Can someone settle the chicken or the egg on obesity and PCOS for me? Any woman I've ever known who was overweight or obese has PCOS. This has always made me think that woman have PCOS because they are obese, but the OP makes me think I have it backwards and you get obese because you have PCOS.

There are non-fat women with PCOS; it's called 'lean PCOS'. But yes, they're heavily correlated.
There's also mis-diagnosis going on, where doctors will say any fat woman with irregular periods or fertility problems has PCOS. But being obese can cause both of those without PCOS being involved, since excess fat really fucks with your hormones. Even hirsutism has been shown to occur in fat women who don't have PCOS to some degree.

smooth legs is nice on either gender. some guys that are otherwise very clean/hygienic have very thick leg hair that inevitably feels meh.

It'd be nice if women didn't force other women to shave, bleach, pluck, and so on. Moms, stop teaching your daughters they have to do that shit.

I mean, there's a difference between having a normal lady-stache and a full beard ZZ Top would envy, but I don't think women should have to do any more than I do to be accepted by society. Don't stink, don't look super weird(If you're trying to be a distraction, basically), don't show any naughty bits.

Now, people have to accept that there's a difference between society allowing something and individuals being attracted to it. Society can be quite open, and could easily accept bearded women. There's no top-down forcing of people to date them though, although I'm sure there are dudes who either don't mind, or wouldn't if it was more normal.

I realize that's probably not a super popular opinion, but eh, I'm for equality, and I sure as hell won't shave my legs.

Yes. They might need additional help from electrolysis, but generally speaking, hormonal birth control pills are very effective at reducing facial hair, often eliminating it entirely.

I dunno about where you live, but where I live, people can and do look as weird as they want. It seems to me that society accepts or at least tolerates them. In my experience people do their best to pretend to ignore those who look strange or out of place, provided they aren't also acting too strange or obnoxious.

I agree with the sentiment that being a hairy woman in itself isn't lolcow behavior. It's the insistence that it's normal or beautiful or something to be proud of that crosses the line into cow territory.

Getting a tattoo of your own face on yourself is also absolute lolcow behavior.

Outside of places small or isolated enough to preserve a monoculture, people are accustomed to others acting or looking different. In most polite society, you may notice the weirdos and even laugh at them, but rarely do people go out of their way to cause problems for people who aren't causing them problems. When it's something real awkward like female hirsutes, it's mostly just pitiable.

There should be a special word for getting a tattoo of your own bearded face on yourself because it is too fucking funny. Can you imagine the dregs of male society that would be willing to put up with that?
