With Dobson obsessing over Splatoon, anyone else getting uncomfortable or already are?
Yup. I actually was thinking about getting the game, but his constant defending of the game from no one is starting to grate on my nerves.

That and his repeated usage of the phrase "family friendly" like it's a badge of honor.

He definitely has a persecution complex when it comes to pop culture (probably just culture generally, I guess, I just never see him mention any non-pop culture). He's most comfortable defending something against vague, hypothetical haters - although ironically, actual haters make him very uncomfortable. But this is why he constantly returns to controversies nobody else cares about anymore to insist he was right all along (Other M, the Wii being a kid's system, etc etc).

You forgot about the dumbest one of all: Link's hair colour.

I honestly got the impression that he pretended to care about it just to be controversial. Except no-one cared.

It's bizarre how these things work out, it's usually adults that obsess over Nintendo games aimed at kids and kids who obsess over COD which is aimed at adults.

It sounds like Dobson is just bad at the game to be honest.

And we've got that weird reality with Nintendo games for kids: the people playing them the most are adults. All the actual kids are playing Call of Duty.

I guess it has to do with the fact that kids wants to be adults so hard and wish to do adult stuff, so COD being about war, guns, shooting each other is "appealing" to their interests... on the other side, adults no longer care and some of them wish to be kids again or are simply trying to find ways to get some easy going fun, so games like COD, Battlefield, etc, are of no interest to them because it's "boring", instead, something colorful, easy to play and relaxing (most of the "aimed at kids" games) is what they like the most.
Also, there's this little test we like to do in paintball (yeah, a sport I like to practice), were we can spot COD kids easily because they make really stupid mistakes and normally they are the first to quit because "getting hit hurts" so yeah, kids do COD because it's edgy, not because they really like the game or the style at all.
Ha, he already lost a Patreon. I wonder if he'll be playing Splatoon so much he'll forget (or ignore as he always does) all his deadlines and when he goes back, his Patreon is at zero... I'd love to see his face when that happens.

People who think they've got something to prove to the world and argue with imaginary enemies are lovely to watch.

You can just feel the smug self-satisfaction oozing from every word and overpowering the inherent crippling embarassment.
Andy's especially entertaining with how utterly distanced he is from the way things actually are. He probably still thinks everyone on the internet is sperging over how Sephiroth is the best villain ever.

Then he'll proceed to bitch on Twitter about people not supporting him.

"WHY YOU GAIS NOT SUPPORT ME? I'M THE BEST ARTIST OUT THERE DAMN IT!" -Dobson after his Patreon reaches zero.

I think it would be more like, "I KNOW I'M NOT THE BEST ARTIST OUT THERE, BUT I TRY REALLY HARD! REALLY REALLY HARD! IT'S NOT EASY PICKING UP A PENCIL WHEN I'M SO DEPRESSED AND SET UPON BY VICIOUS TROLLS! ANYONE WHO DOESN'T SUPPORT ME IS CLEARLY A HOMOPHOBIC MISOGYNIST GAMER GATE NAZI WITH NO HUMAN DECENCY!"

Yes, they play it exactly like Call of Duty.

Or Halo.

Or Quake.

Or Goldeneye.

Or pretty much any of the countless shooters that came out before Call of Duty. You know, the games that set the groundwork for the genre - of which Splatoon is a part. Idiot.

Dobby could learn one or two things from, what I suppose it's the most payed artist trough patreon (AND IT'S PER 2 WEEKS), I mean holy shit. And this girl almost daily publishes something, and her rewards are filled with tutorials, psd. files and so on.

Dobby step up that game will ya (and by game I don't mean Splatoon) *sigh*

I've seen her work on dA. A lot of it is fanart of a very similar type to Dobson's work, except that all of Dobson's work sucks.

She's also way too talented to be drawing fanart holy shit. But whatever pays the bills I guess.

She has really distinctive style and she actually improved a lot since she started Patreon, mostly with venturing into fan art that isn't strictly anime based. She still has bit of that face syndrome, but then, that's not rare for good portion of artists.

I also agree she should do more original, however people dig fan art like, a lot. :V
