What do these people think about the bearded lady in The Greatest Showman? The woman who played her can’t grow a beard and had to have makeup people apply it to her face. Would this be cultural appropriation?

I'd like to know how are these lolcows. Having a weird identity or medical condition doesn't make you a lolcow. Acting like a sperg raving-mad autistic kid in public (or online) does. Other than the first Jeanie Is a Bearded Genie girl who someone pointed out selectively chooses how faithful to her religion she is, I don't see why any of the other ones are being featured here.

We don't make fun or trans or mentally disabled people indiscriminately. A woman with a beard might make for a circus act but it doesn't necessarily make for a KF thread. We are not an online general-oddity gallery.

PCOS causes weight gain

I was, in fact, wondering why most of them looked like big ugly men regardless of the beard. Honestly though, half the men I know don't have beards as full as these girls...

Most people with PCOS have minimal symptoms. Facial hair growth like this is extreme outlier stuff. It's also generally successfully treated with antiandrogens. The symptoms in this thread are both extreme and untreated. Most people with PCOS have essentially no trouble with it other than a weird cycle, the odd cyst rupturing, and likely fertility trouble.

Metformin gets prescribed because the current thinking is that PCOS and its hormone disturbances fuck with the body's insulin resistance, making it easier to gain weight and harder to lose. Metformin fixes the insulin issue, allowing people with PCOS to lose weight more easily. PCOS symptoms are more severe the heavier someone is, because fat holds oestrogen.

these girls got dadbod and dadneck

When you are a fat, unnatractive mess you might as well use it to stand out and make yourself feel special because you honestly have nothing else going on. You are just another lumpy dumpy dough face in a sea of women that don't have PCOS but look just like you. I think if these were beautiful women they'd feel differently.

I'm very knowledgeable about pcos and the worst part of this thing they're trying to make into a trend is that they are purposely not seeking treatment for their condition which will end up causing a lot more debilitating health problems for them as they get older. They're just lazy ham planets. The best way to combat pcos is to lose weight.

Then they can't be snowflakes. I'm sure they go on about how the PCOS makes them obese without even trying to lose the weight. It's an excuse to stuff three cheesecakes into your mouth at once while crying that you are fat because "muh cundishuns". They do the same thing with hypothyroid. "It doesn't matter if I eat a party sized tub of ice cream. Muh thyroid,"

They are encouraging vulnerable young women to not seek treatment and embrace being bearded ladies because it's special. They have no right to glorify a medical condition like this and tell other women that having a beard is great and they should embrace thier PCOS.

If only freak shows were still around. They'd either make a fortune or oversature the market. There can be too many bearded ladies, right?

Yes this is what's so fucked up and stupid about these cows. PCOS fucking sucks and it does make losing weight more difficult but it's pathetic to use it as an excuse to be a lazy beard growing piece of shit. Hope they enjoy their diabetes and other life long issues that come with not properly managing their pcos.

Well, freak shows are around. You just do not have to throw a nickle at the announcer at the entrance. And you do not have to think about the ethics, as the freaks are showing themselves off completly voluntarily.

I knew of the sikh girl, and I kind of respected her for her decision. But getting yourself a tattoo of your own face and rolling around in a bath tub like a bearded seal for photos?! Well, that's just plain old attention whore behaviour. And getting upset over the bearded lady costumes during Halloween is lolcow territory. How assblasted would they get over this Ladybeard?!

Even if you're too lazy to lose weight, you can at least take standard birth control pills and it'll drastically improve many of the symptoms. The fact that these women can grow such large amounts of facial hair tells me that they probably aren't bothering to seek out any treatment whatsoever, despite having a very common and very manageable illness, which just makes me even more unsympathetic.

Are you 100% sure that they're not just troons who are too lazy to shave or can't afford laser hair removal so they just claim to be biological women who suffer from facial hair? Because fuck me, some of these women look more like men than actual men I know.

As someone with PCOS, I can confirm that this is true. As I lost weight, I noticed that I had less spots on my arms (the only visual symptom I had), and eventually they went away completely. It's not a surprise to me at all that most of the women in the OP are obese because of this. I assume that the heavier the woman, the more hair that will grow, and those who don't even care enough to lose weight wouldn't shave that shit anyway because of laziness or just not caring.
