Victor Mignogna v. Funimation Productions, LLC, et al. (2019) - Vic's lawsuit against Funimation, VAs, and others, for over a million dollars.

One more thing-Nick's claim about TFS paying Funimation to keep Toei off their backs? May have some truth to it

If you download and reupload a TFS video, you will get a ContentID claim against the video for the sound recording on befalf of TFS. They monetize and run ads on the video. The reason toie is on TFS's back is because TFS is trying to monetize content that they don't own.

This is precisely how I feel about all of this. Nick, Ty, etc are all fuck ups and Vic's mistake was trusting grifters to get him out of a legal pinch. Now, I don't hate Nick but but I feel he has a personal responsibility here and dropped the ball hard. I hope Vic just decides to move on and stops dealing with weirdos on the internet.
What did Nick do wrong (aside from the silliness with the amicus brief)? He acted as Vic's PR man for free and raised him 291K. What Nick did was a great example of how to run a PR campaign, and if it hurt Vic, then it's entirely his fault for not disavowing. Nick had no way of knowing that Ty would fuck up the case so badly when he recommended him to Vic, even though Vic probably should've started looking for another law firm given Ty's on-stream behavior (funny as it was).

Nick did far more for Vic than Ty did. Nick was basically the PR firm all the anti-Vic faggots said Vic should have hired instead of suing, and he did it for free. He built up hype for some of Vic's larger events, like Matsuri, and also led the narrative about the allegations being bullshit no matter what the ruling turned out to be.

Whereas all Ty did was fuck up the case.

If Toye and the gang were in Vic's position would you still be making the same argument?
Honestly, if Ron Toye and the rest of the dipshits get accused of a sex crime (like being charged for possession of child porn) I would still support them having the benefit of the doubt where they're innocent until proven guilty. Now as much as I want to see the Funimaiton people get owned and be held accountable, I still want them to have a fair shot to prove their innocence regardless because I still have my principles. So as much as I want to see the Funimation dipshits go down, they still deserve a fair shot to prove they are innocent if that day ever comes anyway.
Agree'd even though Vic wasn't convicted of sexual misconduct, just like Michael Jackson, it was obvious to everyone that he did it.
Yes, Vic Mignogna is such a horrible person who is literally Hitler. He made a stupid jelly bean joke and that is the worst thing to ever happen in the history of the world since the invention of the slave trade and the dinosaurs going extinct by that big asteroid.

If you're going to have this conversation, at least try to stick to the facts and act in good faith rather than putting shit out of your ass and make yourself look dumber than you already are. If you want to talk in good faith then fine but if you're going to start acting like ween then we'll just mock you for being an idiot, you'll probably get a pink triangle, and watch you chimp out in the process.
You use that word. I don't think you know what it means. Off the top of my head for anime streaming and dubbing in the US:
Netflix
Amazon
Tubi tv
Bang Zoom!
Viz Media
Hulu
HiDive

Don't get me wrong, Kais is a drooling retard, but ya don't need to join him by making equally stupid statements.

In the age of cancel culture and social media bandwagoning I argue that Anti-SLAPP needs to be abolished. How the fuck is one supposed to redress grievances when they can't even enter discovery? Lets pretend the lawsuit was frivolous - You're just extending the time the lawsuit takes by a matter of years consuming time and money. Lets say the Motion to reconsider goes through. Then what happens? We've spent 3 years on a case and we haven't even gotten to discovery so what? 3 more years? What Ron Toye said at least is definitely defamation. He said he knew personally (from a position of seeming authority) women who were sexually assaulted by vic. That's not an opinion of a public figure. Anti-SLAPP stopped discovery. Discovery means no looking into the corruption of anime industry blacklisting.

And of course, as was said before, retards are going to take this CIVIL defamation case not making it past Anti-SLAPP as a sign that a CRIMINAL case was lost. They're going to do it again to more innocent people who earn the ire of the Staceys in the industry. What a load of Chupp.
Well I stand corrected but my point still stands, Weeb Wars has now gone well beyond Vic at this point. This isn't just about Vic anymore since the anime community has now entered the culture wars just like with video games back when the whole #GamerGate drama happened a long time ago.

