P4R looks better than I expected and it definitely feels Atlus is trying harder with this iteration compared to P3R (just the fact that they got Kozuka to compose the new soundtrack already makes me excited) and I don't think this is them turning P4 into P5 since the former was already overtly stylish to begin with and the latter took many cues from its visuals for its own so I just see it as an evolution of its established style. I learned my lesson from the first P5 teaser and wont bother psychoanalysing P6's teaser because knowing Atlus they'll probably just abandon everything like they always do.
I'm starting to think fully abandoning the original iteration of persona 3's: the player should only influence the party through Social Links and communication, not direct command, is how we get to Prime Time, you just win no downsides button.
compare persona 3 director's reasoning for no manual party control, then read Prime Time again.

I'd LOVE to read the reasoning for Prime Time and compare that shit to the top.
you just KNOW it would be "it's for the retards"
A lot of this just reads like cope because "we designed a really outdated battle system that people did not like because the AI was retarded" there's a reason why it was abandoned for direct control and why even with the option to turn it on with the newer games nobody has bothered to. I should also note that Revival seem to have outright abandoned "Tactics" altogether thus bookending it all.

The discussion of the franchise because too easy is hysterical because I remember that Persona has ALWAYS been considered SMT for BABBIES even back when P3 was released and I just see all these new gameplay elements just a continuation of what they always strived for and people are huffing copium if they think they're going to abandon that mindset just because a few tryhards on the internet complained about it.

P4 also famously had an incel villain which I'm very curious to see how they handle that because the rhetoric surrounding dating/gender relations had gotten much more hysterical and retarded since the original game.
Man you just reminded me that a character like Adachi would never be appealing to the current gay and retarded subspace of internet fandom who need characters to not be complete dirtbags in order to like them. Adachi was one of the early examples of "popularity via memes" and he was infamous for different reasons in Japan and the west and so popular that even the devs didn't understand why.

Akechi who is just a gamer and gayer version of Adachi is currently the most popular character in P5 and he is everything I hate about character fagging amongst internet fandom him being a shitty character is worse in itself but the fangirls who would obsess over him is even more grating to witness. I doubt Adachi will have the same impact he did back then because he is just far too relatable compared to Akechi.

Maybe this is not canon because it was only portrayed in the first anime, but part of Kanji's internal conflict with his masculinity is because he thought liking Naoto, pretty things and wearing speedos made him gay and gay men are creepy.
That's like core to his identity.

Dudes are generally afraid of him and keep distance as a result, girls are mean to him and he's afraid of them as a result - Naoto is the first person who's generally nice to him (and weirdly pretty for a dude...) and he isn't sure what the feelings are combined with his feelings around what a "man's man" should be compared to what he is - with the sewing, liking cute things, and being afraid of girls.

He's basically a 14 year old version of a future Yakuza main-character.

Apparently Chies english VA (Erin Fitzgerald) isn't handling the recast well

And apparently she has taken to her discord and seething and coping hard

Keep in mind, this bitch didn't even voice the OG Chie in Persona 4. Only in Golden and the Anime. Sad display from a grown woman!

I didin't even like her in Golden lol.

By the way, did she not reject returning to voice Ramlethal in Guilty Gear because that would be her wearing "black face"? How can you use that logic when you voice a Japanese teenage girl? These fucking "people" man...

While having tranny Naoto is still a maybe, they will absolutely change the full cast for Chinks, Pajeets and Niggers.

It's important to note that Erin got in as a recast in Golden (she wasn't in P4Vanilla). Not sure why you would take a recast but then be surprised when you, yourself, get recast. She hasn't been Chie since 2014 (or 12 years ago).

Also the entire Persona 3 VA squad got recast in Reload also because they're all old now (even though they're reused as older NPCs) not sure why she thinks this would be any different seeing as she's fucking 53 years old and was most recently Futuba's mom in P5.

Still doesn't explain why Wendee Lee continues playing the nigga in bleach.

what, you dont play the games with japanese audio? youre already gonna be spending the time reading the text. may as well sub before domdub

I genuinely don't understand how anyone can play JRPGs with an English dub if Japanese audio and subs is an option.

The English language voice actor are all fucking terrible. It all sounds like 1990s Manga Video stuff.

This is straight up horseshit especially when they kept Tara Platt on as Elizabeth. Its largely because of pay salaries and union bullshit but in the case of Vic (Junpei) and Karen (Aegis) they just didn't want to upset twitter trannies. Also most of the Japanese cast are already in their late 50's to early 60's so it just makes the decision to recast them in the dub all the more scummy.

Persona 5 ran out of gas when they cucked the fuck out of the immature rebellion message because god forbid the Japanese public will blame the creators in wrongthink.
The games have been cucking out in this way for awhile though. I would argue Strange Journey Redux is the ultimate in cucking out.

They also portray Akechi as a tragic figure instead of a complete psychopath.
It's because they realized he was amazing fujoshi bait with Joker, I'd say.

The beginning of the rot in the franchise was "Neutral Cuck" becoming the standard good ending. Which arguably happened in either 3 or Strange Journey.
That is a fair point.

As an aside, it's funny how I said SJ Redux is the ultimate in cucking out and then only after remembered that Alex is the protagonist's likely daughter by Luciferian spermjacking.

A big mistake P5 made was having a bunch of party members not actually go to Ren's school.

In P3 and P4 every party member was a classmate and the entire game outside the dungeon crawling revolved around the school sim element. Hell P3 even put the clanker in a schoolgirl outfit and sent her to class.

In P5 there are multiple thieves who don't go to Ren's school and yea there are lore reasons for this.

Yasuke is a prodigy so he goes to special art school, Futaba is a redditor who would sperg out so she's homeschooled, haru is a rich girl so she goes to private school.

But the issue is since they're not classmates outside of the MQ you barely ever see them or interact with them.

Actually speaking of Haru if you're one of the twelve or so Haru waifufags out there you got shafted hard. After her dungeon she barely exists as a character.

I remember multiple times my first playthrough she showed up in a cutscene and I was like "wait who are you again? Oh yeah her dad was Elon Musk and got killed by the femboy."

haru is a rich girl so she goes to private school.
Thats the funnier thing - Haru DOES go to the same school you do. She's just such a non character that unless you remember seeing her on the Summer Trip, you'd be forgiven for not realizing she goes to your school.

They seemed to realize this themselves - Royal I do remember running into her around the school a couple times before her arc - but the game still gives you no real time to start to give a shit about her.
