US special forces soldier arrested after allegedly winning $400,000 on Maduro raid, CNN says

➡️ A US special forces soldier involved in the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro was arrested and charged for allegedly betting on that operation, netting him $400,000 in profits.

➡️ The outsized trade involved with Operation Absolute Resolve caught the attention of law enforcement almost immediately.

➡️ According to an indictment unsealed Thursday, Master Sergeant Gannon Ken Van Dyke opened an account in late December on Polymarket, one of the best-known prediction markets. He wagered about $32,000 that Maduro would be “out” by January. The bet was a long-shot.

Siemens and General Electric hesitate to repair Venezuela's electricity service due to lack of payment guarantees

Potential suppliers for Venezuela's electricity industry, including Siemens Energy and GE Vernova, met with officials in Caracas in April, but returned "skeptical" due to the lack of clarity regarding payment for their services to maintain the country's power grid.

The executives showed reluctance toward the plan, sources indicated to Reuters.

"I returned from Venezuela very skeptical," said one of the attendees at the meeting. "The power plants have not received adequate maintenance for 10 years, so the needs are practically infinite. But they still have no idea how they will pay us."

The government of Delcy Rodríguez recently rejected a proposal from a group of foreign companies seeking advance payment for initial repairs and spare parts, citing legal obstacles, according to Reuters.

This proposal is part of the current three-phase strategy driven by President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

As part of this initiative, key meetings have been held with fundamental actors in the private sector, including representatives from GE Vernova, the financial services platform Cashea, the Venezuelan Oil Chamber, the Hydrocarbons Association, and Venezuela Gas.

The central objective of these meetings is to align efforts to modernize the Venezuelan legal framework, allowing foreign investment to flow in a safe and transparent manner. According to the diplomatic corps, the private sector is already prepared to lead the structural transformation required by the Venezuelan economy.

Despite all of the talks about foreign investors, most of them seem to be left on paper, probably as to not anger Trump.

Chavista regime asks the private sector to use its own energy sources, bans digital mining, and appeals to the "collaboration" of citizens

4 to 5 hours of daily power outages to try to get enough electricity to run the drills efficiently. Production will stagnate till the power situation is solved.
