Victor Mignogna v. Funimation Productions, LLC, et al. (2019) - Vic's lawsuit against Funimation, VAs, and others, for over a million dollars.

I'd like to just say I've maintained for a long time, pre Vic losing his case, that his donations would have been better collected and spent on funding a competing dubbing studio, history has born my position out to be correct. Vic's reputation is not repaired, almost nobody who wasn't on his side came to his side, he has blown $250k on lining TY's pockets, anime matsuri had to foot the bill to make my original suggestion a reality. The punishment funimation got by being consolidated into crunchy roll ended up just being a corporate downsizing maneuver after Sony bought a monopoly in the western anime distribution.

The best fuck you would have been to open up a competing dubbing studio. It just got delayed by 2-3 years while we entertained this wishful thinking.

As someone who knows someone who owns a dubbing studio that has done anime, it’s not that simple. Unless you have a massive amount of money and Hollywood clout, you’re not going to be getting the anime that people actually want to watch a dub of. Remember, dubbing is about people who don’t want to watch subs. The toonami audience, the kids audience, funimation gets high profile dubs and spends close to nothing on them because they know the majority of sales goes to people watching subs.

Usually the dubbing studio does not have the rights to the show itself. For isntance, Bang Zoom Entertainment does the casting and recording for a lot of funimation projects. Funimation pays for the production and distributes. A Vic owned studio would have to work with crunchy roll or Netflix to get anywhere in the industry, and that’s not gonna happen.

Alternatives exist, but what you’re effectively asking for is for a new soda company to attempt to make a cola that challenges coke and Pepsi

Crunchyroll is a Funimation subsidiary, but both companies have been property of Sony since 2021 and 2017 respectively. I really doubt CR is interested in maintaining relations with a dude that sued their shiny new toy and now owes them tens of thousands in settlement fees.

He can take the ghost stories route and run a studio solely around abridge dubbing niche anime that the Gaijin haven't heard of, or re-doing shit dubs from the 1980's and 90's. However this option would rely on meme-potential and vague nostalgia.

Ghost Stories was done by the legendary ADV, who was bought by funimation. But by the time ghost stories came out, ADV was already well known for doing things like the Sonic OVA, Evangelion, and Nadia among others. They also published a lot of manga in their day. Vic would not be able to get the money to be an ADV sized company in today’s market. ADV was in when anime was just coming into popularly in the west.

"Screwed up the notary" is kind of a big own goal. It's not a small thing, it's a piece of procedure that is easy to do and has to be done right.

And by the way, the manager of a staples could have notarized the documents for Vic, it didn't need to be his fancy lawyer doing it from a different state.

Ty took a stupid shortcut and got caught.
That's what happens when you hire Jewish-Italian meme lawyers who are known for their entertainment rather than for their legal acumen.

The lesson I've learned from all this is , if you're going to pursue a serious case at all, stay far, far away from internet retards. Don't let internet retards recommend lawyers to you. Don't let internet retards give you legal advice. Don't let internet retards even read your notes. Just go, and grab an actual lawyer who isn't some degenerate IBS enthusiast.

You shouldn’t go to the internet for anything, medical advice, financial advice, legal advice, politics, avoid the internet at all costs for this things. figure it out yourself or find a working professional who’s credentials you trust. Emphasis on the working part. If you’re not actively working in the field, you are no longer as valuable as someone who is

Why do things get worse as soon as I stop paying attention to them holy shit. First Vic's case then Rekieta.

Well, look on the good side, this was like goobergate, it may have failed, but it was successful in how many fat people on Twitter it made angry for three years. I'd say fund more lolsuits if it keeps these losers stuck to their keyboards like psychopaths. Good for Vic standing up for himself anyways. Even if the people he trusted with it fumbled the ball, it was better than laying down for those assholes slandering him.

You go away for a few days, and everyone spergs out about pretty much nothing.

On another note, at this point I can only assume that no one understands law, especially not lawyers, because all they do its get it wrong and fuck up everything.

I don't think anyone understands law because Ty fucked up, Chupp fucked up, Lemoine fucked up, Nick fucked up, and the only mildly competent lawyer was the strip mall guy who was reasonable about his fees, mainly because he did what was asked of him and didn't do any more or less. He also stayed out of the infighting. Ty and Lemoine liked the attention too much.

Meanwhile the Sony/Funi lawyer basically slurped the leftovers off the table and didn't really do much of note.

That being said, I hope Chupp humbles Lemoine by pointing that out again at the fees hearing. If we can get Chupp to be Chupp on that one last point I'd be satisfied.

If you are reading this Vic or anyone really, if you are masculine, heterosexual, conservative or religious. You should consider moving to Uganda. You are welcome here. In the west they hate you, want you humiliated and castrated. Then you want to fight and die for the western society that is against you. The West is not worth fighting for.
Shut up groid.
Haven't payed attention tot his since it first came out. Not a surprise. KF has a bad record when it comes to cheerleading lawyers/judges/cases.
That's because we are usually on the side of the detested underdog.

Everybody throws with their fingers crossed.
Everybody knows the war is over.
Everybody knows the good guys lost."

Don’t know why everyone is blaming Ty, he did his best but Vic is receiving a divine punishment for the sins of being a homosexual and liking anime.
He should have played around the district court, appellate court, and Supreme Court of the state rewriting the entirety of contract law to fuck his client over, of course

I'm not sure how completely failing to get any of your evidence into the record because you filed bogus notarizations claiming you were in the same room as the witnesses when they were a hundred miles away is the "best" of anything. That's abject incompetence. Spending $20 at Staples to get an actual notarization would have worked.

That is nobody's "best."
