He's about 13, she had him in 2010.
I wouldn't be surprised if the littlun had decided he'd rather live with Dad. Prior to that though her ascent to fame involved stories of selling her child's toys and having to subsist on £10 a week to feed him mashed up weetabix for his dinner, while being repeatedly in precarious living situations and having to move into houseshares... the father would have a pretty decent argument for why he should win primary custody, assuming he had a stable income and place to live.
Given that we are p sure most of those claims were fabricated or at the very least exaggerated and that it would have worked against her to repeat them in a custody battle, I'd be really interested to hear what her SB's dad makes of her povvo LARP. Do you think she was publicly claiming to be on the breadline and at the same time telling custody mediators she was actually fine and could afford to keep her son? What a tightrope to be walking!

I am assuming custody was worked out privately between the two of them and that she has no formal agreement for that or child maintenance payments to the father as primary carer, but I am unclear on if the exact details of al that were ever publicised to begin with. It would behove her to have none of this stuff formalised if it conflicts with the image she presents as part of her 'career', but that doesn't mean there isn't a partial paper trail somewhere.

Mostly I'm just glad she DOESN'T appear to have primary custody , and that SB's dad is probably this better able to shelter him from the eventual fallout of her whole career being built on grift and lies. She mentioned in passing that he used to read her Xitter and no longer does bc troll or something, which if he is only just hitting adolescence seems hugely cavalier of her to have been allowing in the first place. Hopefully he sees very little of her and her chaoses day to day.

When she burst on the scene she claimed he didn't pay child support -
Johnny’s father, who is in a new relationship, does not pay child support despite being in full-time employment. But he looks after his son two nights a week as well as buying him shoes and clothes. Jackie feels her ex does all he can. The couple split up before Johnny was born.
Obviously he would have been legally required to pay child support to Jack (the "parent with care") if she'd demanded it, but purportedly she didn't want his money (thinking her Dad was going to bail her out) and they had a deal where he'd take the kid 3-4 nights a week in lieu of paying

From the sounds of it, he basically ended up paying child support in the form of giving Jack food etc and then took over parenting duties. At this point he probably could claim child support off her, but he sounds like the opposite of a lolcow and just wants to keep quiet and do what's best for his son. Although it would be hilarious if part of the reason Jack "has no money" was because she was now paying child support.

On the more up-to-date side apparently the next big drama post-Patreon is how much money she was raking in from PayPal - because she'd post begging tweets and people would send her money (separate to Patreon). According to Tattle people are starting to compare notes in the comments of his Patreon post.

Is the reason she's ended up not having the main share of the custody known?

It's quite unusual for mother's not to be awarded it without something serious going on.

Except in cases where the child is old enough to choose (I guess 'smol boy' surely is near adulthood now) and even then it's not as common for them to choose dads over mums.

It’s not known, but knowing her (exaggerated by her, I’m sure) history of alcohol abuse, the suspected cocaine abuse, being an unstable narcissist - plus a slew of other mental health issues - it seems to have been decided that the kid was much better off living primarily with his father. Whether this was settled upon within the family, or demanded by outside agencies, no one knows.

Frankly, I assumed she didn't want custody. I don't think she's the sort to want to assume responsibility over anyone other than herself. I wouldn't go as far as saying she doesn't love her son or anything so ghoulish, but Small Boy is a grift avenue for her first and foremost. Having to dip into sideboard funds to provide for a child doesn't seem appealing for the likes of her.

Agree. She clearly doesn’t have a maternal bone in her body and never speaks about him with love or care (not in an authentic way anyway). He’s just a vehicle for some of her shit recipes, a key component of her fake poverty story, and a major source of narc fuel.

Good afternoon, and an early Merry Griftmas to you all.

I'm publishing this early to get ahead of a systemic attempt to shut this controversy down.

I can now reveal some of the extent of the grift as money sloshed through Jack Monroe's PayPal account when she fraudulently claimed to be suing @MartinDaubney and @LeeAndersonMP, as well as a bit earlier in 2022 when she repeatedly claimed her website was broken and she desperately needed the advertising income to continue her job as a "recipe writer", making no mention of the £10k she had just received from Patreon subscribers.

My research covers the time period of the fake libel case, as well as various other begs such as the broken website, etc. and all the times she claimed to be living in poverty (e.g. July 2022), etc. however it was not possible to negotiate access to data earlier than that so we'll never publicly know how much she scammed from 2012-2021, sorry.

It also does not cover beyond May 2023 as the primary focus of my investigation has been on the fake libel fundraiser which didn't go beyond that time, as the most egregious fraud perpetuated on the public.

January/February 2022: the "broken website" beg netted her more than £7,000 - seemingly a mixture of existing followers and new followers acquired from Nigella's promotion of Jack's Patreon and subsequent uplift in Patreon takings.

