Well he ain't rage quitting yet. So we have a lot more failure to come our way.
He's got an easy boss (the real first boss) ahead of him, as well as a night spent looking up tips and guides. I suspect his playstyle tomorrow will be veeeeeery different from today's.

Don't doubt that for a second, but just because he knows how to do something doesn't mean he can do it. Will be interesting to see if/how his playstyle changes though.

Phil skipped playing Ace Combat because he knew it was going to be too hard for him.

I've seen for at least a week people talking about how hard this game was. This is not Dark Souls, Phil can't cheese the bosses, etc.

Phil has been hyping this game up for weeks. He said he didn't research it or look at anyone else's opinions.

If he did the minimum amount of research for his business he would have known this game is not for him. He is not good at it. He is not having fun. He might possibly beat it, but the hours he will have to invest will not be worth it.

All Phil saw was that this game is made by FromSoftware and they make Dark Souls. Dark Souls made him money so this will make him money.

Well this game is also from Activison. Activison also did Guitar Hero. Sekiro obviously must be just like Guitar Hero.

His "I just want to have fun" is the biggest fucking copout. There's a certain level of agency or responsibility (whatever you want to call it Phil) that comes with knowing what you're getting yourself into. From/Souls games have a reputation; you know this. This is a whole new game with whole new mechanics; you know this. You'll have to make a conscious effort to learn from your losses to progress; you should know this. You should also know if grinding out deaths is fun to you or not; if it's not, say the game beat you and quit.

Speaking of Activision wasn’t this chucklefuck talking about boycotting them not a month ago?

This is like his first run of Dark Souls. Without people diving in and figuring out the best cheese tactics for people to spoon feed Phil he sucks and doesn't know what to do. Just saw a tweet that he doesn't want to "learn how to play the game" while also claiming to love the Soulsborne series, which is like an oxymoron.

It's like during his Bloodborne rage quit where he talked about liking the Ebrietas fight because he had to do things like dodge and learn attack patterns. At one of the end game bosses he was learning basic gameplay mechanics because he just brute forced his way past everything else. No doubt he is binging on walkthroughs tonight so who knows what the future holds, but today was vintage Phil struggling with nothing to fall back on but his own skill.

This might be the best This Is How You DON'T Play of the year. I liked Outsyder's RE2 one despite being over-long like all Outsyder videos.

Aaaaand, he already hates the game. Well done, Dave.

Going through some of it now, as I wasn't able to watch most of the gameplay so far, but sounds to me like he (as expected) is failing to pick up on the small nuances the game offers the player, and just plays the game in his usual bold-headed and ignorant way combined with extreme cowardness. So basically the exact opposite of how this game wants to be played.

DSP is going to be pissed when he finds out she has two phases.

Well he ain't rage quitting yet. So we have a lot more failure to come our way.

During the stream, he said "fuck this game", "I think I'm done", "this game isn't for me" repeatedly, then lashes out against morons for thinking he's going to quit.

Also, the best part about the Lady Butterfly fight was that he was warned by the prior NPC to be aware of the illusions, DSP managed to nearly beat the first phase several times before dying, and he never questioned 'why are there no illusions?'. The game practically told him there would be at least 2 phases. I'm just sad there's no third phase.

I've just spent the last hour or 2 trying to play this game like a DkS game or BB (just to see if it's viable) and it makes the game really fucking difficult if you don't use the mechanics. Early on it's pretty easy to just tank the hits and then spam r1 but later on it's near enough impossible (at least for me). If he's using the same tactics he used in any previous From game he's gonna have a worse and worse time of it the further he gets in to it. The mechanics are vastly different for a reason, this isn't DkS or BB.

It's gonna be salt city if he forces himself onward and doesn't learn the game, and utter embarrassment if he rage-quits it.

Not only does he not learn the game, but he doesn't attempt basic strategies.

Lady Butterfly is spamming projectiles at him, and not once does DSP think "maybe I could hide behind these columns". In fact, he literally cursed out From Software for putting the columns in because he kept backing into them and "couldn't move dood". Then again, the funniest one was when he backed all the up against the entrance barrier and somehow that was also From Software's fault.

It never occurs to him that "huh, there's giant columns in the middle of a gigantic empty room, maybe I can use them somehow".

By "remove things from dark souls" he means the inability to summon help and cheese bosses with Lightning spear and magical bs, or tank hits with massive poise.

It is hard to undo years of playing a certain way, and it's specifically designed to punish those that do play it like BB or souls. R1 spam and dodging away/being hyper aggressive doesn't work, you need to focus on breaking posture. The minibosses have high auto tracking to prevent last minute dashing away, and the dash has way less I-frames than either the roll or the dodge of the previous games. You need to learn to stand there, keep calm, and react properly in order to do well, even against mobs.

Nigga how do you play video games for 10 fucking years and manages to be this god awful. I swear he has some sort of cerebral palsy in his hand that makes him incapable of pushing buttons properly.

Because he is not playing it, he is just rushing it to say he finished it, i was expecting his run to be bad but thanks to him i know what NOT to do when i begin to play the game
