Sekiro: Return to Dark Souls rage quit or unexpected surprise?

Actually, the Ashina Elite bosses are parrying bosses. Not sure if you found the centipede boss on the way to the Sunken Valley but you're supposed to be very defensive in both fights and just be parrying. Don't worry too much about offense against this boss. His posture will build up like crazy at full HP as well.

Just wait for him to do his two-slash attack, tap LB quickly in succession, then hit him once, rinse-repeat, the fight is won.
I'm aware but it comes to a point where I will pull johns with the FPS(especially in the castle area) and input delay. Vanilla ps4 has its problems which will probably not be fixed. I've tried it all my dude. Even disabled rumble and put game mode on my tv.
I've been told to try multiple things:
  • hold guard then double tap quickly
  • look for flash then double tap
  • just spam L1

I've notice a few things with the latter. It will make the AI respond to me more aggressive with the double slashes. It's weird because you can manipulate the cunt. If you go on the offensive a lot he will always sweep to get you off him. But most of the time just parrying, it's either: get 2 perfect deflections, deflect one eat another hit, eat both hits, or just regular parry one and just normal block the other. At least with the centipede theres a bit of a rhythm and not as quick as that double slash because I'm double tapping to my hearts content.

That's why it's a gamble for me.

I can't believe this fucker actually beat Sekeiro and isn't bitching endlessly about the difficulty on Twitter. It hasn't even been out that long eitherVer archivo adjunto 727154

Is it weird that I partially agree? I really dislike the combat of Sekiro and find it inferior to Souls. The other things I hate are the constant interruption of story and tutorials.

Magnetic umbrella parry has a huge window and makes the elites an actual joke.
That was suggested as well along with the poison knife arm thing and just flame venting. I still have to go snoop around the dungeon, the area after the monkeys in grass to the first snake eyes you see, and kill a few other mini bosses around the castle(ninja in the well and spear where you find kuro in the beginning).

Nah, not liking the combat is valid criticism. I disagree but I can see why people think that way. As long as there's merit behind the criticism there's nothing wrong with the opinion. The interruptions I completely agree with. It really put me off and kinda pissed me off my 1st play through. It's so unlike From that I agree with people who assume that was a Activision insistence.

For me the combat boiled down to attack, attack, attack, attack, parry, Death Blow. Rinse and repeat except for Ogres, dogs, and very specific bosses like Demon of Hatred.

That and just variety was lacking. In Souls you could find unique builds that suited your play style. In Sekiro it's just the Katana and a handful of Shinobi arts that are actually useful against bosses, particularly the Umbrella and Firecracker.

The lack of customization seems to be a big gripe about the game overall. Didn't From announce that though well before the game came out? I definitely heard about it about a month before release, so that never factored into my rating of the game. I went in knowing you had 1 main weapon and you couldn't change armor. The combat for me is frenetic. DkS sometimes became boring simply because by the third we'd already played it. I was enjoying it, but it was more of the same. BloodBorne turned that up a notch, Sekiro blew the ceiling off.

The enemies I kinda get, but doesn't bother me too much, but that's more personal preference than anything else.

3 was lacking in two things:

The world was very linear unlike the rest of the games.

Felt a little copy/paste excluding when you return to Anor Londo. A couple of areas felt like things we've seen before in the other games. I was happy that they avoided a Blightown-like area.

Última edición:
In regards to the combat: it's a very hit-or-miss subjective feeling as to whether you'll like it or not.

I personally find every parry to be extremely satisfying. It feels rewarding for me. I'm currently on NG+1 right now and I'm just blazing through the game. I'm trying to complete all the side quests I missed and NG+2 I'll get rid of Kuro's Charm and turn on the Demon Bell as soon as the game start to really challenge myself.

In regards to customization: that's the biggest disappointment for me. I love Kuribimasu (Okami's katana) but I wish we could wield the Fushigiri as your main weapon. All Weapon Arts are trash besides the one that syncs with the flamethrower prosthetic tool and shrouds your sword on fire because all bosses are weak to fire and you therefore deplete their posture faster and prevent it from regenerating.

Linearity is also an issue. I'm just realizing how "small" the world is during my second playthrough.

I'm a huge sucker for anything Japanese and anime so Sekiro is one of the best games that came out for the last 5 years so I really don't have that many issues with it (also playing on PC where it's a constant 100FPS -- not sure if it's capped at 60FPS but I suffer from no dips. It's extremely smooth).

Can't wait for the DLCs.

I thought the world was much more open in Sekiro when compared to Souls 3. But I could nitpick and find all kinds of little things I don't like about I didn't already mention.

