If going to a diner I might get Pancakes or a Western Omelet but my go to is usually Over Easy Eggs, Toast, Bacon or Sausage, & Home Fries/Hash Browns (Whichever is offered) and a Coffee and an OJ. If not that hungry might grab a Danish with Coffee.

My at home breakfast is usually 2 Eggs Scrambled with Fresh Spinach cooked with them, Sliced Fresh Tomato, Wheat Toast, and a Greek Yogurt or Overnight Oats and Greek Yogurt. Occasionally I'll have a healthy cereal if feeling lazy and I don't have oats prepared or homemade oatmeal in the winter. Also, I only drink coffee at home no juice unless I'm replacing the Tomato with V8 sometimes. At home I try to keep it healthy so when I go to a diner which is not often, I have the breakfasts I occasionally miss.

Dox your diner breakfast order.
My ideal:

Coffee
2 eggs over easy
Rye toast
Hash browns
Country fried steak

In practice, I would usually go for bacon if it's a simple egg/potato/meat/toast order. Since moving out to PA Dutch country I've developed a liking for scrapple.

Coffee
Biscuits & gravy (if available)

Or

Greek Omelet or interesting house omelet (that doesn't have onions or bell peppers in it)

Or

Grits and eggs over easy (which I then mix together)

Eggs Benedict (with double Hollandaise sauce)
& Potatoes O'Brien (with onions and bells peppers innit)

Or

Eggs Over Medium w/Buttered toast (whitebread)
& Sausage Links

YES I WANT A GLASS OF ICED WATER!!!! THANKYOUVERYMUCH

Hash Browns, overcooked.
Corned beef hash, crisp.
Eggs, runny as hell.
White toast, cut into triangles, something like butter melting on them.
Burnt coffee in a slight too small mug, a dish of creamers.
Drown everything in cholula.
The taste of last night's liquor in the back of your throat.
Overtip the waitress on your way out.

I still go to Waffle House every so often with my father, if that counts. It's nice.
I remember going there after I got out of the hospital a few years ago and it was like an Auschwitz prisoner getting Red Cross rations. Amazing.
Dox your diner breakfast order.

Cup of coffee
2 eggs over medium
White toast
Hash Browns
Country Ham

Cover the whole thing in syrup, because the only good calories are more calories.
Cup of coffee, with cream & no sugar
Eggs, scrambled
Grits (plain)
Bacon
2 pieces of white toast with butter

Coffee
Hashbrowns
Bacon egg and cheese on toast.
Waffle House does a pretty ok burger too, depending on the region.

My FIL swears by tomato gravy on biscuits.

Diners are the best.

Eggs (over hard, I'm weird)
Home fries (some places call them obriens)
Fruit
Wheat or rye toast
OJ
Coffee

Perfect.

I'm usually not a breakfast eater, but breakfast at the diner means it's going to be a very good day. I also love a good late night breakfast at all-night diners, but they seem to be a dying breed.

I hesitate to dox my favorite diner, but here goes- Lou Mitchell's in Chicago. It is an absolute must when I'm in town. It's over 100 years old. They make everything there. The bread, the pastries, the orange marmalade on the table. They source their own brand of coffee. No rehydrated hash browns here, they're fresh sliced breakfast potatoes. They double your order of eggs, and give you a free little portion cup of soft serve if you finish your meal. It's also the cleanest diner I've ever been to. You see dudes polishing the exhaust hoods during breakfast (I've worked at restaurants where that never gets cleaned, at all).

My go-to breakfast order for any restaurant is the classic 2 eggs, potatoes, meat, and toast. I take over medium eggs and usually sausage. And plenty of coffee.

Waffle House is a terrible restaurant. I haven't been near one in over 20 years, but as a northerner that moved south, I never got the appeal. My first order there was a late night burger- worse than school lunch. I figured, they're known for breakfast, try again. But the eggs were rubbery and everything was dripping in grease. It's the worse diner I've ever been to, and I will stick with that to my grave.

Waffle House is so many things - greasy spoon, actual disaster metric and bastion of civilization in a disaster scenario, impromptu Thunderdome during the weekends...

Gimme that two egg breakfast with sunny side up, a biscuit, sausage and hash browns with chili or white gravy, depending on my mood. Alternately, a pecan waffle, which pairs perfectly with the slightly burned coffee.

I still hit one up every few months because it's next to the place I take the truck for service, and having a WaHo breakfast is a great way to kill the time while they're rotating the tires and checking/replacing fluids.

Whole Milk
Scrambled eggs, cooked in bacon grease
White toast, lightly toasted and buttered
Bacon, not too crispy and as much of it as they are legally allowed to give me
Pumpkin pancakes with a metric fuckton of syrup

A piece of dry toast with two scrambled eggs, an order of hash browns, make them extra crisp, a glass of orange juice and a bowl of cheese grits.
