Creepy Unsolved Mysteries - From unsolved murders to unidentified people to unexplained supernatural events, what are some of the creepiest unsolved mysteries you've ever heard of?

IF there is truth to it and this theory is the explanation, I suppose the explanation could be that father and son had serious anger issues.

I don't actually believe it. I've heard secondhand from a law professor close to the case that OJ was indisputably guilty, though it's been such a long time I don't remember what inside information he had that was so convincing. But OJ's son being the real killer is the only thing that explains the brutality of the scene (whether or not they shared anger issues, I can easily see Little Juice resenting the shit out of Nicole and thinking he was doing his dad a favor) and whatever mental breakdown it was that precipitated OJ's jaunt in the white Bronco.

Oh, he's definitely guilty. Him driving off in the Bronco confirmed it for me.

Don't ciphers often contain deliberate misspellings to up the difficulty?
That, and notes by criminals are often written in a stilted way, including deliberate grammatical errors and spelling mistakes, to throw off investigators. It makes it harder to analyze writing samples to determine a document's source, which is actually the biggest part of what did Kacyznski in. Granted, Kacyznski was probably less concerned about getting caught than about making his manifesto seem respectable by that point in his life (people who kill for an ideology are often willing to die for it), but I'm still not really seeing this as necessarily evidence that the Zodiac was stupid. Mistakes in the investigation are probably the biggest part of why he was never caught, but he was definitely more organized than impulsive. He wasn't the brilliant supervillain he made himself out to be, but he was clever for a serial killer.

Just want to point out that it was Nicholas Pileggi who wrote the actual book if anyone is interested in looking it up, it's about Henry Hill.
You are, of course, correct.
This is the only alternate OJ theory that's even remotely plausible.
Heard about it before and i agree. I am still 100% convinced OJ is guilty as sin and never will falter in my conviction. IIRC even Robert Kardashian or one of his other lawyers eventually came to that conclusion after successfully defending him. I think the funniest OJ thing is that he somehow still managed to land his ass in prison for that bungled robbery/kidnapping thing years later. Just completely moronic.

It boggles my mind that the court listened to those 911 calls where OJ was obviously wanting to hurt her, and none of that made an impact on how guilty he was.

The thing with serial killers applies to  most killers, actually. They're generally very impulsive, which correlates to lower intelligence.

Not everyone with impulse control problems is a dumbass. You can get your brain fucked in ways that make you more likely to be impulsive, like Bipolar mania/hypomania, BPD, AsPD, etc., regardless of intelligence. In general, though, greater impulsivity is tied to lower intelligence even in people with those conditions, and straight-up killing someone out of rage (or especially for fun) is about as impulsive as it gets.

Última edición:
A lot of serial killers get away due to police incompetence and the justice system being too overburdened that they can't possibly give every case the amount of time and attention they need. BTK, for example, a couple of his would-be victims noticed him stalking them and reported him to the police but outside of a few restraining orders nothing came of it. John Wayne Gacy, too, was brought in for questioning for a few of the victims he'd ultimately be connected to, but he'd admit to having gay sex with the victim and the police would just write it off as fag shenanigans and drop it.

Same with Dahmer.

The reason I wonder about this is because I believe that there were a couple of pretty bad spelling errors in one of his solved ciphers, which indicates a lower level of education/intelligence and/or potentially someone who isn't the cryptographic genius many think he is/was.
Or he intentionally misspelled stuff because the first one was cracked so easily due to proper spelling. He would misspell paradise as "paradice." They only recently cracked one of his ciphers after how many decades and this was with modern technology. He was pretty skilled at it.

It isn't. It's absolutely retarded for a million reasons.
What about the Green River Killer?
Ridgeway was smart enough to clip the nails of his victims to get rid of DNA under their nails, would change the tires on his truck often, poured battery acid on the scratches one victim left on him, and so on.
He also took cigarettes from ashtrays and business cards from those restaurant raffle things to drop at his dump sites.
The Green River Killer, Gary Ridgway, one of the most prolific serial killers in history, had an IQ in the low 80s, showing that success at such behavior is barely tied to IQ. The main reason he got away with it so much is he just stuck to low-value targets like prostitutes that nobody would miss and had a simple MO and stuck to it.
There's ample evidence his intelligence was a lot higher than is often reported. He would deliberately take some of his "dates" to get food and never hurt them. When the detectives showed them Ridgway, they'd say, "You think Gary is the Green River Killer?! No way."

They suspected him for years. I think they found paint from the factory he worked at at some of the dump sites, but that wasn't the smoking gun, just corroborating evidence. His co-workers jokingly called him Green River Gary due to his personality, unknowing that he's actually GRK. 80 IQ person is unlikely to hold down a consistent job like him for years and years and also a successful marriage.
Kind of like how a lot of killers had some kind of TBI or head injury, stuff like that.
That's more to do with damn near everyone hitting their heads pretty hard as kids. Didn't you?

Granted, but we're talking about a case where people believe, apparently with great sincerity, that the screamingly obvious murderer was framed by anonymous drug dealers for shady but definitely nefarious purposes. The bar for "reasonable alternate theories" is quite low.

Richard Ramirez had two head injuries, so that's proof of it. I remember there were claims that Richard was very different in his youth, and his personality changed.

It makes me wonder if it was the head injuries. Although his cousin was also a psycho.

I thought it went OJ Son was the dealer and OJ was intentionally muddying the waters to help his son, like how Casey Anthony's dad helped
