Debate Against Race Realist Wednesday

I find it kinda hard to argue with someone about how smart or stupid a group of people are when that person has been on the site since the 11th and still can't avoid double posting tbh

Marvin is still unable to offer any cogent response, expecting me to argue against myself apparently. Perhaps Marvin can explain why IQ is not a valid and useful construct?

Marvin also fails to understand irony, which is yet more ironic.
Bisexual Robert McKim also likes to spout the importance of IQ

But I asked you to explain the argument rather than parrot statements by authority. Why can't we quantify intelligence?

You can't quantify intelligence because there are a number of ways someone can be intelligent. Abraham Lincoln had a low IQ, but society at large views him as a cunning politician. IQs don't indicate whether or not someone has a degree, and IQ tests don't go over things like history and art. IQs also don't measure wisdom, technical skills, or social savvy.

Literally all IQs measure is perception, logic, and math.

Talks about IQ

- doesn't know what irony is.
- attached to dead gay ideology which has been a joke since 1945.
-won't reference claims.
-falls for obvious bait.
-getting petulant as easily outdone by laypersons on subject which is of extreme importance to dead gay ideology.

.....so what's your IQ Wednesday?

Spare me the dubious anecdotes about Lincoln's IQ. IQ does indeed indicate whether someone has a degree quite well. That alone validates it. IQ "doesn't go over things like history and art"? What does this mean? IQ doesn't correlate with academic and artistic ability? It does. Well. IQ is a component of wisdom, savvy, technical skills. It's often a necessary but not sufficient condition. It's very important. Plus the physiological correlates, neuron density, nerve conduction speed, reaction time. It's a very robust measure of brain power.

Doesn't this basically sum up to: "Wow I got a high IQ score therefore IQ is valid!" and "oh shit I got a low IQ score therefore IQ is a myth!"?

Powerlevel, but I've never even taken an IQ test. The premise of it just sounds reductionist to me.

It's fallacious to assume that someone disagrees with something just because they were personally slighted by it.

"Reductionist"? You mean we shouldn't operationalize behavior and all models must be 100% explanatory or they're useless?

Rose et al have no clear idea of what they mean by biological determinism. "Determinist", for them, is simply one half of a double-barrelled blunderbuss term, with much the same role and lack of content as "Mendelist-Morganist" had in the vocabulary of an earlier generation of comrades. Today’s other barrel, fired off with equal monotony and imprecision is "reductionist".

Correlation =/= causation.

Andy Worhol had an IQ of 85, but posessed a great deal of artistic ability. The two men who won nobel prizes for divising the structure of DNA strands had average IQs. If IQ is such a perfect measure of those things, why did those men end up with such low ones?

Even if your anecdotes are true which I doubt very much, a model can handle exceptions. Predictive validity is key. This is probabilistic, not deterministic.

James Dewey Watson...his IQ was but a respectable 120.
Reduced to fake anecdotes.

Wednesday shouldn't have liked this post...

Are you referring to the R.A.C.E. debate tactic?
