Well no voice chat options is kind of a negative. I get it for pub games where you're with randoms but if it was a game with some friends or usual teammates, voice is useful for planning out.
For instance in a game like Left 4 Dead 2, the infected players would probably need a battle plan for all four of them to create a situation like say, "Charger bash through survivors, smoker drag someone the other way, spitter make an acid puddle between straggler and caught victims and jockey to add a lil' extra confusion"
That would need voice chat. It's in all those other games because it's a massively convenient tool for forming a strategy.
(also, @Curt Sibling would that be our old pal Carl in that comic? He always was the best thing to come out of Dobson's puked out webcomic.)
Probably insanely late in asking, but has anyone here read Alex ze Pirate? I'm struggling to figure out what the plot is. Thinking of trying to give it an overhaul for the hell of it.
The hamfisted ways Dobson does including things he thinks is progressive is just strange and it's pandering at its best and offensive at its worst.
You go through all of Harry Potter and then find out Dumbledore is gay from J.K Rowling. And it makes sense. So many characters, one's gotta be gay, turns out its Dumbledore. Doesn't change anything cause the book's about magic and shit.
You go through Alex ze Pirate and believe me, Dobson really wants you to know they're this, that and the other. Like their whole lives have been altered by what they're attracted to, and how great Dobson is for representing them. The only next step for Dobson to take to get even more ridiculous is tell us the 'ze' in Alex ze Pirate actually refers to her new 'ze/zer/zeir' pronouns.
To be somewhat fair on him, though, he's not the only one who thinks that writing homosexuals depends entirely on clichés and blurting out their sexuality every five minutes. As Dobson is not a writer, I can easily see why he'd be under that (mistaken) impression - he's most likely not that familiar with putting himself in the shoes of someone with a completely different lifestyle (or, debatably, anyone's).
None of that's an excuse to not accept criticism about your shitty writing, though.
That's a fair point. The only thing is, does Dobson even try to get to know anyone in the homogay community?
Making assumptions about lesbians for as long as he's been drawing is a really poor excuse for having shitty characters.
But we all know the answer: Dobby has no friends and doesn't want to put in any effort towards anything other than sucking at Splatoon.
All Dobby cares about these days is Splatoon. Not a surprise that squid loli shooting each other with ink until they explode appeals to him, but he can't even be arsed to draw that. On second thought, maybe it's good Splatoon has no voice chat. Dobson's heavy breathing over the game would be distracting.
(I don't have a scanner in my apartment, bear with me.)
I tried a couple times to emulate the pose Dobson drew, but I wasn't happy after like, three attempts, so I changed the poses completely so that it looks like they're getting hype over owning some motherfuckers or something.
Admittedly I'm complete shit at drawing guns. I also have no idea what they're standing on. Mostly I just wanted to draw Stitch looking like he's not just blankly staring ahead with his arms spread. And not give him creepy fish lips.
I think Dobson was going for some weird mix Rocket's comic and movie costumes, since he gave Rocket the red gloves he has sported in the comics but also seemed to base the jumpsuit on the on Rocket wears in the movie. One or the other, Dobby, pick one.
Man, how is it that two people can express an opinion that I would normally agree with (having an FPS that's accessible to all ages and doesn't have brown and bloom and emphasizes GRITTY REALISM is pretty cool) can go and make me feel like arguing against them just for how they express it.

I got the game two days ago and have probably put 4-5 hours into it, and am at level 8. I'm not that great at vidya, either, so if it's taking Dobbles so long to level up, he has to be terrible.

In fact, playing like it's COD would be detrimental. Splatoon is about area coverage, not kills. So just camping in a corner is pretty much a guaranteed loss. Maybe he's trying to be like Wu and doing his best to make a major fuckup that proves he never knows what in hell he's blathering about every tweet?

Wow, would have never guessed that Dobson was working on new stuff to share. Dobson fails to realize that his more successful dA peers on Patreon put out new content on a near daily basis. But he can't bothered to put in the effort since it takes away from obsessing over Splatoon, Twitter, lesbians, Wu and whatever other insignificant thing that fascinates him
Case in point -
He is down to 32 patrons and 86 dollars, losing the support of two patrons and four dollars.
When a body doesn't want to tackle a task, (In Dobson's case, art) they will find meaningless crap to focus on instead...This is what we see Andrew doing currently.
