Obsucure anime/manga you enjoy? - After watching some classics like æon flux and The Big O, I figured I should try to see what you guys like.

Not exactly an anime (or a manga for that matter) but Dies Irae is a good, weird, and unabashedly edgy VN that very little people in the West know about. Which is a good thing since half of the cast is unrepentant undead Nazis written in a sympathetic light.
Even less known (and arguably even better) is the prequel-sequel made by the same author set in the same universe called Black and White Avesta, which currently exists only in LN form. I had to pull some strings with some relatives in Japan specifically to get the first and second volumes because they weren't on Mandarake at the time. I don't know if people have translated the whole thing yet, but it's really good.
The anime for Dies Irae sucks. Avoid it like the plague.

Flame of Recca, its enjoyable and i liked it but i think the anime stops half away through the manga or near the end.

Sabikui Bisco, this isn't obscure but i dont really see people talk about it. I like the world building of it.

Idk if it's considered obscure but I watched Kemono Jihen as it was recommended by a friend when it came out and I haven't seen anyone talk about it since. It's a lot like Dandadan. Honestly a crime it will never get a season 2

A vampire girl and her sidekick/slave/lover/friend/whoever deliver punishment for sinners, one episode at a time, then some bigger things start happening.

Seto No Hanayome
Kid almost drowns, gets rescued by a mermaid.
Turns out, due to dumb mermaid laws, the kid and the mermaid girl must marry.
The father of the girl is the boss of mermaid Yakuza and he is desperately trying to kill the kid before the marriage happens.
There's also a popstar who is a mermaid that the kid has a crush on, her father is The Terminator (literally, glasses, leather, motorcycle, "I'll be back", the whole package).
Also there's a kid who also wants to marry the mermaid girl and he's a teenage Aquaman.
Funniest anime I've ever seen and it's not even close.

If you like rom-com, my obscure recommendation is Midori no Hibi - a guy in high school gets his dominant hand turned into a girl. The premise is absurd, but it's actually kinda good. Last I checked you could even watch the whole thing on YouTube. There are also a bunch of random lesser known anime movies that are worth checking out. Pompo: the Cinephile, Blue Giant, and the Tunnel to Summer, Exit of Goodbyes are a few Ive liked in recent memory.

OH MY GOD I SAW THAT ON TUBI…it was rather interesting, and pompo the cinephile was one I treasured in my mind.

Hyper Police is an interesting utopia where humans and beastmen live together and humans have been a protected minority. Even though it's got "police" in the name, they're more like bounty hunters for hire and the agency Natsuki and Sakura have been hired at is constantly at the verge of bankruptcy. The anime is rather cheap-looking, but it's got some fun action and character moments even though it has a very odd anime-only ending that I have no idea is if it's in the manga. Also has one of the most puzzling dub releases I have ever seen, there is like nothing on this series as to who was behind it and why, best I can find is the DVDs were (cheaply) released by Image Entertainment (now RLJ Entertainment). We only know Dorothy Elias-Fahn was the voice of Sakura the kitsune because her voice is distinct, for one thing, and someone had apparently asked her about it at a meet-and-greet. Natsuki's voice-actress also changed one time from the first episode, for some reason the first one quit or it was for a demo reel or something.

There is also a small defunct fansite dedicated to the series (I'll have to have a friend send it to me again if he still has the link sitting around), it's just a dead fandom. Really fascinating Internet mystery and I don't know if there's a way to solve it.

Paranoia agent mentioned, I remembered it clearly. My sibling was watching it back them when I was pretty young, and later in the years i decided to check it out. Absolute gem.

I should look into it, and there’s no translation? Dang, I’ll see what I can find in mangadex. Hopefully I can read it in Spanish if there’s a translation for that there.

I've watched 3 animes that I consider obscure because most normies haven't heard of them.

Last Exile: steam punk airship fun, its not perfect but I enjoyed it. I remember being turned off by occasional cgi usage and this was 2003-2004 range so it was very low effort.

AirGear: a pretty cool anime about racing on super rollerblades, it either was canceled or they rushed the ending, I believe the Manga it was based on had the same issue.

Samurai Deeper Kyo: pretty cool story with absolute terrible fight scenes (from my memory) it was a let down considering the story carries itself like it was going to be dark and gritty Berserk or Ninja Scroll-esque, instead I think it was just flashes of frames from the Manga. I cant remember specifically, but I remember it sucking in fights.

This may be a hot take, but I kind of feel Redline is becoming obscure even though it's really the best of what anime could be.

I finished reading Shuzo Oshimi's The Flowers of Evil, which is about a twisted love triangle of perversion and violence involving teenagers, and am now onto reading his series Blood on the Tracks, which is best described as a psychological horror about a boy and his manipulative mother, who tried killing his cousin by pushing him off a mountain.

There's more to it than the descriptions I gave, but I'm a phonefag, and don't feel like typing out a more detailed synopsis for these books, but trust me, they're good.

I should take a look at ichi the killer, sounds interesting even by the name itself.

I recently watched Mononoke and the movie, it was really good. I always wanted to watch it because the style is so unique, but I finally did. The movie was a trip.

I watched Dororo just last week, which is a remake of the 1969 anime from Osamu Tezuka based on his manga. The character design was updated, but the animation was good and just something about Tezuka's stuff that's great. It takes place right before the Waring States Era and is about a lord who sacrifices parts of his son to demon gods right as he's born for the prosperity of his lands and it's about the son getting his body parts back accompanied by an orphan named Dororo (yes Dororo is a kid, but I didn't find him annoying).
