I have a new theory that Andrew Dobson and Linkara are both Alternate Universe versions of each other that are both in this universe for some reason, they both have their respective fetishes that they have a vested interest in, but they also paint themselves as some sort of guiding light for artistic decency despite having this one fetishistic weakness that pretty much completely contradicts what they say they want, They both are very imposing of their beliefs on others and use their medium of choice to shout said beliefs as loudly and as smugly as they can muster, they both have a pretty self-deprecating sense of humor at times, and they both have a purdy hat.

TL;DR I think Dobson is some sort of Alternate Universe Blue-Bear-Linkara and I find their similarities in light of recent events to be extremely amusing if nothing else.

Yeah but see, adding diversity just fpr the sake of diversity is pretty bad. It objectifies entire groups of people who usually have suffered many hardships and turns them into commodities used for the sole purpose of trying to appease whiny little shits who spend more time worrying about the skin color, sexual orientation, or gender of fictional characters than any biggot ever would. But I suppose there's no real use trying to have a serious discussion about things like that with a guy who uses a fucking bear dressed as a leprechaun as his avatar when its mid march.

I would argue that, at least when I was growing up, diversity for the sake of diversity at least normalized the idea of children of different races and backgrounds being friends (I always think back to Captain planet in particular for this). However, I think that, as a society, merely having the token minorities in media today, especially with a much savvier audience, is not enough.

Make good characters first. Good characters, no matter what their background, will always have a wider appeal than tokens.

I think Dobson might be one of the only people I never feel bad about mocking in art.

It's fucking gross but he still put way more time and effort into drawing that than most of the slop he produces now. Terrible taste in subject matter though.

It looks like he enjoyed drawing it as well. So much of his art now looks as though it was a chore for him to make.

I'm friends with this artist. She got really excited and was like "so THAT'S why so many people were reblogging it!" So, yeah. You made her day.

So after the screenshots I posted last night I asked him if he thought it was still degrading to women if women draw women in sexual ways. I'm not going to cap it because of levels and not wanting Chloe to possibly figure out my account.

In short Dobs thinks that women sexualizing women the way they want is fine in context. EG. As long as male feminists like him deem it to be ok then female artists can do what they want. Just take in the irony there. The guy is pretty much stating that women artists need men's approval to draw women sexually in places that are not conventionally sexual, as if the dignity of fictional characters is more valuable than the creative expression of women in the comic industry.

Honestly, I can understand being put off by things being awkwardly sexual, but I don't see the point in telling other artists and creators that they should change, potentially alienating their current audience, for a chance at a different one. I just suck it up and say "well, this wasn't designed for me" and move the fuck on.

That's what annoys me most about Dobby, is that for all his posturing, like Linkara, he's not actually feminist at all. In fact, he's pretty creepy. I don't mind sexy costumes in games and whatnot, so long as they're tonally appropriate. Metal Gear Solid is a pretty goddamned ridiculous series, so it's not terribly off-putting. But if a character dressed like her showed up in The Last of Us? That'd be highly innapro-pro.

All I ask is that creators try to shamelessly titillate me too, dammit.

You are giving Newgrounds WAY too much credit and assuming they have any level of quality. They don't. At all. Him sobbing like this wouldn't even raise much of an eyebrow outside of people fucking with him on there. So really, it'd just be the same as his DeviantArt... maybe a bit more risque and you'd get more people bitching about him trying to axe his inflation art due to enhanced perversion/autism, but a similar result.

Otherwise I can totally see the connection, I used to watch Linkara's "reviews" and it always made me wonder why he had to go on about holier than thou "this is sexist" tangents... or why he was so stuck up about some characters being depcited a bit sexy despite being 16 or 17 or doing amorale things like insinuating they are in love with an older person. Like, Supgergirl would kiss a guy and Linkara'd go "DA'S STACHUTORY RAAAAPE!" or something. I always assumed it's some kind of cultural thing since, y'know, I've been reading a lot of manga where stuff like that doesn't even warrant a blip on the radar.
