanced . So far BG3 itself is easy but fun. Dialogue options are ok but I haven't gone too far. Do appreciate that I get special options depending on my class, that's pretty neat. Funny being a little under gnome running around with biggers, be funnier when I start spawning undead 3x my height.

The ending was very lackluster. Just imagine Mass effect 3's ending but even worse.
To be fair to Baldur's Gate 3 at least the devs didn't overpromise with their endings. Plus, if you make the rights choices at the end you can get a happy ending for your character which is more than you can say for your character in Mass Effect 3. Also, at least there is a little more variety with the Baldur's Gate 3 ending instead of just picking a different color.

There's a mod that turns true strike and blade ward into a bonus action. So that's nice. I usually cycle between each because blade ward get's a 2 turn duration with the mod.
Add every crit booster and you should crit pretty often since they all stack FOR SOME REASON.

I have a few very rare items equipped that boost crit rate and it explicitly states this effect can stack. Had better luck just chugging potions and coating weapons in poison to land all of my crits. Which do stack with the gear bonus btw. "

This game is in dire need of more nice knight and archer helmets. Since the only decent designs are found in the shar cult shrine in act 3 where they have every non-legendary model of helmet there as common items. I really thought the dollar store sauron was the dumbest thing ever, the Grymskull helmet. But at least you can hide them. Angelic plume helmets are nowhere to be seen outside of here and all the guards have the exact same 1-2 loadouts. Maybe some randomization was planned but scrapped?

Also dumb how transmogs aren't a thing with consumable dyes. In D&D. Where people would paint their miniatures IRL. It's like making consumable color items in a WH40K game. It makes zero sense and is one of the more questionable design choices Larian made.

I became a 3 MNK/12 Warlock since I modded the level cap to 15, and by that I mean that the total XP from the entire campaign was only enough for that. And Monk gear is so scant I'm now an alcoholic that starts spewing electricity everywhere (since electric charges are the ONLY thing that buffs every attack, not just melee)

After I finish the game I'm gonna go replay as bhaalman maybe. After I do a few things in runescape i guess.

in mass effect's defense it was shepard's story, not yours, and any story needs to end at some point (hopefully before it turns to complete shit, which happens when it runs too long..)

For anyone complaining about the facial presets, I've found you get far less niggerface and metrosexual if you go Dwarf or Halfing. Dwarf, especially. Very robust. I made a Gold Dwarf, Draconic Sorc for The Dark Urge:

After playing through a bit, there's a central issue with the story is that there's no underlying purpose as to why anyone is following the MC. Not a damn thing.

I was thinking this along the same lines as KotoR I and II, the Neverwinter Nights series, and Baldur's Gate I and II. There was always something governing the reasons as to why your followers would ever follow you. Maybe they were mercenaries you hired, but maybe others joined because they saw the value in your mission. KotoR II even had some meta commentary on this where your companions followed you primarily because the Force willed them to do so.

Hell, even if you interact with things beyond the PC, even other NPCs seems to recognize you are the leader and will promptly dismiss your companions and defer to you instead. There's no story explanation for this other than it just seems to be what's expected in this type of game.

BG3 has the whole tadpole thing going on, but there's never really anything that happens ferments why your character needs to be the leader or why any of the other hosts need you. If anything, it makes more sense for Lae'zel to be the one in charge simply because Gith are so knowledgeable about this stuff to begin with. I almost feel like the base story was made for her character.

LMAO! From what I read Gale (not Astarion which shocked me) is the worst culprit of this. According to players befriending companions is really hard because for some reason they think being friendly means you want to fuck. Have a strong feeling that romance triggers will be modded out.

I'm telling ya, the devs and writers for this game are kinds of people who keep pushing for the intersectionality of cultural norms and behaviors but continually show they're the worst sexual offenders. These people don't understand love or romance. All they understand is the human capacity to orgasm.

That or the romances were made by horny women. You have to understand that women today are so coom brained that they do not understand things like platonic friendships. It has been that way since I was in high school. Whenever a girl zonked out of her mind on Yaoi and Yuri fiction would see two people of the same sex, often males, being kind and friendly with each other, the first thing that comes to their mind is; "OMG! They are so in love! They so want to butt fuck each other! *Squeal*"
There is a reason why many women today, in contrast to men, do not have a lot of friends if at all. To them friendship is either sexualized or there is no such a thing as friendship. Everyone just wants to fuck each other. C.S Lewis used to say that there is no being more pitiful than one who can not comprehend friendship.

It's like the devs are autistic incels that think being nice to someone means you want to fuck them, and then put the "let's fuck" button on literally page 1 of their fucking chat dialogue, sometimes as option one. Or option 4, which is the default option when skipping dialogue, so one moment you're listening to some literal manchild of a vampire bitch about you being too nice, and the second you're either fucking them or killing them while pressing skip. There's no inbetween.

Speaking of, anyone else annoyed by how they handled custscenes? You can literally skip them mid dialogue because some retard put the "skip" flag in the middle of some old bitch complaining about shitting herself or whatever jaheira turned into.

So would you guys say that the game is deserving of its 97 score on Metacritic, and the multiple predictions for it being GOTY?
Honestly, not really. It is a good game but being rated higher then Baldur's Gate 1 and 2? No way. While I would like to see a CRPG win GOTY, I honestly don't think it will. Tears of the Kingdom will probably get it. If not Nintendo Todd Howard will probably get another GOTY under his belt. Larian did a lot to build up hype and fanfare for this game but they fail to estimate the hype and fanbase that Bethesda has when it comes to their titles. Which is why I say Baldur's Gate 3 will be forgotten next month when Starfield comes out. Starfield will have a more dedicated fanbase and modding community behind it which will help Starfield in terms of replayablity.

quick reminder that dragon age inquisition won GOTY.

which reminds me, with all the faggotry now I can't wait how bioware is gonna reply to larian stepping in on their turf writing for manchildren and fujos. I fully expect in dreadwolf walking in on a random erect qunari dick starts an unskippable cutscene where you have to suck it in POV, complete with bioware's animation talent which is below the average SFM modder...
