Hmm... I distinctly remember in that one "NINTENDO ISN'T LIKE MY CARTOONS" whinefest he was complaining about Link looking "girly"

Lemme guess he's gonna claim he was doing a rule 63 of Link and we're all morons for not seeing it. Even though concept art for one (or a female relative) already existed and doesn't look like that.

I never thought I would say that, but Dobson should go back to the days where he ripped of Rumiko Takahashi. At least back then Atea did not look like a deformed dwarf in terms of the face.

After thinking about it for a little while, I think I realize why this drawing looks so ugly. It's because it appears as though Dobson tried to mix Links appearances in the cartoons from the 90's where he has more realistic, boyish features, and the actual games where he has a sorta androgynous prettyboy look. That or he's following in Wu's footsteps and is declaring Link to be a MtF trans person.

(Trying to catch up) that's the thing. Not only that, but there are a lot of kids and people like me who wants to be scared by something and we love and respect it. I remembered when I was little like very little, I used to be scared of certain stop motion animation, like Tim Burton's films, but I begin to embrace it and love the creepy yet light-hearted style that he put in Corpse's Bride for example. Guillermo Del Moro for example, his films have creepy environment yet have a sense of wonder and fantasy into it. The bad ending of Undertake made the game even more scary if you decide to do the genocide run. This is why I love dark fantasy stuff such as Dark Souls and Berserk. It's not about jumpscares like Paranormal Activity that scares people for kicks, but how it gives you a sense of mystery and twists that you wonder about. Not only be scared, but surprised. This is why many people like to be scared. (Sorry for my rambling)

If Dobson wants to be very special light-hearted guy who likes cutesy cutsy things, then he's a bigger pussy.

If we're honest most art fags draw porn of shit at some point for gratification. Rebecca Sugar, Steven Universe' creator, used to post Ed Edd N Eddy porn online. It's at the point that most people in the industry don't give a shit if you draw porn, as long as you are an adult about it and realize that shit doesn't really belong in an open critique meet or gallery. He would have been better of when caught in the Catty N thing to just go "ok you got me, I just wanted to keep that stuff out of my professional umbrella by using a pseudonym cause I know it's too weird for most people to want to see if they search me up." but his ego had him deny the whole thing and that just makes potential art directors skim right over you since you can't even be honest under pressure.

To be fair, even people with fetishes have their own standards. If they find your fetish far more creepy than theirs or far more unusual (normal pregnancy vs hyper pregnancy with dragon eggs for example), then you're definitely going too far.

And Dobson's stuff are already far more unusual.

Why not illustration? That would've helped him loads more. I'm completely baffled that he went for animation yet gives up on trying to be good at animating.
 
His Link is just a mash up of Alex and Atea, freckles and elf ears and all. So if you ever wondered what horrible creature they would bear if they could conceive children there you go.

Yes, I thought Mickey looked rather good too! The other stuff, though... I remember some Kiwi saying that Dobson couldn't decide whether he wanted to stick with his original anime-influenced style, or try for a more Western-looking style - is that the reason his stuff is so uncanny valley? As someone who knows next to nothing about cartooning, I can't work out what the problem is... Does he simply not have the technical chops to draw anything remotely realistic?
