Nothing is ever Dobby's fault, is it? What a crappy way to live.

It is not my fault!
I am not to blame!
It is the Japs whose work taints all I work for fame.
It's not my fault!
It's in gods plan!
He will strike down the trolls cause I am no sexist man!

Come on. We all know that Hellfire would be Dobson's Diney song.

Hypocrite Dobson

I hate when people use photosets out of context. In context, Leslie shot something before Ron did and then Ron got shot in the back of the head. It's not like Leslie did anything better than Ron, it's just her saying it because she's an oblivious character. Here Dobby is portraying it like its serious. And no matter who you are, you cannot be Ron Swanson.

He does a rush job when it comes to coloring.
https://youtube.com/watch?v=DWcTPenpN2EHe uses multiple layers but for some reason he insists on using paint bucket inside the lines within the same layer. While painting in one layer is not impossible, the way he does it is a hassle because of the jagged lineart.
Also, shading shouldn't be done with transparent black. It never really looks good.

Oh, jeez. The shading shouldn't be that dull or dark.

It's amazing to watch Dobson flounder about. By technical skill, he's better than a lot of comic artists that are more famous than him (Awkward Zombie, CAD, Explosm to name a few) but he just doesn't have what they do. While Buckley has his own set of problems, he can sort of keep his work topical and relevant and he occasionally works with his community. Katie of AZ is a huge part of her webcomic community and she gives her work a lot of character, through humor and through the interactions of her characters with each other. Explosm has their shock comedy and simplicity in design that allows them to pump out new comics that are occasionally really funny and Rob is a cool guy to talk to on the forums.

Dobby doesn't need to really improve his art skills to compete with these people. He just needs to drop the SJW bullshit and become a community guy, kind of like how he almost was years ago. But that takes effort, he already trashed his reputation, and he dug himself so deep in the pit that there isn't a ladder to get him out.

Well its not really technical skill that's the problem with his comic's art. The problem is more that he's unable to consolidate his skills into something aesthetically appealing. Stuff like Explosm takes pretty little skill to do, but people are still attracted to it because it's art is clear, simple, and enjoyable to look at. Compare that to Dobson's lumpy, wrinkled, deformed figures and muddy coloring, and most people would find Explosm easier on the eyes. If doesn't plan to hone his technical skills to a level where is ruddy art style is actually palatable, he needs to work on his style so that it can actually hide or diminish his artistic shortcomings.

there is also the problem that Dobson's work always feels kind of mean spirited, insulting, pointless or judgemental on a subconscious level.

Like in SYAC you always get the feeling he tries to slutshame you for being a man, because some idiots on a convention do something sexist and he has to rant in a way that feels as if he hates on you while he himself is so much better for being outraged about it.
