Welp,

BREAKING: James Gunn has been removed as director of the Guardians Of The Galaxy series after a batch of old social media dispatches were unearthed that touched on areas like pedophilia and rape.

Here are the tweets, which were captured by Fox News:

1. Many people who have followed my career know when I started, I viewed myself as a provocateur, making movies and telling jokes that were outrageous and taboo. As I have discussed publicly many times, as I’ve developed as a person, so has my work and my humor.

— James Gunn (@JamesGunn) July 20, 2018
2. It’s not to say I’m better, but I am very, very different than I was a few years ago; today I try to root my work in love and connection and less in anger. My days saying something just because it’s shocking and trying to get a reaction are over.

— James Gunn (@JamesGunn) July 20, 2018
4. For the record, when I made these shocking jokes, I wasn’t living them out. I know this is a weird statement to make, and seems obvious, but, still, here I am, saying it.

— James Gunn (@JamesGunn) July 20, 2018
5. Anyway, that’s the completely honest truth: I used to make a lot of offensive jokes. I don’t anymore. I don’t blame my past self for this, but I like myself more and feel like a more full human being and creator today. Love you to you all.

that's that.

Even at his raunchiest none of Saggett’s material was “it’s a good day! I think i’ll Fuck a child!” It’s pretty easy to see precisely where Disney draws the line regarding this sort of thing.

Best way to view it is this. Saggett’s raunchy adult materials could and should be viewed as isolated from his Disney work. There is nothing in them where there is even a hint of call back to his Disney persona. The Mouse is fine with that. The James Gunn equivalent would be Saggett standing up and expounding on how he was gonna plow the Pre pubescent Olson twins in the ass. Bringing “sex with children” into your raunchy non Disney routine is what creates the branding problem and mentally bridges the two. And that’s the point where Darth Mickey force chokes the shit out of you.

I still think, given how high this went up the Disney chain, and how firmly they aren’t re-evaluating things, that there is something else that freaked out Disney. Not enough to make a public comment or declaration. But somebody found out Gunn was hanging in certain circles and going to certain parties. Enough for Iger and Horn to have a huge “oh shit” moment and shitcan him before the liability bomb exploded on them.

Everything you just said... is reeetarded. I'm gonna go through it all in a minute, but literally EVERYTHING you just said... is reeetarded.

First off... your own argument actually works against you.

James Gunn is not a "personality", he's a DIRECTOR, he's the guy BEHIND the camera, not in front of it. People generally don't watch credits and they don't generally give a shit who the director is as long as the movie is good. If you went out on the street right now and tried to ask people to list even TEN movie directors... most people wouldn't clock over three at best.

On the flip side Bob is a "personality", he's the guy in FRONT of the camera, he can't be "isolated from his work", because he IS the work, his face, his voice, that's the brand, that's literally the shit that people are lookin at. It's like those memes where you can just post a picture of a character and some random text and you'll wind up reading it in your head in their voice.

And, I don't think you've ever actually watched his raunchier material cause... yeah... it does involve the Olson Twins getting fucked as well as children...

You really can't top the "aristocrats" joke.

At this point you've got as much mental gymnastics going on as the idiot SJWs trying to rationalize firing Roseanne while saying firing Gunn is wrong. You're basically on the opposite side of the same stupid coin. Your "arguments" are theirs... only in reverse!

Firing ANY of them for this stupid shit is wrong.

It's wrong because of SINCERITY!

See firing the NY Times editor for going around bashing white people... that would make sense, because she's actually being SINCERE when she says she wants to kill white people or whatever... like, she really, REALLY does want that to happen. She's not making a joke, she's not being flippant, she's not being INSINCERE, she's being GENUINE about it.

When James Gunn made the pedo joke he wasn't openly admitting to being a pedophile nor was he ADVOCATING pedophilia.

When Roseanne said someone looked like a monkey she wasn't saying ALL of a certain people are monkeys, just that ONE person and she meant it in the same way that we used to roast Jr. Bush over...

bushmonkey.jpg

Nobody ever had a problem with it then, but suddenly NOW it's a problem?!