Even though #GamerGate ended years ago, video games are still part of the culture wars since many of those on the Left, Right, and Center have made video games to be part of the culture wars at this point and Japanese entertainment is now part of that whether we want to accept that fact or not then.
Defamation of Character is not protected speech under federal law for a reason and there's a reason why the feds won't do it. This only shows me that Leftoids don't care about the whole concept of presumption of innocence to begin with anyway.

This one is particularly pathetic. Not only does the Weeb's brain undergo intense psychosis in order to cope with reality when faced with Vic failing, some of the sadder ones also need to alter reality further to try and cope when faced with the fact that not only is Vic a Creeper but Ty Beard is a shitty lawyer who probably didn't actually give enough of a shit to do his job since he was basically handed a free check from Nick with you guys' money.

[SNIP]
So your comeback is 'trust me bro'...? Pathetic...

lolno.
1. The KickVic fags will be emboldened more than ever to harass conventions and other venues that invite Vic as a guest.
2. As seen with Krissy Rose and her campaign against Quinton Flynn, there will be those who will be inspired by KickVic and will try to take down more "problematic" figures in the North American anime sphere.
3. As seen with Daman Mills, the cliques will defend one of their own (especially if they are in the alphabet mafia). As Sony continues absorb more entities into Crunchyroll, expect the wagon circling to be more intense.
4. Speaking of the monopoly Sony is creating with Crunchyroll, the other anime dubbing companies are playing ball with them as they gobble up retailers (like Right Stuf) and other streaming platforms. Not sure how the Anime Matsuri Studios venture will ultimately pan out, but there needs to be healthy competition in the market. If Crunchyroll becomes the ONLY choice available, expect stagnation and woke trends to continue. It is this arena where I believe the next stage of Weeb Wars to continue.
I hope the next stage has just as interesting a cast. The 2019-2020 daily madness was spergery and autismo par excellance. Otherwise I hope it gets taken behind a shed and shot. 2020-2022 was slowly metastasising ass cancer with few high points

I don't know what Nick did directlyto harm the case. He was never involved in the direct representation--though I would bet a farm that he was a part of the strategising. We cannot quantify how much effect he had on the outcome and decisions of Ty's team because we will never know what went on in the planning session. Nick likes to have plausible deniability that he had 'nothing to do with the legal case', but you are a simp for the schnozz if you believe that.

At least on paper (UNBREADED!), Nicky is clean--just as he wanted to be. That claim of 'negligent referral' is a crock of KV shit that they hold on to like they do with Trump's Russia Russia Collusion...

oh I know, just pointing out something that happened. See-back in 2019 during one of Nick's streams (around the time of the Funimation audio leaks I believe) Nick mentioned TFS paying Funimation to keep Toei off their backs. A few weeks after this was revealed (just enough time to make a teaser), they announced the shift to the shortZ format (a lot of people at the time suspected it was because of these claims) then months later after it had died down, they quietly cancelled DBZA entirely. OFFICIALLY, the reason was burnout and copyright issues with Toei, but I wouldn't be surprised if these claims were true (because of things like Chris Sabat being a narrator in one of their films, them being VAs in Xenoverse 2 etc).

It's extremely silly (and quite possibly stupid) that people keep treating Nick like he was Vic's lawyer. As you said, he did free PR, and made a GFM for the fans because the fans asked for it. Only the tards on kv and lawltwatter keep insisting he's Vic's lawyer. Nick recommended Ty and ultimately it was Vic who decided on using Ty. The only question I have and I said it somewhere else, why Ty? He's talked to other lawyers, and I don't believe the autism of lawltwitter that claims all the lawyers he spoke to said it was frivolous.

He spoke to two firms, one said he could not afford it. I do not rember what the second reason was, but it did not have to do with case merit either,

Because the first two law firms were busy and unable to deal with a case that public and complex (since a lot of different parties had to be sued) and Vic didn't want to wait the several months to get any results, although IIRC they did send Armzgurl a letter warning her to preserve evidence. My guess is that as this was happening, you have Nick, who's been advocating for Vic publically and has a fundraiser out, recommending Vic a lawyer in Texas he knows has done some big money work. Vic is desperate at this point for something better than the firm he has so talks with Ty and really likes what he sees and hears, especially since Ty is the sort of guy who despises the bullshit Vic was subjected to. So Vic hires Ty and Ty does his work.

