Achievement Hunters Club - Wasted 300 hours of my life just for a platinum gang

IIRC FEAR 2 has a similar achievement that requires a ludicrous amount of boosting to get.
I've gone back and 100%ed some of those twin-shooter Lara Croft games and Lara Croft GO or whatever. Fun, quick, easy, 10-12 hours.

Then I boot up the original Tomb Raider reboot: 10-15 online pvp achievements. Just.. no? Yeah I'd "cheat" to get those. It's fucking nuts. I love some games to the point I just wanna 100% them so I can move on from them, but others are stuck in this kind of limbo.

The Playstation 4/5 ported games on Steam are masterclasses in achievements. Require 2-3 playthroughs and mostly unlockathon. No difficulty related ones iirc. I've 100%'d Mass Effect LE without cheating, somehow, and once you got used to the hardest difficulty it wasn't bad, but often difficulty is just doing 50% less dmg to an enemy with 150% more hp, and just.. no. Everyone taking more damage and losing some quality of life aid is the way to do it.

The mecca of easy 1000G gamerscore: Avatar: The Last Airbender: The Burning Earth for Xbox 360. It'll literally take you longer to buy the game, boot it up to your console than it would to complete all five achievements.

And yes, I did 1000G in that game in about 4 minutes.
I like how 90% of the comments are wondering if anyone even finished the game lol. Man, watching that video made me realize how much potential ATLA has at being adapted into a videogame, I'm surprised there wasn't any triple or double A studio willing to make that into a reality. I could see it being an RPG game where you get to spawn as an Avatar in any of the nations and each one has their own stories and villains for replay value.

I was considering playing the game from beginning to end. I need some motivation.

I've completed TWO games this month. XDefiant for 1000G and Sonic the Fighters for 400G.

Sonic the Fighters is a 3D fighting game featuring Sonic characters based on an obscure fighter game called Fighting Vipers. Plot is basic: defeat Dr. Eggman, but a rocket that blasts off to him only has one seat. Fight for the rocket seat.

Very easy title. Just change some settings, and spam X with the occasional block button. You could get it within an hour

XDefiant is a F2P online shooter that harkens back to old school CoD gameplay. Grinding to level 50 for weapons/general level will take some time.

The hardest achievement I've probably gone out of my way to unlock was the achievement in Max Payne 3 for beating New York Minute Hardcore. Basically playing through the entire game with one life, on a timer, and no restarts from start to finish. I was also on controller and you're locked to free aim with no aim assist on this difficulty, so you can imagine how fun that is. It's pretty easy to die if you get downed by an enemy and can't kill them fast enough. That shit is infuriating. And it's not like this game is short either, since it'll take you about 5 to 6 hours to beat, IF you're good. There's alot of unskippable cutscenes which can drag it out.

I had a couple close calls near the end. Particularly Chapter 12, 13 and 14, the final three chapters of the game. In chapter 12, I got downed near the end while I was carrying a shotgun and the enemy was a decent distance away, so I was guaranteed a death if not for a scripted explosion that killed the guy for me and saved me from failure.

Chapter 13, you need to destroy an APC that can one shot you if it hits you. I never miss shooting that thing, but I choked and missed it this time. I had to run around for FIVE VOLLEYS of fire from this thing as I scrambled to find a rocket launcher to take it out. My butthole has never been more clenched.

As for Chapter 14, I had basically a minute for the entire mission. So I had to haul ass the entire level. Thankfully, this is my favorite level in the game, so I had a good pace. But still, a minute for the whole level, barring the final boss and car chase, since I accumulated a little bit of time before then.

Overall, crazy experience. I wouldn't want to do it again but it was still worth it.

Quantum Break, the biggest challenge was finding all the collectibles and having to replay it on the hardest difficulty (final boss can be rather BS)

I decided to replay Saints Row 1. Somebody offered to help for its multiplayer achievements as a group. I have all four TrueSkill related ranking achievements which took hours to grind for.

