yeah, no. There are some procedures you really, REALLY don't want too be awake for. For example, open heart surgery is LITERALLY the Norse "Blood Eagle". Your breast bone is split laterally in half, your ribs are splayed too the side, and the doctors go in and start touching parts of you that are not meant too be touched.

Even if you weren't feeling pain, I don't think the experience would be pleasant.

That's insane.

Being unanesthetized, or even inadequately anesthetized, for a surgical procedures is a great way to afflict yourself with intense PTSD that could easily haunt you for the rest of your life.

Unanesthetized surgery is literally torture.

Surgical anesthesia is nearly always administered with a team of medical professionals present, and, trust me, the last thing the people on that team care about is fiddling with the naughty bits of the slab of meat on the table to get their rocks off.

When you're on an OR table, you are not the ripe and juicy belle of the ball. You're just a side of beef covered in drapes, and a procedure to get done.
