WARNING: Video game modding autism ahead.

A Hearts of Iron IV/Paradox Interactive YouTuber by the name of Error Log recently made a video series cataloging the drama going on for a HoI4 mod called The Great War Redux, with the whole crux of it being boiled down to "le heckin' evil angry chuds who say retard and nigga", it should be noted that the TGWR devs are giant homosexuals themselves and not le heckin' based chuds.

What is of interest is that this was Error Log's second video after making a video on The New Order: Last Days of Europe, one of the biggest mods for HoI4, and...

He's doing it to promote his own version of a modding organization, that's why both him and LoreDad promoted a WW1 mod that was already part of their group (the Loresaw Pact). He's trying to discredit the competition because they're in it for the clout and not to make a mod. Look at the end of LoreDad's video about Error Log. Because it's something that can get you a lot of loyal 'fans' for very little effort. People are more skeptical now, of course, but posting a few toozers on a few reddits and maybe editing a few videos and you can have a few thousand people listen to whatever soapbox you wanna stand on for the week in your discord, willing or not. Most zoomers want to be influencers in the first place, so naturally a lot will be attracted to diehard autistic communities that are easy to jump into.

Usually these are leftists because the rightists are more interested in making their country of origin overpowered.

The whole thing is irrelevant except for the LoreDad part. That's the interesting thing. He put out a video saying "wow it's so awesome that this tiny content creator came out of nowhere and made such an impact, how unexpected! please join my discord so we can establish community conduct standards for hoi4 modding and beg paradox to give us some kind of authority. to protect modders from abuse, or something". Meanwhile that "tiny uknown content creator" is a guy from his discord he sent out to make the videos without associating his own brand with stirring drama. It smells bad.

In hindsight I guess it's not surprising that modding attracts control freaks.

This is such a bizarre criticism. You're talking about a mod where the nazis won WW2, that in and of itself can be called nazi propaganda. He's soyraging over what, Heydrich not killing himself? Yet he was fine with the multiple instances of high ranking nazi officials becoming wholesome chungus social democrats in the original mod?
