Man, I hate it when something genuinely grim happens to a cow. I know Amberlynn biting it has been a long time coming, but I always figured it would be something sudden, like a coronary. This is why despite lurking, I never really followed this cow that closely. For me, it's not fun to watch someone slowly eat themself to death. I could never stomach the Nikocado thread for the same reason. I kind of like cows that fail upwards like Momokun, or people whose cowishness comes chiefly or solely from crazy shit they say, like Zinnia.

Anyway, I was going to say that it particularly sucks when something bad happens and it's out of the cow's control because I assumed that was what happened here. However, that was before I found out that Amberlynn's type of cancer is strongly associated with obesity. Even when you take into account that it's her fault, it's still really unfortunate. I think I'd feel bad for someone with cancer even if they got it by bathing in nuclear waste. It's just that shitty of a disease to have. I know the party line here is "play stupid games, win stupid prizes," but I still feel bad for her.

and they have the basic advice on how not to be fat:

Eat less and move more. But yes, she will die sooner than expected because she's gigantic and keeps expanding over the years. Did she think she would magically be the exception?

Apart from cancer, in time she will post about other diseases. But she only checks them when it hurts or bleeds or anything so who knows what else she has.

It's a little like smoking 40 cigarettes a day for 20 years and then a doctor tells them you have reduced lung capacity. It didn't take one day of smoking and it doesn't come as a huge surprise.

I've read every page of this thread if only because I wanted to see how everyone would respond. I've also seen several reaction channels on YT say that they will no longer be reacting to ALR because, evidently, her cancer diagnosis makes her immune to criticism.

I certainly wasn't hoping for ALR to die, and I don't make it a point to wish death upon anyone, regardless of how awful they are. But... am I wrong in saying that we, essentially, were laughing and rolling our eyes at her eating herself to death? Having cancer is just as much of a death sentence as weighing 600lbs is, no? If we didn't pity her for being a fatass, why should we pity her for having cancer that was almost certainly self-inflicted? She had the time and the financial means to go to the doctor; she demonstrated some level of self awareness in her videos, frequently stating that she knew she had to see relevant medical professionals; and she also said, ad nauseam, that she was at risk for so many health issues. Despite all of this, she did absolutely nothing.

Now, I understand that I might be in the minority here, but I do concede that ALR clearly has an eating disorder. I refuse to believe that any sane fucking person would eat themselves to such a grotesque and inhuman size. But if you have an ED, then go to the fucking doctor to address both that and the consequences of your ED. ALR and her loved ones were clearly aware of the medical inevitabilities, but she also had literal thousands of people on the internet all but begging her to go to the fucking doctor.

Now she faces the consequences of her actions and she's getting ass-pats? Come the fuck on. If she had made a legitimate effort to do anything about her health one time in her life, maybe I would feel pity, but alas, here we are. This was avoidable. This was preventable. I won't PL, but trust me: at her size, she should have been getting endometrial biopsies every 2-ish years, and if possible, transvaginal ultrasounds. At the very least she should have been going to the gyno. She's hopeless. I don't want her to die, but I don't feel particularly sorry for her.

Most people aren't monsters. The fact that the reaction channels have to save face so as to not get digitally dropkicked by their fans is proof enough that ALR's viewership isn't entirely filled with haydurs-- or maybe it is, but the majority are just stupid.

Amberlynn is gonna grow the fuck up, and fast if it's as bad as I think it is, and so is everyone around her.

Without PLing too hard, one of my parents was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer when I was a teenager. You grow up very fast when you juggle a job, school, and having to take care of your own parent while they suffer through chemo and all of the magical things that come with it. My parent's survival rate at their age for 5 years is less than 20%, with treatment. Shit happening to me means nothing in comparison to the thought that my parent won't see me graduate college, marry, meet their grandkids, etc. We've gotten past one year of the cancer being at bay, but there's still that ever looming dread of them going to a routine scan and coming back to set up their will and everything else for their other half.

I think this spells the end of the Queens and Beggy being perpetual children. Especially if Amber has no health insurance and will be too weak to make videos for the cash money. Beggy will need to choose between her snapbacks and being able to pay rent soon.

SPEED EDIT: Also no, they we not told this over a phone call. They had at least three different doctors appointments: one at the normal practitioners, and two at speciality centers once they noticed shit was up. Though we aren't exactly sure what stage it's in (though with all of the signs and shit we know from ALR's previous vids, probably stage 3 or 4) so idk how that works In my family I've only ever dealt with my parent's somewhat treatable stage 4, and another close family member having pancreatic cancer so bad they didn't even bother with treatment and they died less than a month after diagnosis.

I think that assuming that anybody could pull themselves together like that, especially someone as much a fucking trainwreck as amberlynn, you're underappreciating yourself.

That survival rate goes up significantly for white women under 60; and peaks for white women between the ages of 16 and 40. The survival rate assumes “appropriate care [at a general quality]”. The racial discrepancy is usually due to access of care received. Being without medical insurance is going to negate the racial discrepancy unless she can get referred to a gynecological oncologist in a large city. ALR would benefit from being referred to Chicago or NYC for care.

Gynecological oncologists are very uncommon even in midsize cities like Louisville or Lexington, which I assume is where she’s going. A search result for gynecological oncologists can be very misleading as an OB/GYN can co-manage these patients and may be listed as gynecologic oncologists, but actual gynecologic oncologists will not see patients without cancer or malignancies. Any provider you see with both OB/GYN and gynecologic oncologist listed is an OB/GYN that can only co-manage. GynOncs also won’t treat most non-cancerous conditions they find, but will fax the office notes and labs to the patient’s OB/GYN to manage the newly discovered affliction. If a patient is cured of their cancer, they’re usually dropped as patients from gynecological oncologists after a few 6 month follow-up visits.

Most GynOncs work directly with a hospital which will benefit her as they have financial aid programs to cover the costs of gynonc patients outside the range of Medicaid eligibility yet still uninsured. She will need to start on this, or begin picking out a bankruptcy lawyer for when her condition has stabilized and she won’t accrue more medical debt.

Other than that, obesity is deadly ofcourse but the actual risk to Amberlynn in cancer treatment are the conditions that stem from obesity. (E.g, Hypertension and Diabetes) It’s not exactly the obesity directly that causes the largest spikes in mortality rates. This again is influenced by the socioeconomic factor of survival rates as people with better means typically have better control over many of their obesity-related conditions. (E,g. A non-diabetic obese patient who’s blood pressure is adequately controlled with a beta blocker has significantly lower mortality than a general obese patient.)

She needs to apply for medicaid (disability options with a premium if over income) and/or get on SSDI fast (will be eligible for Medicare after 2 years). Best case is her picking up private insurance but that usually starts at the first of the month.

Open enrollment for health insurance is in November. And she will not be eligible for Medicaid. And there is no such thing as “fast tracking” SSDI. If she wants Disability, it could take months or years. She has been told for years that she needed health insurance, but she chose to buy journals and Cheesecake Factory. She thought she was immune. And to whomever said she could pay out of pocket for the surgery is a nitwit. Do you have any idea what surgery costs? Anesthesia? This crotch rot does not have that kind of money.
