Tifa is part of an eco terrorist group that causes mass destruction and loss of lives carelessly because the one in charge of it has a personal axe to grind with the government and uses his environmental cause as a shield to justify his endless raging hateboner for the company and the vastly more efficient energy that replaced the coal power his town sustained itself by mining. The deaths of innocent people, the collapse of civilization as they currently know it, and untold destruction of the infrastructure and society caused by violent anarchism - because he wants to violently tear down the current rulers but has no plan for what to replace them with, nor any 'next step' beyond their destruction at all, including how people will power their things - is all fine because those are worthy sacrifices for THE CAUSE. As a freelancer myself, I can see the other side, though. Pajeets and new graduates who are willing to work for minimum wage or even free (for equity or exposure) puts downward pressure on the rates I can charge and forces me to work harder to prove my value by way of my experience and such. I get frustrated when I see job listings which have comically low rates for people in my field, but I'm sure they're still getting filled by someone. I'm sure VAs feel the same way when they see gig listings with low rates.

Game DEVELOPERS get paid WAY below market rate for their work. Without them there is literally no game at all. Testers and other parts of the backend staff are usually paid peanuts too. So I can't muster up a lot of sympathy if voice actors think they're not making much money for their minimal work on a gaming project. The reality is that anyone working in entertainment period should get paid a percentage. That way you can profit off the hits, because pretty much all entertainment is "hit" driven. But people (especially those working "low end") don't want that because you'll make very little or possibly nothing at all on MOST of your projects. Video games and movies especially are areas where one hit funds maybe 20 things that never make money.

I have no idea why people think she'd be talking about Vic here. She doesn't name or hint at who it is, and if it were about Vic it would obviously be a lie. If Vic said this about cosplayers to someone he barely met, he'd definitely say it to people like @Svetlana and @EriMin and probably others like Squally and Stan, too. He'd 100% discuss this kind of thing with Monica, and she would 100% have used it against him over the past year, even if it were out of context or a joke. Personally, I get the strong feeling this is actually someone like Sabat. The phrasing she uses (and the fact that she says outing him would get her blacklisted) matches the kind of speech pattern I've seen of people quoting Sabat's kind of casual conversation. It also fits his two-faced behavior, the talk of him actually disdaining/looking down on fans, and the fact that he's actually been banned from certain cons for inappropriate behavior toward minors/fans/cosplayers, implying he might feel entitled to behave that way.

Agree. The fact that she mentioned how somebody would chime in about how she condones this behavior because she works for that company, and that she would be fired, terminated and blacklisted if she said something is a red flag that it's not Vic. I mean, Monica and Jamie "spoke" and they weren't fired or blacklisted or punished. If anything, they were rewarded for bad behavior. It has to be a voice actor currently working at Funimation.

I haven't seen anything concrete. But apparently Funimation likes to use his recording studio for dubs instead of their own facilities, and I think he has been a director of some dubs or at least some big roles behind the scenes. And to some, this whole thing isn't a #MeToo thing as much as it is Chris Sabat trying to take out Vic as a potential rival so his influence as a director (and running is recording studio like a frat house) can't be challenged, which extends to uninvolved VAs allegedly being forced to support the defendants.

I'm not sure if Chris has his own thread, but others here can tell you more if you ask nicely.

The guy has been ADR in various productions, has been friends with Funimation's Gen Fukunaga since at least 1999 (not to mention Sabat's ex-wife also worked in Funimation productions until they divorced in the early 2000s), and has his own recording studio (OkaTron 5000, which his current wife is the head of HR there) that has been used for nearly every Dragon Ball product since 2005.
The guy has more clout than you think.

I did't know about how much power he had behide the scenes. I just learn about the voice actors last year. I was the type of guy at first who just watch the characters and didn't care who was behide the voice to be honest until last year.

In the summer of 1990, I packed everything I owned into a beat up old Nissan and set out for Austin to study Biology/PreMed at the University of Texas. Over the next thirty years, I changed majors twice, made some incredible friends, sold the car for two hundred dollars, had a wild dotcom career in telecom, raised three sons and started a small media company in a spare bedroom of my house that blossomed into something beyond my wildest dreams. It is a bit surreal that three decades later, almost to the day, I will be moving out of this city that I may always call “home” to begin a grand new adventure in a life overseas.

And as I set out on this new journey with my family and two cats at my side, that means my time walking the halls here at Rooster Teeth has come to an end. As some of you have predicted over the past year, my steady move away from a public life was in preparation for this change. So I hope this will not come as too much of a surprise. A few months ago, I enjoyed returning to the spotlight for a short podcast run with my old friends, and I would like to be able to continue to explore my creative passions. To that end, Rooster Teeth and I are currently working on a first-look agreement, which will enable me to incubate my own projects and then present them to the company for possible development.

It is difficult to leave my home country during such a tumultuous time. Ashley and I set these plans in motion over two years ago, and we could never have predicted the state of the world at the time we would embark. We believe in the strength and the promise of this nation as much as ever. We look forward to returning to a country that has made many long overdue changes to benefit all of its citizens.

I want to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who supported me in my career at RT, with special thanks to Tony Goncalves who so skillfully leads the Otter family and Jordan Levin, who has RT moving in incredible new directions. Starting this company and growing it in the early years were some of the hardest but greatest moments of my life. The constant camaraderie of Gus, Geoff, and Matt always made the impossible seem achievable; I could not have asked for better companions on this journey. My wife Ashley has been the stable bedrock of my life and I am overjoyed to begin this next chapter of our family's story together.

Thank you to every person who has walked through these doors as a collaborator or tuned in to one of our videos as a viewer or made the choice to become a member of our community. Your support has meant the world to me and I hope that I had even a fraction of the positive impact on your life that you have had on mine. There have been a lot of ups and a few downs over the years, and I have learned so much from all of those experiences. I am eternally grateful that I had the opportunity to do what I love every day — an opportunity that I owe entirely to all of you.
