They didn’t though? It was established that the Hills lived in a fancy Americanized suburb owned by his company. Their only exposure to Muslims was Peggy haggling at the local food market, and she immediately threw off that hijab the moment she got back in the truck. And the only thing Hank seemed to get out of it was a weird love of soccer.

There are certainly things to hate about this new season: the new voice actors, Dale in general, why the hell is Nancy with Redcorn again, Kahn’s divorce. But it’s not THAT damn bad. There’s certainly things to love, such as Bobby being an all around fantastic guy.

Hell, I even kinda liked Willow (she wasn’t pushy about her beliefs, called out the ENM nonsense, and won over Hank). But Bobby wisely decided she wasn’t the one for him and acknowledged he was still in love with Connie. Now that’s what’s called being a grown up.

I'd say season 14 is better than Futurama's first season on Hulu, but that's not saying much. I think the problem is that this season felt more like trying to explain where everyone is at now instead of entertaining episodes. Some of the jokes are fine, others fall flat, Khan's new voice sucks. I can only cope and say maybe the next season will be better now that every character's status is accounted for.

I think what hurt this season to a lot of viewers is that it's really only half a season. They made 20 episodes but only released the first ten so far.

What we have seen so far is the first half of the first season of the revival, all the foundation-laying for the new run, but nothing building on that base yet.

My issue with Bobby being such a good character is that, in future seasons, he's gonna take prominence over Hank because writers are unable to relate to someone who's not their own demographic. In general, modern writers suck at balancing characters once they chose a favorite, but not necessarily because they're favorites, rather to push their own ideas.

A reverse Randy Marsh problem. I like the age up, as it opens up new stories.

The first episode is exceptionally bad. Try watching the second one and tap out if you still dont like it.

There's a big push in the media to rehabilitate Saudi Arabia's image. It's not crazy in this show, but I do think KotH is part of a larger trend.

Earlier, I said how it's so Hank for him to give a four-star rating to an Uber driver to "work on improvement." The actual episode revealed that Hank was back-seat driving during the ride.

"You might want to check on your idling engine, driver." Something like that. Nice curveball. I felt that Uber driver's response to Hank's four-star rating despite going above and beyond.

What makes it even funnier is if a rideshare or delivery driver gets an average of 4.8 or less they are basically are considered unworthy and lose most of their offers. So giving a 4 star rating is basically saying they should be fired.

A bit late to the party, so I don't have a ton to say that hasn't already been repeated verbatim in the thread a dozen times already. Some thoughts:

- Andrew Tate episode was kind of dumb. Not infuriatingly bad, just kind of dumb.
- Most voice actors are just as good with the exceptions of Dale and especially Kahn holy shit it's so bad.
- Digital animation will never look as good as the traditionally animated early seasons but that's just the world we live in now I guess
- Kahn and Minh's divorce actually makes sense and could provide some interesting plot lines

I really really appreciate how they developed adult Bobby's character. He very much feels like the logical step for a matured Bobby, and it's apparent how Hank's parenting influenced him in his work ethic and his general outlook on life. It would have been super easy to take the lazy route and make him some hardcore university-educated liberal to create infinite conflict with Hank but they didn't do that. He's similar to Hank but with key personality differences that create new avenues for storytelling. Emilio is a good character and I hope we see him develop in the coming episodes.

I think a lot of these shows that get rebooted have a tendency to go "hey look at this current thing going on in Current Year" and do episodes about them, and it always bothers the shit out of me. The Futurama reboot was an obvious example of this. I think it actually works in KoTH's favor though because the core of the show was always about the friction between Hank and the world changing around him so seeing him annoyed about traffic calming measures or trying to use that handyman app makes sense.

Dale's voice is... Fine? It's not great, but I got used to it by the end. Making Dale an antimasker type guy makes sense but given how much conspiracy shit has penetrated the mainstream since the end of the original show I was hoping they'd get more creative with it.

G.H. getting aged up a couple extra years didn't bother me that much. He's basically a non-character for the entire run of the original series so it's not like they're destroying some established legacy or something.

Good lord Kahn's voice is so bad. I never stopped noticing it. Chieng is hardly even trying. Kahn now has a voice that sounds like a 25-year-old Chinese guy trying to sound white. It is just straight up awful and probably the single worst aspect of this reboot for me.

Like any reboot I kind of went into this with low expectations but I was pleasantly surprised with how the new season turned out. I wouldn't say it's on par with the earlier seasons, but the first ~8 seasons are so good that this was never a reasonable expectation. "Not as good as the early seasons" doesn't mean "it was shit from a butt". I definitely enjoyed it more than I enjoyed the last couple seasons of the show when the seasonal rot was really setting in and you had dumbfuck episodes like the one where ZZ Top shows up. The new episodes are definitely better than those in my opinion and had some genuine laugh-out-loud moments in them, which is getting a little too rare in television. I'm optimistic that the next season will expand on what they've set up here and I hope they don't pull a The Last Jedi on us.
