One was pushed into defending territorial lines from foreign tanks being parked on them, the other went in to a county that has no connection to it for the sake of oil, shekels and at the behest of the MIC.
Neither should have happened, but to excuse or ignore what America did while cheering/defending the territorial landgrab/defensive war, is peak NPC.

Muh "rightful sphere of influence" faggots when the US does a better job at patrolling its hemisphere.
Venezuela was an enemy state that did everything in its meagre power to antagonize America. From giving giving petroleum to other enemy states like Cuba, giving safe haven to drug cartels that purposefully bring in drugs that kill thousands of our citizens per year, to intentionally flooding America with the criminals they let go from their prison, to giving refuge to adversarial countries like Russia and China, and inviting those same nations to bring in weapons that could threaten American shipping in the area. This was our neighborhood they're fucking with and we've put up with shit for years because we kept to the International Liberal Rules Based Order thinking that other countries would respect our boundaries.
Except that didn't happen, and ironically enough it the most pathetic alliance in modern history that decided we should return to a multipolar "might makes right, will to power, realpolitik" kind of world and then embarrassed themselves on the world stage when it was actually time to go into action.
Even if "foreign tanks were being parked in Ukraine"... so fucking what? It's not America's or Europe's fault that Russia is such an incompetent, corrupt shithole that every country with any real options decides to immediately get out of its sphere of influence. Nor is it America's fault that Russia decided to invade Ukraine and get tangled up in a conflict that's dragged on for 4 years, lost them half a million of their population, and has completely tanked the idea that they're a peer to the US.
As much as I've hated smug Europoor bureaucrats for the last ten years, I've easily grown to hate the "might makes right, we should return to a multipolar world where the weak fear the strong" assholes, especially when they proceed to piss and moan when they don't turn out to be the strong and whine at the US for actually doing things they're financially and militarily incapable of doing. Bonus points for then obsessively digging for something a Rabbi said once in a video from 2005 to deflect to Israel.

I don't know if it's true, but it sounds like a plausible explanation. Delcy can't just openly cuck and has to put up a nationalist front, but this is why we have contradictory statements from different officials. If this is true we may see Trump give face-saving concessions.
