🌟 Internet Famous Linus Gabriel Sebastian & Linus Media Group / Linus Tech Tips - Narcissistic corporate shill YouTuber driving his media empire into the ground. KILL COUNT: 2

I think part of the reason people are turning on Linus/Linus Media Group generally is that everyone else in the tech YouTube sphere save for the biggest of big guys actively AVOID going corporate because it makes doing shit like this look retarded. He's probably paying the guys who left close to $100k/year if what we're speculating here is true and they are THE REASON the channel was doing OK during the Gamers Nexus beef, and then he buys a PRIVATE JET for the company after they leave?

When you're a big "media group" you keep the "legacy talent" that built the channel or kept things going during tough times on board unless they become an image liability/brand risk or demand too much money. If they demand slight raises and wanna take content risks, and things are going so well that you are spending money on things that may as well be vanity projects with no real yield, letting them go is LOSING YOU GOODWILL. It looks fucking dumb to let the closest thing you have to a creative asset go for issues you can (to my understanding of the situation) solve by just being willing to vary your content schedule and pay people more and then throw money at some other garbage.

But I guess this is the direction LTT is generally going STILL. Linus is the "personality core" of the brand even after attempts to move away from that structure multiple times because he's controversy-prone evidently so now we're just gonna sell screwdrivers and do cookie cutter YouTube content for AdSense until we can't anymore.

All the dude needs to do is not engage. No vague "I won't tell you the real story" posts, just shut the fuck up. It's such a sign of an immature poor leader that constantly engages with criticism from the outside and on top of that he goes about it in a teen girl emo posting way.

I think all the "fame" has just gone to Linus's head and ego, he is over here spending all this money like he is some mega star celebrity, who has the money and salary to be able to do, private jets like what he has are more the realm of very rich sports stars, like Formula 1 drivers for example. Max Verstappen, 4 time world champion who gets paid 60 million a year without his personal sponsorships bought a private jet fairly recently, within the last couple of years, and Fernando Alonso, another current racer and former champion, has one too, the same model as Linus no less. Alonso gets paid an estimated at 15 million a year just from Aston Martin, again without his personal sponsorships included.

That is the level of delusion Linus is on, that he thinks he is operating on that level of rich and famous.

Is it his slant eye wife that has him by the balls, like Anisa and iDubbz? Chingchongs can be extremely ruthless, cutthroat and stingy, because they had to/have to be in China. Funny to see yet another politically left retard preach water while drinking wine at least.

Reasons why Jake quit in his own video.

tl;dw
- Projects had too limited time to complete, never properly finished
- Production hell with too many heads and delegation issues
- Low pay, "working on bosses 3rd house"
@LinusTech I'm going to say this since for some reason all the businessmen YTers seem to not know how to run a public facing media business.
If you pay your people well, the risk of them snaking you drastically decreases, and even if they do, the defense "I was paying them 3x market rate + media promotion" is pretty bullet proof, even if you're doing "unethical" business practices.

For example, if you were paying this guy $300,000 CAD, along with channel promotion, and hell maybe even commission on successful video ideas, he would never have said a fuckin word.
Not only that, but you don't need to hire 80 people for a tech YouTube channel, I don't care how big it is.
This is the problem that these youtubers turned "business owners" run in to. Thinking that since they run a growing business, they need to hire people alongside that growth.

The reality is if you pay people enough, they'll figure it the fuck out. This isn't a traditional job, and anybody getting hired should know that.
So if instead of having 80 people where some of them are just "writing scripts", you only had 20 people who basically did everything, you could pay those 20 people 3x more than they're currently making, and on average you'll still save money.

Steam, the largest digital games store front in the world, only has 79 employees.
So just for perspective, the billion dollar gaming industry leader has less employees than the Canadian small business tech company with a youtube channel.

I might accept shit pay if the business was actually tight. Or it seemed that something meaningful was done or money went to something sensible.

