If I'm ever sad I have at least one cat that will visit me for pets. I also have kids I can play games with as they're great for cheering you up, and there's always friends to talk to/ do stuff with. Depression is literally worse than cancer, you fucking GHOUL! And it's sad that many of them believe it. And they think that being lazy is exactly the same as depression.

To be fair, there are extreme cases of depression where you become overwhelmed to the point where you can't even do simple things to take care of yourself. But there are ways to get around it. Say you have trouble making the effort to make a sandwich, you can eat the bread and slice of turkey individually. Now you've had the same amount of nutrition a sandwich would give you.

But Spoony was never this. He was pissed off that Hollywood didn't come calling, that the only friends he could keep were the likes of Lewis and Brad, and that people expected him to make a Spoony movie because he didn't specify that the $5k was for a movie in general, not specifically a Spoony one. He didn't give up because it was too much effort, he gave up because he'd reached his peak and would have to work harder in order to go further, and he didn't want to do that. And when he couldn't be bothered to work, his fans still paid him and it became easier and easier to just not do anything.

On the subject of Youtuber movies, coincidentally I watched Bring Her Back just before seeing the Spoony update. Their channel looks like the typical Youtube slop where everyone spends half the time screeching, but they made a pair of films that have received critical and commercial success. Markiplier's effort is apparently also pretty good, and Chris Stuckmann at least made one even if it was shit and he sold his integrity to do so. Wonder if Noah ever sees them and thinks about what might have been.

There is many reasons why people act the way they do on social media. For Spoony I would wager that sperging out everyday online was merely an easier creative outlet than streaming or making a video. decker shado can make up to 33k views a month for a video but that's because he rarely uploads now. StitchedTogetherPictures might be lucky and get 14k a video and again, rarely uploads. They're basically doing what Noah was doing with horror and B movies. Lots of channels are doing the whole game review with jokes thing but with better editing. If he wanted to remain popular it would have been best for him to keep doing it even if he didn't have the energy to do it. Decker may have ended his relationship with the woman he was with and still came back to make videos.

WeMadeItTogether also did a great Youtube episode on having a haunted house and trying to get roommates and he had no money for a budget. His latest short is also a fun watch. It's just a guy with a phone camera and a story with some house hold props. Something Noah can easily do.

Spoony's videos were popular in an era where edited content was rare and seeing any analytical videos about a video game was few and far between. Now there are hundreds of YouTube channels exactly like Spoony's

If he came back he'd essentially just do modern day esque avgn videos and probably get a sub 10k view count. With most of those being "glad you haven't killed yourself" views.

His ff8 videos come to mind as theyre actually some of the worst videos on the game. He barely knows anything about ff8 and skims a good 2/3rds of the game just to get to the end quicker. He doesn't even talk about its ending for some reason.

I can imagine if he did a ff15 review he'd completely miss a lot of things other videos cover like how a surprising amount of its assets were store bought ones from a separate developer (like an entire boss was) and how it was originally a spinoff of 13 that became a full release. There's no shortage of good videos covering it that Spoony's would just feel uninteresting and uninspired.

Which is another reason why Spoony is so much more pathetic. The guy just needed to crap out one video a month to keep his fans happy, and when it was game videos half of 'em he couldn't even be bothered to use his own footage. Which of course in some of the FF videos led to him failing to notice shit that he would have if he actually played the game. I wonder if anyone has compared Spoony's Ultima videos to having actually played them and seen if he fucked anything up due to sourcing his game footage elsewhere. I'm not familiar enough with them(played a couple as a kid for a bit and that's about it) so I wouldn't be able to watch his videos and spot anything.

The biggest things are these games basically require a guide to make any progress at all because nothing is conveyed to you. And theyre extremely clunky to actually play. Like every single one is so awkward. Ultima 7 despite being the best one is also similarly really awkward. Weirdly Ultima 9 is by far the easiest to get into because its just an open world action rpg and its far more inviting than any prior game.

I also think had Spoony played Ultima 8 before 9 he would've seen 8 as worse. 9 at least has sidequests and towns. Ultima 8 has a single side quest in the entire game and half of its world map doesn't exist ingame.