It's like READING COMPREHENSION suddenly fuckin FAILED every last reeetard on Twitter... which, given the stunted word count limits, boy that's not too God damn surprising.

If you can't figure out when someone is being SINCERE or not... you're probably a fuckin autist. No, I take that back, you ARE a fuckin autist.

I also think that there's something we don't know that freaked Disney out. It could have very much been Gunn's connection with Huston Huddleston.

I also think that there could have been something that had to do with his contract. I think that Gunn's complete silence on the entire matter indicates that he knows he messed up on something (at least that's how it comes across to me).

Disney will absolutely NOT rehire James Gunn, and the whole #RehireJamesGunn hashtag is just plain embarrassing for the people posting it because of how dumb it is. If Disney rehired Gunn, it would be an admission of fault and being in the wrong, which could mean a big lawsuit. In the legal sense, Disney really can't just reverse their decision, especially if the contract is the subject of dispute. It's funny how so many people don't realize that.

I think you're right. I think there was some MAJOR fuckup that went on behind the scenes and they were forced to dig through a decade worth of shit just to try and find some excuse to get rid of him. It's like when you want to fire an employee who is being a shit hole but you don't want to come right out and say, "We're firing you for being a shit hole." so then you just start looking for any other random little excuse to get rid of them.

Mmmm... not really. If you're talking about their "family friendly" tweeny bopper shows, yeah, Disney has had a long history of shit canning teen talent left and right whenever they start to get old and "edgy", the last major dumpster fire being that Jake Paul tard.

But when it comes to everything else Disney owns they've been pretty lax... I mean, they've had Bob Saget on for a number of different projects, including the Muppet Show and... he's got some pretty raunchy fuckin side humor that extends as far back as his career goes.

It's only when you're a "teen role model" that Disney really brings the hammer down. This new crack down is unusual even for them.

To be fair though iirc, Bob Sagot's career started when he was an adult (unlike teenie weenies) and his raunchieness was when he was an adult. I also think that his humor was correct for the period he was in (look at the response to Dave Chappell's old stuff and his new stuff- I'd be surprised if he does filmed stand up specials for very long), and lastly his humor had to do, mostly, w his work. He was paid to do and say the stuff he didn't just walk around or write a blog about fucking babies and them pissing on his head. Tim Gunn just wrote really "offensive" stuff on his Twitter of his own free will, and then proceeded to go on witch hunts. It may be dumb that he got fired, and to be honest some of that shit wasn't edgy or raunchy it was downright goddamn stupid and nasty, but he fell on his own sword. I think that's why people are so gleeful and rubbing it in, not bc they truly believe Tim Gunn fucked a little boy while watching The Expendables(or whatever), it's bc he's a pretentious cunt who was all over Rosanne Barr and everyone remembered that. I'd be surprised if that wasn't brought up in his communications w Disney. Another case of sjw's being unable, or refusing,to live by their own draconian rules and falling on their own sword. He should've been cleaning up his Twitter when Roseanne got in trouble, but instead he was gleefully helping dogpile her.

(Not all this has to do w your comment, I just had a few other notes to add. Don't think I'm jumping on ya mate!)

Again, how is it that James Gunn is taking this better than everyone else?
Vulture dijo:
Dave Bautista Ready to Leave Guardians If James Gunn’s Script Isn’t Used

By Jordan Crucchiola @jorcru

Dave Bautista is legally obliged to participate in the next Guardians of the Galaxy movie as Drax the Destroyer, but says he will try to get out of that contract if Disney tosses out the script from recently fired director James Gunn. “Where I’m at right now is that if [Marvel] don’t use that script, then I’m going to ask them to release me from my contract, cut me out or recast me,” Bautista told ShortList in a new interview. “I’d be doing James a disservice if I didn’t.”

The actor has been one of Gunn’s most vocal advocates since Disney dropped him from Guardians Vol. 3 after alt-right trolls resurfaced his old tweets joking about pedophilia. “Nobody’s defending his tweets, but this was a smear campaign on a good man,” Bautista said to ShortList. “I spoke to Chris Pratt the day after it happened and he’s a bit religious so he wanted time to pray and figure it out, but I was more like: f*ck this. This is bullshit. James is one of the kindest, most decent people I’ve met.”

