His Spider-Man reviews. He understands jackshit about the comics or the characters and misses the mark on the intent and inspiration the movies draw from. Here's a fun question for you all. What is Doug's worst review/moment/etc in your opinion?
I mean before the MCU Spidey he was sucking the dick of the Webb Movies acting like they were much deeper and mature films than the Raimi trilogy. His Spider-Man reviews. The Raimi and Webb movies all have their problems, ones a lot more than others, but his dickriding over the MCU Spidey (because he's a spineless bald fag who plays it safe when it actually counts) while de-meriting the other two series is my biggest example of Doug constantly tackling media he doesn't understand yet can't be arsed to research or respect.
Yeah, because most spergs on his forums were acting like the Webb films were going to be bigger than Christ himself and how Shailene Woodley was going to completely erase Kirsten Dunst in looks and acting as MJ. Then there's Doug's distaste for Tobey.I mean before the MCU Spidey he was sucking the dick of the Webb Movies acting like they were much deeper and mature films than the Raimi trilogy.
Simple, he is probably gaslighted/has Stockholm syndrome type loyalty towards the guy. Or Doug can probably speak his mind more openly and negotiate in his favor. Mike doesn't want to lose his biggest star, but then again I wouldn't be surprised if he funds a perfect opportunity to throw him and his brother under the bus, like he did with (dead and not so innocent) Jewario during the CTC.I don't really understand why Doug doesn't get away from this Michaud guy. I mean the NC is Doug, what the hell is Michaud going to do with the IP if Doug isn't there?

And that's perfectly fair. Art is subjective & a matter of personal taste & preference.A bit late, but I also still enjoy Nostalgia Critic. It’s good for what it is, Youtube comedy reviews of movies. Though I’m also not gonna try and convince anyone to like them either. I’ve learned it’s easier to just enjoy what you like rather than try to talk to other people about it.
Not that I fault anyone who dislikes the videos either, of course.
I thought the Digimon Movie review was alright. Why did you skip it?Simple, he is probably gaslighted/has Stockholm syndrome type loyalty towards the guy. Movie: To Boldly Flee, worst "movie" I've ever seen in my life, and I watched Batman & Robin and Max Payne in the theatre, and To Catch a Yeti on television.
As Nostalgia Critic: His crossover with JesuOtaku, only NC review I didn't watch nor I will
I thought the Digimon Movie review was alright. Why did you skip it?
The question shouldn't be "What's Mike gonna do with the IP?" but rather, "What's Doug going to do without the IP?" Demo Reel has proven to both of them that Doug is nothing without the Nostalgia Critic, so Mike is going to keep hanging the rights over his head until Doug finally decides to settle for less $$$, which we all know he never will.I don't really understand why Doug doesn't get away from this Michaud guy. Maybe Doug could create another character to review movies with? The question shouldn't be "What's Mike gonna do with the IP?" but rather, "What's Doug going to do without the IP?" Could be numerous reasons. The IP most likely belongs to Michaud and not Doug, so that's already out of the equation. Without the IP Doug is worth jack shit and he knows that.I don't really understand why Doug doesn't get away from this Michaud guy. Ever seen the intro of The Division game? Seems like a prophecy today.I'm actually kind of sad that we didn't get a more 'serious' review of pandemic fiction like The Stand. Now is the perfect time to see what these fictional disasters got right/wrong/kind of right.

Then there is also the possibility that he can't just leave and start his own YT channel because of a non compete clause in his contract.
Even if he could leave and start his own YT channel, he basically would be starting at zero and has to build up a new audience with a new IP and Demo Reel was a spectacular failure.
So it's pretty sure that Doug would fail spectacularly with a new channel and a new IP and he knows that and it's also the reason to do NC for as long as he can, because it's the only thing he's sort of successful with.
There is one thing about apocalypse fiction that is usually lacking. When the riots and violence starts it rarely has an overt political bent. People riot just for the hell of it. Granted this is usually done to avoid controversy too much controversy. But this is what disaster fiction usually lacks the politics of it.How disasters radicalise people and end up mainstreaming previously extreme ideas. Only on occassion do such stories explicitly go political.I think Escape from LA is the most overtly political of all dystopian fiction.Gotta give props to John Carpenter for doing that. The guy had no qualms about that stuff might be the reason he ultimately quit doing movies.Ever seen the intro of The Division game? Seems like a prophecy today.

The problem with politicizing your story is that unless the story shows the true nature of politics, then it's either going to miss its mark or become horribly dated in a few yearsThere is one thing about apocalypse fiction that is usually lacking. Agreed Doug may be a cow, but at least he's mostly got his life together and can still make my laugh every now and then. Also his dark toons segments are kinda informative, then there's his cats chaplin and buster. Man has good taste in classic comedy give him that.A bit late, but I also still enjoy Nostalgia Critic.
