Here are the tweets, which were captured by Fox News:

1. Many people who have followed my career know when I started, I viewed myself as a provocateur, making movies and telling jokes that were outrageous and taboo. As I have discussed publicly many times, as I’ve developed as a person, so has my work and my humor.

— James Gunn (@JamesGunn) July 20, 2018
2. It’s not to say I’m better, but I am very, very different than I was a few years ago; today I try to root my work in love and connection and less in anger. My days saying something just because it’s shocking and trying to get a reaction are over.

— James Gunn (@JamesGunn) July 20, 2018
4. For the record, when I made these shocking jokes, I wasn’t living them out. I know this is a weird statement to make, and seems obvious, but, still, here I am, saying it.

— James Gunn (@JamesGunn) July 20, 2018
5. Anyway, that’s the completely honest truth: I used to make a lot of offensive jokes. I don’t anymore. I don’t blame my past self for this, but I like myself more and feel like a more full human being and creator today. Love you to you all.

that's that.

I don't even know what exactly to say about the pictures? Considering that Gunn is dressed as a Catholic Priest in them, and considering that he has mocked the Catholic Church before (i.e. in his film, Super), it may come across as satirical/"fedora wearing" hipster-y? Best case scenario?

But considering the volume of pedophilic "joke" tweets, his connection with someone who was convicted of possessing child pornography, and some of the weird "kids in peril" posts he's made on Instagram in the past ...

Just how many fucking red flags can we find with this guy?!

Disney-- DON'T DO IT. Do NOT rehire him. And to anyone blindly defending him: You are a fucking moron; an imbecile of the highest degree. That includes Kevin Feige (who I have been singing the praises of for several years now; I'm so goddamn disappointed in him).

I mean I'm not a pedophile expert but I don't think pedophiles would find adult women dressing like schoolgirls sexy.

I rather suspect things can be a bit more nuanced than that for them. It isn't simply "Child/Not Child". And they will generally start with various forms of "Age Play".

I'm reminded of a sex advice column I read many years ago where the writer had some rather pointed advice for a reader who couldn't figure out why her boyfriend wanted to have sex with her after she'd soaked in an ice-cold bath and then lay on the bed perfectly still.

With both sides sperging out on Twitter over this whole thing, I've kind of been on the fence about it. However, those photos along with various other red flags do imply that Gunn is into some sick shit. Maybe the feds need to do a hard-drive search.

Oh yeah, and Disney still lets some kiddy fiddlers slip through the crack now and again. Some people on Twatter pointed out this guy, who still works as a sound/music mixer on various films (the most recent credit of which was Incredibles 2).

‘Not an easy time’ for Chris Pratt after Gunn firing

https://apnews.com/63b1a006682445e0...-easy-time'-for-Chris-Pratt-after-Gunn-firing

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Chris Pratt says “it’s not an easy time” as he and the rest of the “Guardians of the Galaxy” cast look to the future of the hit superhero franchise after Disney fired writer-director James Gunn.

Pratt told The Associated Press in an interview Tuesday that he stands behind social media posts saying he hopes Gunn can be reinstated for the next movie.

“It’s not an easy time. We all love James and he’s a good friend of ours, but we also really love playing the Guardians of the Galaxy. It’s a complicated situation for everybody. And you know, we just want to move forward and do what’s right and be the best people we can be,” Pratt told the AP.

Gunn was fired last month as director of “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” because of old tweets that recently emerged where he joked about subjects like pedophilia and rape. He has apologized for the tweets, which were posted from 2008 to 2011.

Pratt spoke to the AP at a bar in Los Angeles after meeting with seven disabled athletes who are being sponsored to run in the New York Marathon by Michelob Ultra. The 39-year-old actor, a spokesman for the beer brand, said it was “shocking” to hear news of Gunn’s firing during Comic-Con in San Diego.

“I love going to Comic-Con but I ended up not doing a lot of interviews around that time just because it was so shocking. All I know is we put a lot of time, thought and effort into the statement that we released about it. And I think we all kind of want that statement to be essentially what we have to say about it. And we were pretty clear and honest about how we feel,” Pratt said.

Pratt signed an open letter released 10 days after Gunn’s firing, saying the cast fully supports the director and the character he showed both on the set of the first two movies and in the wake of his firing. Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel and five other main stars of the franchise also signed the letter.

Before his firing, Gunn’s Twitter account was heavy on left-leaning politics, and some on the right with whom he’d sparred found and promoted the tweets that led to his ouster.

Gunn has been writer and director of the “Guardians of the Galaxy” franchise from the start, taking an obscure Marvel Comics title about a group of misfits and turning it into a space opera decked with comedy and retro music that made Pratt a major movie star. Through two installments the franchise has brought in more than $1.5 billion in global box office.

Disney Stands Firm on James Gunn Not Returning to ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ (EXCLUSIVE)

By JUSTIN KROLL

After a strong push to get James Gunn back as director of “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” following his firing from the project, Disney and Marvel are standing by their decision to not reinstate him as helmer for the next installment. The decision came following a meeting between Gunn and studio chairman Alan Horn.

Gunn was let go from the project nearly a month ago when dozens of Gunn’s tweets from nearly a decade ago came to light. The so-called joke tweets, about pedophilia and rape, were recently resurfaced by alt-right agitators. The studio acted quickly to remove Gunn from directing the third installment, believing the comments were unacceptable in the Me Too era and were not in line with Disney’s family-friendly image.

Since then, support for Gunn has been widespread, especially from the “Guardians” cast. Cast members including Chris Pratt and Zoe Saldana asked for Gunn to be reinstated in an open letter.

Gunn and his UTA reps pushed hard for him to be given a second chance, and Horn decided to take a courtesy meeting on Tuesday to clear the air and see if there was a possibility of Gunn returning to the franchise. Though the meeting was described as civil and professional, sources say that Horn stood by his decision to not reinstate Gunn as director.

Insiders say Marvel president Kevin Feige was out of town and unable to attend. Sources added that while it was rumored that Feige was pushing to bring Gunn back, Feige stands by the studio’s decision to not bring back the “Guardians” director for the third installment.

Spokespeople for Disney and Marvel declined to comment.

Once Feige is back in town, Disney and Marvel will continue the search for a new director. It is still unknown if the production schedule will be affected by the change in the director’s seat. The film was expected to go into production at the start of 2019, and while sources have stressed that Gunn’s original script will be used for the next film, it is still very likely that whoever is brought in will still need to put a polish on it in order to add their stamp to the project.

Just wait till Disney sees this, clearly a racist. I say fire everyone and start the MCU again this time with none of them "jokes", because jokes aren't a thing anymore but are statements.

Context means everything. The purpose of RDJ's character doing this in Tropic Thunder was to bring light of Hollywood's white washing through politically incorrect jokes ... And to make fun of the "Oscar baity" movies and some pretentious actors. Throughout the entire film, there is a black character who outspokenly takes offense to RDJ's character. The joke was not AT ALL "Hurr hurr, RDJ is in black face!" The joke was "Look at this asshole pretentious actor who goes WAY too far."

James Gunn tweeting things like how he likes to be touched ... Yeah, where's the context? Where's the actual structure of the joke here?

Comparing Tropic Thunder to Gunn's Tweets is like comparing apples to fruitcake.

I just made a dumb joke, you took it as a statement, that's pretty funny