When you NG+, the spots where you get Prayer Beads and Gourds no longer give you additional Beads and Gourds. Instead you get gold or something else. In the Souls series, you would still get Fire Keeper Souls or additional Estus flasks or whatever. Souls didn't force you to grab everything in your first run you could get it just by playing NG+. Sekiro say's fuck you, you find that shit now or you have to progress well into the game to unlock those areas where you didn't grab your shit.

Most Shinobi arts are completely worthless. Or, are worthless until you fully level them up like the Umbrella. So you'll be using mostly the Firecracker and very occasionally the Shurikan for most of your run.

I mentioned it in the Sekiro thread but I feel like the stealth was half-assed. Getting the Whistle Shinobi Art earlier in the game would have been helpful. I feel like you get access to it way too late. And honestly you can just run by most of the enemies, hide, wait for them to de-aggro, and you're good. Where's the challenge there? Why even have stealth at all if you can do that? The only other times to use stealth is when you need to get a mini boss and want to sneak attack on them to shave off a lifebar.

Yeah, agreed with pretty much everything here.

Stealth becomes almost a joke once you kill the Shura that gives you the re-useable candy that increases your stealth (used in conjunction with the passive skill that increases the buff from the candies, I have at an almost 75% uptime when exploring the world).

Umbrella, Firecracker, and Shuriken are pretty much what I exclusively used. Earlier in the thread, I guess someone mentioned Dark cheesed Isshin using the Axe. I went back and read the description and turns out the axe breaks enemy with high posture resistance. I tried using it but I couldn't land attacks reliably without getting hit (although it did a shitload of damage).

When I say the world is linear, I don't really mean that in a negative way. It is beautifully built and how it connects all together is probably some of the finest work FromSoftware has done. The lack of vertical versatility in DS games is going to be hard to adjust because jumping/ grappling hook gives you the freedom of movement that's just not there in Souls games where jumping is a clunky affair all around.

Last but not least, the reliance on parrying in this game makes it impossible to seamlessly build combos with your katana + shinobi art. I tried to weave in the monk combat art in between regular katana hits, but they're too unreliable and don't stagger enemies to the point you can create really neat combos. Again, I really wish two-handed katanas, spears, hammers and other weapons would have been included as replayability would have been exponentially enhanced as the approach to enemies and different boss fights would completely change the dynamic.

To reiterate what I said in the Sekiro thread: I think it's the weakest of the Dark Souls trilogy (I've never played Demons but am slowly working on amending that or Bloodborne). But it's still a good game. I honest to god think it will be looked upon as FROM's experiment with the formula and some love it and some hate it.

I'd rather see FROM make a new Armored Core game or whatever mech game for now. And then move on to another Souls title. Future Souls, Cyberpunk Souls, Viking Souls (I know God of War did it but that wouldn't stop FROM), African Civil War Souls, Civil War Souls, Cowboy Souls, World War 1 Souls, etcetera.

Take issue with that comment. This isn't Dark Souls, it's not meant to be Dark Souls. This game is it's own thing, just like BloodBorne. Agree with a lot of your points but this 1 is just dead. Calling this the worst Dark Souls game is like saying Death Stranding will be the worst MGS game. It doesn't make sense.

Worst From game, if that's your opinion fair enough. Don't call it a Souls game. It's a brand new idea and execution with similarities to their backlog.

To me, it's Souls. Or maybe a cousin of Souls. There's so many similarities to Souls that you can't dismiss it and say it's nothing like it. The combat and movement is entirely different. Otherwise it's still a Souls game.

Don't disagree, but calling it the worst Dark Souls game is nonsense. It's Souls-like without doubt, but enough is different to be it's own thing. Not to mention it can't be Dark Souls as DkS is a collection of games connected by story and characters, BloodBorne and Sekiro are their own stories and characters, with some crossover for whatever reason. Going in to Sekiro expecting a Dark Souls game doesn't make sense, it was openly known they were doing things differently this time. They're only similar in difficulty and some aspects of combat. Everything else is different. Not liking it is fair enough, not liking it because it wasn't enough like Dark Souls is weird to me.

Then again, for the last few years From has been making a lot of samey games, so maybe I'm just being weirdly particular about it. But SoulsBorne ≠ Sekiro. Those 2 are their own thing only linked spiritually and some base mechanics, like R1 is attack.

It's Tomato/Tomahto for me. I don't dislike it, or even hate it, because it's not exactly like Souls. I just dislike elements of it and prefer Souls over it.

There's a fellow on YouTube named ZeroLenny who actually does this. He uses the weakest armor and weapon in the game, and deliberately does what he can to make the weapon weaker.
However, Lenny is actually funny and has a good grasp of how the game works.
Know i'm late but I remember this dude from when he had like 10k subs, he started the shrek meme in dark souls 2 and fucked Sir Alonne up with a ladle or something.