The fake libel trial: Over £25,000 in the first few days of the initial tweet about the alleged libel. Then, depending on how you calculate it (because no, these funds were NOT ringfenced at all), over £150,000 minimum across the year of claiming that she was definitely, 100% going ahead with it, boosted at various times when she put the beg out again and again and referenced it in media interviews, etc.

Hunger Hurts 2 - July 2022: A "smaller beg" of over £3,000 for contrived nonsense about boiling down soap to make shower gel. These figures and some of the data have been passed to HMRC and Action Fraud, urging them to do a deeper investigation.

Given the sensitive nature of the information, as well as the threats (of violence, of doxxing, of generally unpleasant things promised), police interest (I have not been arrested or charged), and backlash I received for leaking the Patreon data I was given, I am not going to publish the raw information at all; partly because I'm not a complete cunt, partly because there's so many transactions that redacting them would take ages, and partly because doing so would likely undermine any future criminal investigation which has been my goal all along.

The level of deceit displayed by her is jaw-dropping. Inventing the fictional persona of "Jack Monroe", the people's poverty princess, and then revising history and testing out different versions of events to concoct the most emotionally charged and financially lucrative story to steal money from well-meaning, naive people: most of whom appear to have been less well-off than her, backing up the assertion that she claimed was defamatory about her making money off of poor people.

The people who platformed her have a lot to answer for, too. She didn't become famous on her own. She has been platformed, celebrated, and supported by celebrities and the media for over a decade: all of it based on a mistelling of the truth that has grown out of all proportion to become monstrous, menacing, and misleading.

She has taken you all for a ride and laughed at your expense every step of the way. The watch, the earrings, the Cotswold sideboards, etc. all came from money you've given her. And it hasn't helped the less fortunate: her "campaigning" has been insipid and weak, vague and general rather than specific, and a waste of time when a more qualified, knowledgeable person with the work ethic Jack lacks could have been platformed instead.

I can only hope this conclusively puts an end to her scamming and she faces justice for all the bad things she's done. It is my fervent wish that she becomes a winning answer on the show Pointless (as nobody will know who she is) and that she is treated with contempt and mockery everywhere she goes, second only to the wish that she faces proper investigation and criminal sanctions for the fraud she's committed. And, at this point, given all I have seen, I am firmly of the opinion that it is fraud. Not a mistake, not an "oopsie, my bad" but clear, calculated fraud designed to take money from well-meaning people and spend it on herself. My work here is done. This account will now be archived so the evidence remains public. Thanks for all your support.

I couldn't have done it without you all. I am off to enjoy my Christmas vacation now and I hope you are too (if you celebrate it). Please enjoy the video at the bottom and turn the sound up to hear the song. Adieu, LG

Farewell, Gengar. A shame you can't release the data you've got, but it makes sense - I really do hope the police and HMRC take this forward. It's genuinely shocking she pulled in £150k and then claimed to be boiling down soap because she was so poor, it really puts things in stark relief; this isn't just a grifter but a sociopath happy to steal from the poor and needy.

Fantastic timing though, she was just starting to poke her head above the parapet again by going on the radio yesterday!

The highest individual amount given was £1,000. Most of the amounts were £5, £10, £20, with the occasional £50 scattered in along with at least one donation of £200.

Looks like Twitter have started doing (always did? not sure) what YT does, which is separate videos out into multiple files that the browser puts together - seeing as it's pretty simple, and mainly because I don't have time, haven't taken a local archive of that.

@AssignedEva - what radio station was she on? What did she talk about? That would explain why you decided to bring things forward, Gengar! That must have been infuriating to hear.
150k over the Sue Lee period. I knew her PayPal takings would be huge, but I never would have ballparked an annual figure like that. The talk about buying a house (on Twitter and in the foreword for Grifty Kitchen) indicated clearly that she was very well-off, but that is really extremely well-off. And all for doing absolutely nothing - the recipes don't work, she doesn't appear to actually achieve anything concrete (as you point out in your tweet, Gengar) ... Bloody hell. Thanks for all your work, Gengar. Don't be a stranger!
Edit: very well-written tweet, especially paragraphs 10-11 ("The level of deceit [...] menacing and misleading"), congrats

@Palla Strozzi I always knew my drafting and advocacy skills would come in handy one day.

It was infuriating and made me bring it forward. I do not seek to convince anyone here, you can make your own minds up on the evidence but I hope she's permanently cancelled now.

I am returned to the earth now. Good luck suing a dead man for libel and "harassment", Jack 🤣

Well, "Radio", it was Times Radio on the breakfast show - listen here at the 2:06 mark (I'll try and figure an archive). I normally only listen in to Giles Coren's weekly podcast but I did randomly catch the breakfast show on Monday - didn't even bother posting it because it was so inconsequential, but in retrospect it was her trying to get herself back out there.

