What is even the audience that she's targeting/"defending"? Sure, there are a lot of people watching anime, and there's definitely deaf viewers among them. But how many of those people refuse to read the standard, translated subs and instead want transcripts of the dubbed dialogue? Is there a "sub subtitles" vs "dub subtitles" debate going on among deaf weebs that I didn't know about?

Small update from your local language sperg. I managed to show his tweets to a Japanese friend of mine this weekend. His Japanese is way worse than I imagined. I earlier said that his Japanese was really odd but in reality it is so much worse. We collectively burst out laughing at how stupid so much of his tweets sounded like and they were completely unable to understand anything he was trying to say. We in particular laughed at this tweet on November 24:

So knowing how lazy she is, I doubt she's actually studied to be able to pass the N3 after 15 years. Supposedly Chibi was wanting to try to pass the N3 at the end of last year, and would probably be more able to do so actually having recently(even if only for a few months) been immersed in the language by actually being in Japan. But with no comments claiming he ever passed the N5 or N4 at any point they might be on par with eachother, but again Chibi has had that recent months long immersion which should(for a normal person) make a difference.

What's the point of doing the N4 anyway? At least with N3 you've shown a certain understanding of the language and if you want to live and work in Japan you should be at N2 and it's not like you need to pass the earlier levels to take the test anyway so it's really just an ego thing when you get down to it.

It's more to do with your professional life. If you work where Japanese is necessary then the JLPT is a way to demonstrate this.

N4, the one she was going for, is a beginner level. It's the second lowest and could be used to show your willingness to learn. However she literally has no use for it. She's not suddenly going to be offered jobs to do some localization or translation because of that. She's doing it because she's a weeb and she thinks that this could mean business opportunities in Japan like suddenly some place would hire her because she's shown a basic understanding of the language. At best she'd get a job as a dancing monkey... or maybe orangutan in her case.

A real Japanese company wants somebody who speaks the language and can communicate effectively in it and there's enough people in Japan that can speak both English and Japanese. No need for her.
