ABC has pulled the plug on the revival “Roseanne.”

The move comes after series star Roseanne Barr made a comment on Twitter Tuesday morning referring to former Obama aide Valerie Jarrett as the offspring of the “Muslim Brotherhood & Planet of the Apes.”

“Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show,” ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey said in a statement.

Barr deleted her tweet about Jarrett not long after posting it. She followed it up with an apology which read, “I apologize to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans. I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks. I should have known better. Forgive me-my joke was in bad taste. I am now leaving Twitter.”

The revival of the classic sitcom was set to air a 13-episode eleventh season this fall. The move represents a remarkable turn of events for the network, Barr, and a show that finished the season as the No. 1 scripted primetime television series in the 18-49 demo, according to Nielsen live-plus-same say numbers.

Just two weeks ago at ABC’s upfront presentation, Barr introduced Disney-ABC Television Group president Ben Sherwood, joking that he was “the guy responsible for most of my tweets.” Sherwood and Barr hugged onstage, and the the exec noted that ABC had not had television’s No. 1 show in 24 years. Dungey, during her portion of the presentation, bragged that “The premiere ratings even took us by surprise,” claiming that 1 in 10 Americans has seen the “Roseanne” revival premiere.

More to come…

It'll likely be picked up by another network in a few months, but I sincerely doubt Roseanne herself will be involved. They'll most likely kill off the character and soldier on, since apparently decent amount of the staff and cast are less than happy about the tweet.

Well Roseanne was getting knee surgery in the final episode, just have her die on the table and focus on Dan and Darlene's family.

This one WEIRD trick one mom did to make 13% of the population 3000% triggered!

Calling a black person an ape is offensive and not okay, but this seems like an overreaction to me. I understand the network wanting to distance themselves from Roseanne, but it really doesn’t seem fair to the other actors, not to mention the production crew, the writers, and everyone else involved in the show. They didn’t do anything wrong, ABC is just collectively punishing them for the actions of one person.

I'm not defending Roseanne herself, I’m just saying it sucks that dozens of people are now out of work over a Tweet.

Roseanne fucked herself out of the entertainment industry, there's no question about it.

It's a shame too because the entertainment industry is learning the hard way that conservatives have money and they like being entertained too. If they don't come up with their own competition to Hollywood, they're going to be nothing more than a political afterthought in a couple of generations.

Personally, I think it was horrible, but honestly Roseanne is famously a nutjob so it was only a matter of time before something like this happened. Don't be surprised when a monkey throws shit.

This actually happened back when the original Roseanne show was on. Some producer wanted to get rid of Roseanne and make the show about the rest of the family and Jackie. Which is why that episode where Jackie babysits the family came out. The other cast members told on this producer to Roseanne, this producer got fired and ended up working on Home Improvement.

Isn't what happened to Tim Allen's show kinda like what happened to Ren and Stimpy where Nickelodeon decided to buy out John K. and make the show through their own studio to cut back on costs, bit off topic but that came to mind.

I would've rehired her after that just to fire her again. Stupid twat can't read the room or keep her mouth shut.

Roseanne has a pretty bad tendency of losing her shit on twitter fairly often, so this was kind of expected. Shame, I thought the show was pretty good
So...I should follow Roseanne on Twitter?

Also, I haven't gotten around to watching the new show yet, but I hear nothing but good things about it from the people whose opinions I respect.

Better topic, how do you remember that?
Random video in my suggested youtube videos brought up an old segment from the Howard Stern Show (95 I think) where they had John K. and some assistant of his on talking about the what happened and also Billy West was a regular show member and it led to some rather uncomfortable tension because Nickelodeon made a deal with Billy to pay him more to do the voices of both Ren and Stimpy which he accepted along with saying to John that he'd walk out with the rest of the Spumko staff in the event of the buyout but didn't so they ragged on him on the show which was one of the main reasons why he left. Also it's funny to watch and see how they gushed over John and how much of a genius he was and this was a weight off his shoulders so he could pursue other projects all the while he was living with an underage girl and didn't do a whole lot of anything big after that just some commercials a music video and some short lived Fox shows.