Basically 3x as many people are ending up in hospital for obesity compared to people ending up in hospital for smoking, and the risk is twice as high for people in the poorest areas to be hospitalised due to obesity. Jack basically agreed that poverty and obesity were linked (but sounded really out of it - not drunk, but maybe on some benzos?). The presenter raised that poverty and obesity didn't always used to correlated and was it maybe we ate different things, and Jack again basically agreed it wasn't like this in the developing world and it was about the type of food that was available, but she mainly said that the cure to obesity was to tackle poverty. The presenter asked if people make the right choices if they have the right money - Jack agrees it's not just poor people who eat ready meals, pointing to the 2 for £12 ready meals, and yet it's only the poor who get castigated. She then says that poor people have fewer choices due to money. The presenter asks about what's available in supermarkets and what's covered by BOGOF and pricing of junk foods - Jack agrees and mentions there's two Tesco Express stores within a 25 minute walk from her house in Southend. The one on the council estate stocks entirely different food to the one in the nice leafy conservation area; the council estate just has the value range, ready meals, beers and nappies while the nice one has kale and organic chicken, and the different shops stock different things based entirely.

If that sounds unusually fluent for Jack, it's important to bear in mind that the interviewer bent over backwards and lead her into each point, basically prompting her to say that obesity is associated with poverty, that wealthy people don't necessarily make healthier choices but they do have more choices, that there's other actors involved who have to be considered etc. etc. Jack didn't really add anything at all other than ticking the box of having had a guest say the points they wanted to discuss, and then The Times had the epidemiologist (who specialises in nutrition) Tim Spector on, who then made a variety of interesting points, and they engaged with why poorer people often engaged in eating in ultra-processed foods (and that what ultra-processed foods are can be misleading e.g. not just cakes but most supermarket breads or children's yoghurts that have "health halos" from being low fat or high fibre or fortified with vitamins etc).

I lived in Southend for a few years and Tesco is *far* from the only game in town. You have one of all the big brand supermarkets from Lidl all the way up to Asda.

Even if you ignore the deliberately narrow scope. Tesco Express stores tend to sell what's actually selling in those locals and the area has a healthy amount of Co-Ops as well which tend to have pretty decent stock packed in a smaller space. The entire local areas always had a decent bus service if you fancy going to Southend High Street, Rayleigh or Rochford instead and doesn't cost that much for a weekly ticket.

The long-awaited sign of life has been registered, but is more of a choke and a whimper, and rather underwhelming:

"Early days yet, but finally (slowly) learning Greek. And no better way to drum it in than to painstakingly diarise our daily dinners. Probably full of mistakes, just like me, but it feels wholesome and lovely. Still sober, still alive, still cooking. Just, quietly. [emoji face with hearts]"
Jack_tweet02.jpg [yes I stole this one from Tattle. Don't judge. Man are they insufferable though]
"I took a couple of days off Twitter in the summer and kind of liked the headspace [wink emoji] accidentally took six months away from the noise. Any minute now they'll notice and chase me away again, but thought I'd share something wholesome and lovely [emoji face w/ hearts]"
I think it's pretty clear that this repetition of the notions "wholesome and lovely" is because of our-boy Gengar's revelations. She's trying to present herself as innocent and harmless.

Hope her next fundraiser is for a one-way ticket to Greece. (Sorry to any Greeks.)

CSA and multiple r*pe survivor,
I had a quick look earlier but couldn’t find anything more on her claims of being a child sexual abuse survivor. Has she hinted at anyone? Most CSA is by the father or other male relative, and with Big Dave being a foster carer… Not that I believe Jack but it’s a dicey claim to make!

She claimed that she was molested by a foster sibling, and nobody believed her. She didn't mention it much or make a big fanfare out of it, so I'm incline to believe this one.

It seems incredibly dangerous and naive to be housing unrelated adolescent boys in with primary school aged children, which the Hadjicostas' did. They're every bit as dangerous as adult men, and actually worse due to the lack of inhibition, common sense or impulse control. Just because they're extremely vulnerable doesn't mean they should be treated as harmless.

Take solace - she can never unlock. The tide of criticism would be too severe.
A tide of questions she can't answer nor deflect from satisfactorily.

I completely agree with this. Apologies in advance for the armchair psychologising, but I'm convinced that her parents' fostering (almost excessive fostering, with that number of foster kids, most of whom typically have pretty significant problems, there is just no way that sufficient attention and care can be given to not only all the fosters, but also to the parents' natural children) has contributed in a big way to the attention-seeking aspects of her obvious personality disorder. I think the father enjoyed the accolades and status that came from that role, and this quite possibly caused him to put it above the needs/wellbeing of his own family.
