Won't get too off topic with abortion but I saw DS was being discussed in here. I was driving into TN and saw this on the back of a truck. Fundies aren't anti-abortion in spite of it leading to this, they consider a world with more tards to be a major selling point.

Yeah, you see a lot of propaganda. The DS society doesn't tell you 80 percent of them get dementia. It's something that parents should know.

and yeah. not only dementia, but like at least a dozen other issues minimum right? the ones who can bag groceries are in the top 10%. they aren't just lovable dimwits. many are aggressive. they lived like 40 years on average until very recently.

Keep in mind, in terms of the Stanford Binet standard IQ test, 85 doesn't mean you're a non-functional idiot. Most African Americans score around 85, with most Caucasians scoring around 100, and Asians scoring around 110.

I got 2 out of those 3 diagnosis lol. The BPD sucks as does the way I get treated because of the 'tism, but it is what it is.

No idea if that person is being honest though (I kinda doubt it). I will say that I think trauma-related mental illnesses like BPD are more common amongst autists because of the increased risk of childhood abuse for disabled children.

Major powerlevel, and I can't speak for all autists, but I started self injuring because of abuse/toxic family situation. The two aren't always unrelated.

And yet they're also usually the same people in favor of cutting services for disabled people as much as humanly possible.

They don't give a shit about downs kids once they're born any more than they do any other kids. They just want to use them as props.

I know from experience it's bad enough trying to get what you need down south in Gawga', can't imagine how bad it is in TN given the closest thing we have to a redeeming quality is not being nearly as bad as the states we border.

And let me tell you, it isn’t the just potato babies that are a burden. Alzheimer’s is effing expensive. Do you know Aduhelm is the reason Medicare premiums went up a lot? That mediation is like what 20k a year for virtually no payoff? Then there’s the 24/7 care and all that stuff.

I know this is the tard thread so the focus is on that, but my point is adults can be just as expensive to take care of medically. Tard babies like Paisley, Luna etc aren’t going to live a normal lifespan anyways so they won't be on the dole forever so at least there’s that.

Well, 41% (lol) of patients enrolled in the clinical trials experienced significant brain swelling or bleeding as an effect of treatment, so that's a bit of a matter of debate. Considering it's only approved for patients with "mild cognitive impairment", these are majorly deleterious effects.

I can't believe, except I completely CAN believe, that here in the year of our Lord 2023, Abeta is still considered a worthwhile drug target. Neuroscientists, man.

Not just the brain swelling but, in 2 clinical trials, after 18 months it reduced amyloid plaque levels, but that did not translate to any clinical effect in 1 trial or a noticeable effect in the other. Potentially serious harms are common. The FDA has required that another trial be completed by 2030 to decide whether aducanumab has a meaningful patient benefit.

Unfortunately "showing the negative side of autism" way too often means parents publicly posting shit like videos of the kids having meltdowns or about their toileting habits or other shit that should be private and never shared publically. And otherwise treating their kids as objects that exist to get them pity and attention and openly resenting them. FatheringAutism and similar horrorshows are an example of the kind of shit I'm talking about.

For me, the most negative side of autism is being treated as if I'm less a person and more a problem that makes life sooooo difficult for the real people that have to deal with my existence. And knowing that I'm still luckier than kids/adults whose disabilities are too severe for them to get away from their shitty families :(