Bautista also tweeted recently that it is “pretty nauseating to work for someone who’d empower a smear campaign by fascists.” The cast has signed an open letter asking Disney to reinstate Gunn, but it seems unlikely Disney will change course on the matter.

Yeah it's definitely pretty funny that he was throwing stones in his glass house and if Disney wants to get rid of him they have every right to do so.

But you don't want to wind up in the same situation. That is, as funny and satisfying as it may be, it's setting a pretty dangerous precedent and one that could eventually roll all over shit left and right. It's sort of like, we don't want to cut off our Roseannes' just to spite our James Gunns'.

I noticed many SJW speds are deleting their twitter history and then bragging about it lately. I’m sure it will take less than a day for them to start making disparaging remarks about cis people, men, white people etc.

I hope then some guys archived of these SJW tweets on the Wayback Machine and/or Archive.is before the SJW deletes them.

I mean ... If the cast decides to walk at this point, I won't be heartbroken over it. If they want to bite the hand that fed them, then let them be morons.

Infinity War Part II has already been filmed. For some reason, I feel like that movie will be a completion of all of the Guardians' character arcs anyway. Literally the only thing that would become a loose end is the Adam Warlock buildup from Guardians Vol. 2.

A lot of my hype for any Marvel movie will probably end after Infinity War Part II comes out (aside from the Spider-Man movies; I'm still hyped over those), because I feel like it's the "grand conclusion" to everything that Marvel has built up for 11 years. Guardians Vol. 3 isn't an absolute MUST for me at this point in time anyway.

I suspect this is more to do with the new digital era we live in, and how it's a lot harder for some of that shit to go down the memory hole.
I wouldn't doubt this one bit. Nobody's gonna be digging up Bob's earliest stuff even though it's out there.

Fun fact, part of Bob Saget's contract with ABC when he signed on to Full House included that they would give him extra compensation for putting his stand-up routine on hiatus. They didn't want Danny Tanner associated with shit like the aristocrats joke and sucking dick for coke.
Certainly worked for Bob in the end (and this was pre-Disney too for ABC).

Right, and if you went out and the street right now and interviewed 1,000 random people and asked them who James Gunn is they would look at you and go, "Who?".

I hate to disillusion everyone, but there's a reason they're called TWEETS, because the grand majority of the planet doesn't actually give a shit and doesn't even notice all the incessant screeching that goes on with Twitter. It's one of those platforms where the people using it grossly overestimate their reach. Most people can never even dream of clockin over a 100,000 followers and compared to the SEVEN BILLION people presently festering on the planet... mmm... yeah it's not really all that important.

Movements like the whole "social justice exceptionalism" are great and all, but I'm afraid they aren't so much in line with the real reality... hence the reason Marvel Comics suffered a 90 fuckin percent drop in sales.

This shit ain't hard to figure out, you can build some real God damn simple metrics to figure out who actually has reach online and, uh... it ain't the hugbox brigade, boy lemme tell ya...

Hell United Airlines literally BEAT one of their own passengers off a plane basically gave a giant "fuck you" to everyone on Twitter and their stock value SOARED in the wake of that decision.

Get woke... GO BROKE!

Figure it out.
I wish more did.

Oh for sure. I think the whole thing is toxic as Fuck. My hope isn't (necessarily) that more of these boogers get fucked like this, it's more along the lines of me hoping that eventually they'll realize "if we can't live by these rules, how could anyone else?".

:optimistic::optimistic: af, I know.

That's my hope too. It feels like maaaybe there is enough grumbling about how no one should get fired over shit like this coming from several different angles that the idea might actually end up gaining ground. Throw us both plenty of :optimistic: but I'm not ready to rule out absolutely everyone as a total hypocrite yet.

I find it funny that human garbage like Bob Moviebob Chipman are claiming people can change and Gunn should be rehired then in the very next tweet condemn large swaths of the American population and accuse them of being irredeemable and deserving of poverty and death.

If Big Dave left, they might hire the other guy that looked like him:

The People's Choice, Mason Ryan, it'd be hilarious if they hire this guy and not acknowledge that Batista left.