But LTT seems to be none of this. Money is not tight, it is wasted constantly. Content is meaningless. No hard hitting pieces like GN. At least they invest to something autistic like chamber or fan tester... Where as LTT puts it in owners house or some idiotic video idea.

Not to forget unimaginable bloat. With seemingly completely useless people. As the stories of what keeps going on tells that they have no one with actual oversight. You only need a few assholes with rights to call bullshit and order people to sort stuff for things to work. But maybe that is not suitably kindergarten experience for unstable workers...

And private jet? How expensive can business class flights be for Linus? The staff gets boxed up and shipped... Or just chartering one when needed.... Pure insanity.

Where as LTT puts it in owners house or some idiotic video idea.
I still stand by the belief that LTT house fuckery would work if they were actually doing cool or weird shit. Not just "I put some speakers in the roof" or "Smartlights" I wanted them to take the old workshop and their ex engineer, and build a smart home system that would via robotics and jank ass sliding mechanisms, preheat the oven and put a frozen pizza into it so that it'd be done 15 minutes after you normally get home, fully hands free, just stock the pizza freezer magazine with unwrapped pizzas.

Is it absolutely dumb and impractical? Hell yea. Is it peak smart home? Also hell yea.

Instead, they ignored all the things they had the means to do, and did the most boring, bargain basement tech they could. LTT tried to embrace being the dumb fun tech space, but forgot how to do dumb fun.

This guy opened his video with a bunch of selfies. It actually changed my mind and I'm glad Linux is a piece of shit who underpays his employees.
Funny you mention that, I was always wondering about this. Linus is always showing his new houses, 200-inch TVs, and soon there will be a big jet, and other crazy stuff he buys for himself. But when it's a video about his workers, they always live like some poor students, despite being 30 or 40+ year-old men. I know that the boss is supposed to be richer, but come on, at least he should give those workers that appear in his videos some dignity.

Laundering money via aircraft is quite possibly the worst way to do it, with how highly regulated and attended to they are. It's going to have a miserable return rate, and be difficult to wash out to the relevant people.

But you're right that its a retarded idea - I still stand by it based on the name. I really do think he's just making a really stupid fucking decision.
lol, yeah there's a reason why shit like a carwash, laundromat, dry cleaner, etc. is a good money laundering front. Little regulation, cheap materials you can just dump the excess of, mostly cash transactions, not having a bunch of external eyes on things, etc. Get some real customers, order 4x the amount of soap or whatever and dump the excess down the drain as needed so if the tax man comes looking at your books you're still ordering the right number of supplies, and aren't doing anything you can't just hide in the back room.

Fuck, that's why the somali daycare fraud was so damned obvious. Bunch of morons setting up shop in spaces too small and not bothering to have any customers instead of just fudging the numbers so anyone just sitting across the street in a car could watch the place for a couple of business days and notice something was wrong. An airplane? Even claiming you're booking it for influencer photo shoots instead of flights, that's still going to be at an airport with cameras and other people everywhere and of course a clientele list since people probably wouldn't be paying cash for something like that. Even if you claimed you charged $1000 a day, with a customer literally every day of the year that'd still only be $365,000 annually and someone could just watch the hangar with binoculars from outside the airport and see no one is actually doing that.

after switching presidents and a year late, lmgay has produced these standard spec meeting cables

I went back and rewatched after linus' wife goof.

Yvonne hired Jake to fix the warehouse for like, a teenage job where you shitcan them at the end of the month. And then luke was like "No, he said the computer case is shit and he's right"

He also said the job role thing was constantly a sore point to the fact he got an award for it?

I always thought he was a fucking idiot but now it looks like that's how they framed the videos. Also thank fuck he finally grew a goatee out, the mutant pedo stash was horrible.

Tranthony totally stole Emily Butt's first name. The fact Jake left despising LTT is some real talk. And if he'd actually fired off his ultimatums Yvonne would have canned his ass.
And he hates her. LOL.