Context: TrueSkill is a Microsoft matchmaking algorithm that determines a player's skill through an arbitrary ranking system calculated on wins/losses between other players. In concept, your Trueskill rank would gradually adjust from your win/loss history and your opponent's win/loss record. Example: you start at 0, you win your first match against somebody with 7. Your TrueSkill would drastically adjust because it's your first win against a higher skilled player.

In practice, it's more complicated than that. If you played a lot of games, your TrueSkill will take time to adjust. If you play against various TrueSkill ranks, that can adjust accordingly as well. It's hard to boost as you have to account for everybody's wins/losses as THAT can adjust your TrueSkill. It's possible to be "stuck" since the algorithm is trying to even itself out. I'm not a math major; I'm sure somebody CAN properly calculate rank with the proper data.

I know of a FEW games that had achievements measured by TrueSkill. If you haven't played during its heyday, good luck playing enough games TO adjust that skill level. And, TrueSkill will not adjust if matches last longer than five minutes. The party I was in, now their TrueSkill isn't adjusting anymore.

It's one thing to unlock all achievements in various games, but imagining doing that for EVERY game on your profile. That's dedication, especially since achievements can be buggy, discontinued, or require spending/luck/other peripherals.

I have way too many of these, but for now, I'll keep myself to two:

"Merciful" (Don't kill anyone) for KCD was one who fucked me especially hard, since I also decided to combine that with doing the game on Hardcore with every possible penalizer. During the siege at the very end, your friendly soldiers die almost instantly and it ends up with around 8 enemies each whaling away at Capon and Bernard.
After several attempts, I managed to aggro a single enemy from the mob, pull it from the group, fight him hand to hand, knock him unconscious, strip him of every item, pull a second enemy, repeat the process (And also fight the naked enemies that ended up waking up after to while to knock them unconscious again and again) until Bernard was able to fight back and kill the enemies, and repeat the process all over again with Capon. I'm pretty sure there could have been an easier solution, but I sure as hell couldn't find it.

I don't know why, but on my Xbox Series X, there's a delay between doing the requirement for the achievement and the achievement actually popping up. Tested on Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 and Halo: The Master Chief Collection. It has to be an Xbox thing with syncing.

80 hours into AC Valhalla, closing in on some achievements but shit like "catch every fish (without pumping it full of arrows) in the game" turns me off of really pursuing it. I don't mind quitting at 80% but it seems kinda stupid to keep grinding, especially with Black Flag and Unity now having achievements. I'd hope they keep re-adding achievements to AC games on Steam, but I've also read Win 11 makes most of those older AC games literally not work, so that'd be fun

This one is going for my Autism Hall of Fame. Fuck the absolute niggerfaggot who had the idea of adding the 1000 day achievement. Hope you die of monkey AIDS.

To put in context, The Long Dark is a survival game which, understandably, has several achievements for surviving certain amounts of time (10/50/100/etc days). Back in the day, there was quite a bit of controversy because they had the absolute genius idea of adding a "Survive 500 days" achievement, in a game that had, at most, 150-200 days worth of content, if you decided to complete all the major achievements in a single go; which meant you had to screw around for 300-350 days, which was insanely boring.
Last December, they completed their season pass (Which adds 75-90 days worth of content at most), and added several related achievements, including one for surviving 1000 fucking days. This retarded shit took over 300 hours over almost 3 months and was soul-crushingly boring. I can't believe it's finally over.

I can beat that. I 100% My Friend Peppa Pig on my Xbox. It's basically a point and click adventure game for kids. If you haven't heard of Peppa Pig, it's a British children's show starting a talking pig.

That's common. Achievements have to be verified by the server on any system after the 360. People used to mod their 360's, unlock all achievements with mod tools, then go online with a cheated profile, and this was meant to stop that.

The server delay used to be a big problem during the early years of Xbox One where the requirements were met but the server wouldn't authorize. I've had friends who met the requirements for achievements, didn't get the unlock, and then after 5+ years while randomly playing another game it finally goes through and they get "achievement unlocked" for a long forgotten game.

Anyway the best achievement ever made was the gnome one for Half-Life 2: Episode Two. You'll end up forming a strong bond with an inanimate object and cry tears when you finally send him to space.

Worst achievements go to the early 360 games that required you to reach #1 on the leaderboard, like Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter.
