So they can't even get them from someone who is willing to put their own info there... Just how cheap they can be. Not a great look.

There is a reason USB-C power has these things. It is to protect against cheap bullshit cables burning. Doesn't really matter in old USB where the power was low. But now it can be high with higher voltage and current. Thus reasonable steps are taken to ensure cable at least promises to be capable.
Yeah, almost certainly they aren't working because of the undefined vendor.

Not because Anker somehow, this quickly, updated their products, including those already sold, to specifically block LTT cables because of "bad blood". Lol LTT simps are retarded.

Yes, but it's still also possible that the one cable is just bad.

Now why in the world would Linus have the vendor set to undefined?

Because it's not cheap and Linus is a cheap ass that don't wanna do it, an vendor ID(https://www.usb.org/getting-vendor-id) is around 6k, to get certified is up to 20k per SKU and they could have other fees too. An unset vendor id should be valid, it's considered the generic value for it.

Apple directly sells top quality thunderbolt/USB-C cables that meet all specifications for not too much money from real brands (Apple themselves ($$) and Caldigit ($)). OWC also sells top quality but slightly less pretty cables for even less. This pathetic venture assumes the competition is the chinese slop that has flooded amazon, but in reality their competition is reasonably priced professional grade cables from real companies catering to professionals.

i looked into this and he's right. owc and caldigit have reasonably priced tb5 cables, and apple sells a super nice premium cable. linus' shit cables are as expensive if not more, why you'd trust the retard's marketing vs real pro grade products makes no sense, but as others say ltt fans are in a ball-licking cult.

Except the cables aren't certified(which makes the simps slobbering all over them even more hilarious), and even the cheapo bullshit vendors get a vendor ID or just set a value for it anyway.

And yes clearly he's a cheap-ass, otherwise he wouldn't have his history of "just trust me bro" for shit. But even the cheaper non member logo license isn't a requirement, it's just the $6,000 fee.

The ugreen 240w 40gb 3' cable is $15. Linus charges $27. Lets assume that even Linus chose to amortize that cost at $1/cable, that's still only 6,000 cables to sell. Why the fuck get in the business of selling USB cables if you only plan on selling 6,000? Even his inflated extra $12 in mark up at that point isn't getting him an additional $100k in revenue that's not worth setting up multiple SKUs at all for some shit like this. Now if he planned on the cost at 10 cents per cable and selling 60,000 cables initially that makes more sense and the cost becomes negligible.

Now obviously these other vendors that actually get the certifications, membership, etc pay more but they're also doing more volume and wanting to sell 600,000 per SKU bringing those costs down even further. I don't expect Linus to believe he's ever going to do that kind of volume, but it's still fucking retarded.

That could get you into trouble with USB-IF if you're not chinese but I 100% agree, he said on a WAN show that the reason was that it was too expensive to certify the cable, while being almost nothing of what he spent on his plane
Sure, but even this all hinges on the anker charger not working with a cable that has its vendor ID set to 0, and we don't know that to be the case(it's just something easily avoided by Linus). Sometimes you just get a bad cable. We know Linus himself watches that reddit, and has staff monitoring it.
If the people running their customer service had any fucking brains, they'd ask him for his order number and just grab a cable out of inventory, verify it works real quick, and ship the damned thing no questions asked considering the markup they have to have on them.
That post could have been resolved in a matter of hours by Linus actually just having his company provide decent customer service if it really wasn't just the vendor ID thing.

And of course being these overpriced "Truespec cables" with no certification... you can get product elsewhere if you're doing any kind of purchasing for a business like an IT department.

edit:

Dumb faggot had to pay a team to demo the house down to timber anyway.

Is a dumbass that thinks gas lines need to be yellow for some reason. The guy with him calls him out. Apparently they plan on pulling all of the copper to scrap it like morons, the not retard with them actually points out they need to re-do it all anyway(this actually does make sense, but the way Linus presented it was retarded). "it's only good for 50 years, it's been almost 40" no visible corrosion or other issues... just make more work. Comments about the lights in the crawlspace being "hand done" as if they should have been manufactured in place somehow?

The big guy they've got that seems to know wtf he's doing, is directing the Linus morons to pretend they're doing demo work taking out half studs, blocking, etc. Just a big segment of Linus and his goons clipping random shit thinking they can just pull things while failing to understand that it'll be tacked and strapped into place.

They got a whopping $650 for the scrap copper. This is shit they could have had the people doing the demo work do, but I guess Linus wanted to pretend he can do handyman shit. He can barely handle a sawzall.

I'm starting to wonder if we really have a housing crisis or if 20% of inventory is ruined by faggot "influencers" buying homes and destroying them while pretending they're fixing them. That's all I think about when I see Linus or Jake with these houses, it's like Indiana Jones being raped by George Lucas and Steven Spielberg, we all saw it but no one is doing anything about it.

don't copper pipes survive for up to 100 years normally?
50+, but if everything looks fine, then there's no need to replace literally everything. They weren't buried, so there's no issues with roots. If the place has hard water that could be a problem. If for some reason you've got copper connected to some other metal then galvanic corrosion could be an issue. But really the shit looked fine. Unless the plan was to re-locate everything, it's just extra cost added for no reason.

I'm sure we'll get an episode of them pretending to do plumbing, and maybe even a separate one for the electrical as well. The idea that stripping the drywall and insulation took them weeks/months is laughable. That's a job a 2-4 day laborers can do in a couple of days with a rented dumpster in the driveway. Even the asbestos abatement shouldn't have taken that long as there shouldn't have been much to begin with if the place is only 40 years old.

edit: I just thought of something. Linus doing half-assed PEX installs with sharkbites to replace the plumbing instead of having a professional do it.

my favorite is all the low budget flips with bad aesthetics and cheap garbage fixtures that will take 50-80k to unfuck

The best part about these, is they'll grab some beat to shit place with a cash offer way below market value of anything else in the area, do their shitty 100k renovation, mark it back up to 500k and then as you said you're still out even more to un-fuck the place.

Then there's all of the new construction 4bed/2.5bath homes out in the middle of fucking nowhere 2 hours from anything that start at 500k., but you'll either be fighting the warranty, insurance, or builders for years while the place falls apart around you.

Meanwhile anything even in a suburb gets bought and flipped, maybe gets an extension added into the backyard to turn a 3bed/1bath house on a lot into a 4bed/2bath with 100 sqft of backyard remaining.

If you've ever seen coach busses of chinese people looking like they're touring real estate... that's exactly what they're doing.

What's bizarre is the other day I was listening to an old podcast episode from years back where the host was talking about how YouTube's days had to be numbered due to the entire Mr. Beast / Pedo on staff thing. Here we are now and Mr. Beast is still doing his thing, and this video seems to have Tech Negro in it too (the one who drove 90mph through a school zone).

The business must really be tanking if he's willing to compete for a million dollars.
Back in the day, if celebrities competed like this the money would go to charity.

I don't think we're in the decline of LTT, since we're still in a world of Mr. Beast and other lolcows going strong when they should have crashed and burned out long ago. That faggoty Canadian narcissist will probably still be doing retarded shit that gets added to this thread five years from now.
