Off topic, but I watched an interview with a German voice actor recently. This voice actor is someone who dubs over real actors in Hollywood movies, in his case, he's the German voice of Brad Pitt. He's also a voice director.
He said that he has so much passion for his job that he sometimes insists on doing multiple takes for a scene, even after the director tells him he's done with the scene. He didn't mention there being a problem with that and he didn't act like this was super outrageous behavior for an actor either.
It's pretty bizarre to hear someone like him who's a well respected voice actor and director mention that he does this.
Vic did the exact same, and was vilified and dubbed "complicated" by voice directors and actors at Funimation for it.
Vic is simply a passionate and talented actor. He's too good for Funimation.

I knew of Monica before Vic, because she had starring roles in a lot of ADV stuff, and those were the first anime's I saw having DVDs in stores. The most recent role I know her for is from Black Butler, but I've also not watched a lot of newer anime series. Well, she's also Mila in Fire Emblem Heroes. I'd never heard of Jamie Marchi before all this, though, so maybe she's a newer voice actress?

One of Marchi's first Funimation roles was in Yu Yu Hakusho, which coincidentally was one of Vic's first Funimation productions as well.

Ironically enough, she voiced a boy in that anime instead of a high pitched girl so it probably sounds different.

The self-importance of people is almost staggering. I've played 1 gacha game for a long time. I honestly turned the audio off. Not because the voices are bad but because I don't want them blaring out when I'm trying to do other things and figured I'd play for a few minutes. I understand that some people expect voices in there, but if you put the thing out with no voices I don't think the impact would be as harsh as the voice actors expect.

I don't proclaim to know what is and isn't fair payment, but a dollar to say a line? For someone with no VA experience? That sounds pretty awesome to me. @_@ I mean, don't anime VAs get paid a certain rate per hour spent recording? It wouldn't take a long time to say ten lines, so I feel like you'd make more with this...

As a freelancer myself, I can see the other side, though. Pajeets and new graduates who are willing to work for minimum wage or even free (for equity or exposure) puts downward pressure on the rates I can charge and forces me to work harder to prove my value by way of my experience and such. I get frustrated when I see job listings which have comically low rates for people in my field, but I'm sure they're still getting filled by someone. I'm sure VAs feel the same way when they see gig listings with low rates.

He still doesn't have his name anywhere on any of the posters/covers, far as I can see, and the movie looks kinda horrifying ngl ('cause it was made so cheaply), but that's pretty cool he was still able to be in a movie that actually hit theaters. Another thing he and Travis Willingham have in common, then (although Travis still wins because it's Secondhand Lions, far as I know Vic hasn't shown his pretty face on a live-action theatrical movie).

Also unless you are Veggietales. Its hard to produce a Christian animated movie. They were lucky to get it into theaters.
