Russia will suffer more reputation damage from having the bases attacked by some loose groups and Erdogan will only shrug his shoulders saying it isn't his guys. I was thinking that Turkey wanted to recruit Russians to help wiping out the Kurds as fast as possible, but they might just conveniently leave the equipment for them as part of the deal. I know it sounds like cope, but that's what makes sense to me at the moment.

Anyway, why would Russia need to worry about its bases being attacked by Syrians? Russia has been in the country for decades, since the USSR days, surely that would mean they're popular wouldn't it?
