Obsucure anime/manga you enjoy? - After watching some classics like æon flux and The Big O, I figured I should try to see what you guys like.
Not an anime guy at all but I love weird outsider psychological horror manga and especially ones that defy your expectations, so here's a couple of those which may or may not have been mentioned:
Happiness is a manga about a student getting involuntarily turned into a vampire and slowly spiraling into insanity dealing with the consequences. It goes a lot of really unsettling places that have nothing to do with vampires and is effectively an anti-power fantasy. Would make a great low-budget film adaptation.
The Creepy and Freaky is an anthology series about a happy little animal crossing-esque animal town that has a shop that sells fear in boxes. If you've read Fuan no Tane it's heavily inspired by that.. at first. Stick with this one for a couple chapters even if you don't like the format, it's a slow burn that goes from a 4/10 to an 8.5/10 in about two pages. Dunno how obscure this one is at this point since it seems to be making the rounds fairly quickly in the last couple weeks.
Homunculus is a story about a homeless man who volunteers for a medical procedure that might give him ESP. The results are upsetting.
