If I had to take a guess I'd say the inflation/popping thing is a hybrid of bdsm tenancies and either transformation fetish or balloon fetish. I honestly find it odd that he can't pinpoint what in childhood might have started that since most kink people I know or have read about have had very clear "aha!" moments about when that kind of thing gave them a boner first. It kind of points to either Dobs lying to his girlfriend about not knowing, or the thing having developed later in life after getting bored of normal porn and finding it online.

If we're honest most art fags draw porn of shit at some point for gratification. Rebecca Sugar, Steven Universe' creator, used to post Ed Edd N Eddy porn online. It's at the point that most people in the industry don't give a shit if you draw porn, as long as you are an adult about it and realize that shit doesn't really belong in an open critique meet or gallery. He would have been better of when caught in the Catty N thing to just go "ok you got me, I just wanted to keep that stuff out of my professional umbrella by using a pseudonym cause I know it's too weird for most people to want to see if they search me up." but his ego had him deny the whole thing and that just makes potential art directors skim right over you since you can't even be honest under pressure.

I've seen worse artists hired as art assistants where their main job is just cleaning up errors or clean up higher artist's work for print. He could have had work in a job like that with his education really easily. He's not a great artist, but he could still have been hired in a low level art position if his personality were right and he were willing to use it as an opportunity to listen to editors and directors and grow. Most directors would rather have an enthusiastic if underwhelming assistant than an ego driven perfectionist. Dobs is neither, being an underwhelming ego driven perfectionist.

Even Jim Davis is a stretch at this point, when someone started shopping Garfield out of the comics to make it just about John's crippling lack of social skills he signed off for it to get published and wrote the forward. Dobs would have thrown a tantrum.

And that's what I don't get, Dobson easily could have been in the animation industry, yet figured the only way to do so was to be perfect (in his mind). And here he is today, a sad sack getting his ass handed to him by complete strangers over the internet and drawing terrible art, or terrible lesbo porn disguised as art.

Garfield is boring and hasn't had a reason to exist for at least 20 years, but Jim Davis is energetic and produces. He also has a limitless talent for self promotion and marketing, which is why he's the wealthiest syndicated cartoonist alive with a net worth of something like $800 million.

Dobbo is a guy who takes a month to make a fucking wallpaper for his Patreon morons, and even then, he's usually late.

There's no real comparison.

Some people apparently find Garfield funny.