LTT is, at this point, a dropshit webstore brand with a techslop youtube channel bolted onto it for marketing.
It is the home shopping network for 30-40 year old people who collect toys instead of boomers.

It is just a high production advertisement and once in a while they put together a lazy content video, like reacting to twitter pictures to maintain their "whacky fun tech videos!!@221".
If it is not a blatant advertisement or "reacting" it is either;
  • collab with currently trending person : (SOYFACE thumbail; BUILDING A PC FOR MR JIMMYBEAST)
  • re-do of one of their highest earning videos (all wish pc, all wish setup, all wish home theatre, how to build a pc - third person POV VRCHAT RIZZ edition!!!1)
  • spotlight on chink trash from 20 years ago that should be in a landfill (SOYFACE thumbail; SCAM?! / THIS 20$ CHINK EWASTE IS BETTER THAN A 4090???!?)
  • a merch advertisement (WHY IT TOOK 20 YEARS FOR ME TO GET A CHINK FACTORY TO GET OUR MOLDS RIGHT FOR THIS 5$ SCREWDRIVER)
Linus tech tips is an advertisement channel. Here is one of the most obscene recent examples;
why anyone would watch this trash is beyond me.

one of these products is supposedly literally chink spyware and they told a bunch of retards to buy it for christmas lol.
pure dogshit does tech jesus have to die for our sins?

Sore point wasn’t the impression I got. More like it was something celebrated or joked about. As he mentioned, when he was hired it was a small company and people wore a lot of hats. There must always scope for role change or evolution given that his warehouse organisation interview involved a PC teardown.

I didn’t really get the impression that he hates Yvonne and I think you are all reading a lot into the “the other wife” comment when the keys are close enough that it was very plausibly a typo (also note that his third option was a non-standard “in the middle” which implies he’s talking about two sides). I can definitely see him not liking her given her boring neurotic personality but I’m not sure why people think she’s the stingy one other than her being Chinese and doing the books in the early years. I bet Linus is the stingy one.

I think part of the reason people are turning on Linus/Linus Media Group generally is that everyone else in the tech YouTube sphere save for the biggest of big guys actively AVOID going corporate because it makes doing shit like this look retarded.
It's not even tech YouTubers who are either turning on Linus or didn't like him in the first place.

My hypothesis as to why many former Linus fans have gone off him is because they've grown out of watching his slop. LTT was always aimed at wannabe script kiddie and 1337 h4x0r types, maybe capturing the odd gullible parent in the process. It's probably why pajeets love Linus so much; most of them have the mental age of about 14 and admiration for Linus's veneer of izzat.

Meanwhile within my cohort of fellow tech autists, I'm yet to find anyone over 35 who takes Linus seriously. Some of the guys I know aged 40+ just flat out a-log the guy because he doesn't know shit from clay.

I guess that's what happens when you go from being an almost credible source of PC-related info to a muppet who tries (and fails) to bring Top Gear sensibilities into tech videos infomercials.

Like everything from the LTT store, it's mostly for people who want to support their favorite multi-millionaire youtuber. But it's curious that they are making more and more of that merchandise, either there are a lot of retarded people in the LTT community who are willing to throw their own money at Linus, or they are planning on branching out to hardware production, hence all that intensive R&D when they are trying to figure out how cables and screwdrivers work.

Surprised nobody mentioned that GameLinked posted today, out of nowhere after like a years absence.

And yes, he walked in frame with a carton of some kind of soy milk to open the video. Which I suppose is in character for the company.

As usual, they're late to the party with most of the news, but that's a given these days with a scheduled format. Still, its amusing to me that despite disappearing for so long, its almost immediately performing as well as their other videos. Not particularly great for LTT's numbers as a whole, but its somewhat impressive and indicative of how weak the channel performance is, if such a hiatus doesn't do squat to them.
