Awful food you love - Guilty pleasures galore

Though I consider bacon to be a favorite staple of my diet, hog jowls are even better. They have a much deeper, richer flavor than bacon. They can be hard to find some times.

I also like to cover saltine crackers in cheese with a slice of summer sausage or salami and melt it in the microwave.

Agree with the above, Spam is highly underrated. Grilled Spam with BBQ sauce is a treat.

Canned Vienna sausages, specifically the emasculated North American version that are maybe 2 inches long. Made out of mechanically separated chicken and other questionable meat products, a tasty high sodium treat you can eat right out of the can. Make sure to not refrigerate the sausages because the aspic will congeal and you won't have any tasty weiner water to wash down your sausages 👌

Chicken livers, hearts, gizzards. Vegetables with fatback. Damn, I’m a Southerner, everything I eat is ‘bad.’ But as far as processed foods go, Suddenly Salad (especially ranch & bacon), Red Baron pizzas, baked Lay’s chips. I like going to Taco Bell just for the occasional Baja Blast, and some spicy potato soft tacos. I like taters.

Spam is fuckin delicious and for some reason only hawaiians seem to get it. I will defend spam to the grave.
You and James May.

On a related note, I love a nice ham steak with a pineapple ring on top. Preferably served with mashed potato, peas and carrots.

Fun fact: In some parts of Australia, these are known as "little boys".

Potato chips actually aren't that bad on cream cheese bagels
I like everything bagels with whatever kind of sweet flavored cream cheese they have at a bagel place, usually strawberry or honey. I've had people call it gross but it has that really nice sweet, salty and savory combination.

I used to love strawberry cream cheese on bagels, and I say that as I haven't had it in like 8-10 years.

For me, the hungry man southern fried chicken dinners are my fave. NEED to be made in an oven, taste like shit half the time, too much fucking sodium for somethin that tastes like absolutely nothing, but god I love those.

Also Chocolate covered potato chips, and pizza rolls dipped in hotsauce and ranch are a god send.

I will go to bat for Vienna sausages all day. I'm not even 100% sure they are real meat, but damn...I used to love those.

Also another vote for Spam.

It was a popular food among GIs in WWII headed for the Pacific theater, and stuck there.

People are grossed out when I say I like spam. They don't know what they're missing.
Yeah - any Japanese Kiwis might want to correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it's quite popular over there as well.

Spam fritters are a big thing in fish and chip shops over here - I've never eaten spam in my life and (excuse the powerlevel) my ancestry means that my heart pumps batter instead of blood, but I can't bring myself to buy a fritter!

Aldi (own brand) frozen sausage rolls, four to a box for 85p. They’ve got to be made from sawdust and snouts, but they take 25 minutes in the oven, and there’s something very pleasing about them. A stripe of brown sauce or ketchup across the top after 10 minutes cooling time, and lunch for a little under 50p, and a reward for doing the cleaning before playing video games. Don’t even have to go to Greggs.
Or Berlinki polish hotdogs, in those shitty white finger rolls, heated up for 30 seconds in the microwave. They’re close in texture to those tinned/ jarred Vienna sausages, but so much better, and seem to have less mechanically separated chicken
When in the states, far too much cool whip on Vons apple pie. That fatty mouthfeel with slightly soggy pastry. Those lurid sugar cookies from the grocery store, or Costco sheet cake.

I fucking love omasum. Get that honeycomb tripe shit out of my face.

My go-to for condiments is either vinegar or worcestershire sauce. It's something about the texture that really speaks to me.

I love pickled shit. These things are great but I think it's the kind of thing everyone has seen in a 711 and thought it was disgusting without ever trying it, and maybe it is! I love em though.

Mac and Cheese is pure carbs, cholesterol, and fat, but made fresh (even Kraft Dinner is ok for me) is oh-so-good.

Anyone that says spam is gross has never had it. It looks gross and the premise of it is gross, but slice it up thin and fry it in a pan and it's fucking incredible.
Fried Spam + Sunnyside Up Egg + Instant noodles is another comfort favorite for me, there was a local diner that made one version with a distinctly unique broth, and it was simple but satisfying. Can't seem to replicate it though, unfortunately...

skittles

they're absolute cancer, literally made of nothing but sugar and artificial flavorings, but something about the gross uber-sweet taste makes me crave them

All modern candy is literally just that, you might get 'natural juices' if you're lucky. IMO, it's the slight sour/tangyness in some Skittles flavors that sets it apart from the 'just sweet' candies out there.
