There is no evidence Russia had any warning this was coming. Their ships bolted from port, their airbase personnel are evaccing in a fast hurry with whatever they can fit into BMDs. These are not the chess moves of a cool operator who is leaving on their own time table.

Why can't the 2nd strongest military in the world that is winning in Ukraine secure its own bases without Turkey's assistance?

Turkey and Russia were working together and working against each other, shit isn't black and white. The fact that the two countries talk and plan shit out isn't even 5D chess, it's just how things like that work. I'll even surprise you and tell you that US and Russia very likely talk over a lot of other things regarding Ukraine, despite being opponents right now. Assmad leaving safely was clearly part of the agreement, since he did so very late into the conflict and could've been easily shot down at any time. Rebels not even touching the regions that the Russians occupied and are just looming over their bases right now is another proof. It's all clear as day and you just need to shake off this pathetic vatnigger boogeyman you obsess over to see it.

Why would they divert going for Damascus to go for Latakia and Tartus when Damascus falling gets them Latakia and Tartus by default lol
