If 20-something year old Lindsay existed in modern times, she wouldn't have much sex appeal in the nerd space 'cause Lindsay has always been pretty open about her mudsharking with jeets. The 240p video quality made it hard to tell, but she seemed pretty decentlooking and you could tell she had decent sized boobs. Besides, rose tinted glasses hide plenty of flaws.

You weren't kidding. I was shocked by some of the directorial choices Lindsey made, given the whole premise of the film is "clinics need to give aftercare so crazy pro-lifers can't sink their hooks into women." For example, there is a scene where her mother mocks a pro-life group, and warns Lindsey that they are going to use her. Then it jump cuts to the members comforting Lindsey.



The film later shows the pro-life group thanking Lindsey for shifting their point of view. They agree they should be less judgmental of the women who've had abortions.



In this way, they are more open-minded and more helpful than Lindsey's mother, who doesn't want her to feel any guilt or sorrow. But that's not what Lindsey needs to hear. She needs someone to understand, and help her work through it.

The film directly juxtaposes the mother's experience with abortion, and Lindsey's experience with abortion. Lindsey's mother had an abortion after a rape, and she went in with no doubts and no regrets. Lindsey was in a consensual relationship with a guy her family liked. The motivating factor for the abortion was financial/ stage of life. She wanted to look into adoption instead. She even asked family members if they would take the baby. But ultimately she goes through with the abortion, because the baby daddy said no to adoption.

The other women she interviews in the film have similar abortion stories. After these interviews, it cuts to a pro-lifer saying the majority of abortions aren't because of rape or to save the life of the mother. I assume Lindsey was trying to make two points here. The first being, the majority of woman who have abortions are like her, and will need counseling. The second being that pro-lifers understand the issue better than pro-choicers in some respects.



She shows a lot of restraint throughout the film too. She interviews an extremely pro-life Christian woman, who has a memorial for her four abortions. This isn't treated as a joke in anyway.




While the film is better than I expected, it's still peak lolcow behavior. I can't imagine revealing something this personal to the world. Or saying this outloud about an aborted pregnancy.

I was amused by how millennialcore this film is. It feels like a time capsule.

The point was to get people to actually talk about abortion beyond the surface level shit and go into the reality of what it means to get one. And no one talked about it because it wasn't released.

As a project, I think it did what it was supposed to. I like that she presented both sides without judgement, just let them say their piece and left it to the audience to decide what to think. And she actually talked to women who'd had abortions, rather than get some feminists who couldn't get fucked if their life depended on it to scream "It's just a clump of cells" at the camera. You see their regret and hear their stories. I just wish she hadn't made it so personal. I guess it was to show that she was speaking from experience, but she did put too much of herself into it.

That part about clinics not having after care and just kicking patients out the second they were done was pretty eye opening. Feels like something more women should be aware of. Like how trans people aren't told dilation is forever, not something you just do for a while.

The film isn't the worst thing in the world for a student project in the late 2000's, especially if she wanted to make actual documentaries (not Youtube video essays). It's probably as ambitious as Lindsay ever got, lots of doors have been opened for her over the years and she never really did much with the opportunities. More video essays, Transformers fanfic novels, etc.