And honestly, it was pretty good work in terms of PR ("we will be in touch"), and not everything Ty wrote was shit. I think we can excuse the "my client is not feces" as some weird artifact of Texas law that Ty wanted to cover all grounds. It just turned out that Ty's filings and everything after were generally poor at best while his handling of entering evidence into the record utterly abysmal. Probably should've tried to get Vic to make more "yes/no" statements in his deposition and not the vagueness he often used, and same with the Stan Dahlin affidavit.

@DRHaste23 tried to run the lie that the other law firms that Vic approached said his lawsuit was bad and refused to take. He offered no evidence of that.

The only evidence we have is from Lisa Hansell:
I keep seeing the wild KV logic leap from my statement of "we spoke to two different firms before hiring Ty" to "two different attorneys told Vic the case was shit."

No.

Attorney #1 (consulted - never actually hired): "You've definitely got a strong case, but you can't afford it."

Attorney #2 (the one who sent a C&D to Saucedo): "I understand your world is burning at Twitter speed. I'll get that motion filed sometime in the next 2 months-ish."

Exactly zero lawyers told us that the case had no merit. Quite the opposite.
First firm said it would be too expensive. Second firm wouldn't move fast enough.

The way I see it, at least three law firms (Ty's, plus the other two) thought Vic had a meritorious lawsuit. Ty just couldn't close the deal.

Reminder that Vic attended Ty's daughter's wedding. Vic clearly likes Ty. Who knows what his opinion is now, though.

As for the deposition, sure, it would have been far better for Vic to have just given a blunt "no, the event she described never happened," but he didn't. This was why the affidavit where he unambiguously denied ever pulling her hair was important. They cleared up any ambiguity in the deposition, and since TCPA dictates evidence is evaluated in the light most favorable to the plaintiff, it should have been enough.

But Ty couldn't be arsed to get them into evidence properly.

I only ever supported Vic because he seems like a decent guy who just happened to voice a certain alchemist which is just an added bonus, and that he faced a clear case of #MeToo where some whores try to prop themselves up by destroying a male colleague's life with their lies.
Then I found out he was disliked by his peers and certain part of fandom for being too Christian, basically.
I just don't see him suing Ty, people who do probably haven't been paying attention. He's just not that type of person. Vic likely made peace with it years ago when they lost the case, appeal was always a longshot.

Looking a Marz's and Jamie's twitter likes and you can really see how much her they put their (especially marzgurl) mouth on display. Marz Liking every tweet that talk's about vic in a bad way. Jamie supporting her and calling someone off when they point out she's been aggressive on twitter. I think that's why I don't see as many actors liking her this time around.

I'm not autistic enough to track who likes who on Twitter, so I'll trust you. These people are generally not likeable and the whole thing is a fairly secluded circlejerk, which isn't exactly news.
Like I said before, they'll gloat for a while and then return to their empty, miserable lives. People don't spend a lot of time on Twitter if they lead fulfilling lives.

I think Nick did something for Vic that nobody else could have done, and that is help that man find the confidence in himself and be able to see the support he has going forward. At a time where he was spiraling into a depression, Nick was fundamental in pulling him out of it. Maybe even saved his life, all things considered.

A court case without that support would've been a bigger disaster. I fully believe if Ron hadn't been put back in his lane, he would've tried his hardest to get Vic to actually off himself. He spent hours searching for mentions, searching for people to post his copypastas to and he did all of this on his own, no bots or anything. Dude has proven he's nuts enough to hurt people and has no remorse for doing so if he thinks they deserved it. Ron talked about wanting to punch Vic in the face before.

Ty fucking up is whatever at this point. Even if Vic had a perfect team I don't think anyone could have done what Nick has done for him. I think Nick might make shit choices at times and can really get into the persona a little too hard but I don't hate him for it. He knows what sells and that's peanuts compared to the lies Monica, Jamie, Ron, and their buddies have forced into fact.

Eventually they'll fuck up too, especially now since they think they're winning. That worked out fantastically for Amber Heard, didn't it?

That was speculation from Nick, and I can see it happening. He theorized that Vic can sue Ty for malpractice (without necessary malice on Vic's part), and Ty uses his malpractice insurance to pay Vic. Vic can then use that money for paying off the TCPA judgment. Vic doesn't get his reputation back, but at least he's not half a million in debt to the defendants' lawyers.

It's either that or Ty just leaves Vic out to dry, and while I'm extremely critical of Ty's fuck up, I still think he genuinely likes Vic and wants to makes thing as right as possible.

Oh it's a circlejerk.
