I think New Pill is an idiot for not just taking the $4500 a month (even if the ad revenue was higher than $4500 a month, it's a lot harder to monetize with inbound content id claims), but I'm with Null in that it's a major mistake to engage your megafans in legal battles. It's possible to see entities operating like this without taking much of a hit to their image, but I can only really think of Nintendo when it comes to a group of people being extremely IP-protective and still maintaining a beloved image, and that's only because they consistently put out good product reminding their fans why they're in charge. Sam Hyde is one guy with a couple of loser buddies hanging around. Most of his content isn't masterful, and the content people generally do find engaging requires sifting through hours of boring podcasts to find about 10 minutes worth of gold.

I think what really solidifies it as a bad decision, though, is that almost everyone who likes Sam Hyde (if not 100% of his dedicated fans) HATES the system, or at the very least thinks something is fucked up in the system. Sam Hyde is like a pure counter-culture elemental, almost everything he does is some kind of ironic jab at what's going on in the world today, and definitely the people subscribed to his Gumroad or who watch the clip channels engage with his content for that reason. When your Internet Daddy comes after you using the system he shits on every day, it feels pretty hypocritical, and it's really going to blow up in his face if Lil Shitpost gets taken down for being attached to Sam Hyde in an official capacity. I know the "lost" ad revenue sucks, but Youtube has Sam Hyde's number and they hate him, but the little guys can fly under Susan's radar, so you really just have to pretend that it's an autonomous ad agency you don't have to pay. It might have even been cool if he presented the option of going legit with the clip channels, but the fact he made it an ultimatum just hits way too close to all the fucked-up shit everyone else who is part of the system does every day.

Nothing Sam does is worth any amount of money. All he does is tell shitty jokes and give bad life advice to fatherless zoomers. There's no value in that whatsoever. Nothing he does is so skillful, that he honestly can say he deserves money and he hasn't even worked on the ventures that could be worth money. Anyone with fucking sense wouldn't pay for Sam's 2 hour unfunny diatribes when you can watch the 10 minute funny bits for free.

I'm not sure why anyone is surprised Sam Hyde doesn't like the idea of people making a lot of money off his content on YT when he's not even allowed to. He's not some larping punk rocker counter culter hero, he's a blackballed comedian who has resorted to celebrity boxing. Sorry your internet hero let you down, but this isn't that big of a deal or out of character.

It has been a painful process, but reading these past 30 pages has confirmed my worst suspicions:

Sam Hyde isn't funny anymore.

Can anyone recommend any edgy, funny comedy? Something that pushes the boundaries without becoming too autistic and/or retarded.

I've been watching old Aqua Teen Hunger Force episodes, but that's more surrealist than edgy. I've also been re-watching It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia from the beginning. Not sure if they cucked down the line, but what I've seen has aged really well.

I'd say he still is funny but he has transitioned into a character we laugh at instead of one we laugh with.
He's becoming the out of touch boomer he always hated and mocked and I really doubt that he's doing it "ironically". He has followed in idubbbz footsteps of hypocrisy, just completely tone def to what their fans want or think, disregarding their entire past persona that made them famous.

This is super fucked up and would piss anyone off but it's not going to work out how he wants it to. He should have let them continue to do free advertising and just been happy for the new eyes on his stuff. Youtube or any other mainstream platform has no intentions to ever let mass shooter/Nazi/pedophile, Sam Hyde succeed. If those channels were able to monetize Sam fucking Hyde then in my opinion they earned it.

Without putting out any of his own money, he had several different channels clipping his (forbidden, barley monetizable) content and growing exposure. Again, without having to put out any of his own money, some of these channels were able to earn money with their edits, incentivizing them to continue creating funny videos that people liked.

The way I see it, Youtube was basically paying these dudes to promote Sam Hyde without realizing it and he should have rode that wave for as long as possible. Whenever the next round of "adpocalypse" comes through, all Sam Hyde related content may become 100% forbidden. I'm surprised it's not already, it could happen any day.

Sam's opponent on a podcast with some vapid LA social climber chicks he's friendly with. Not a great interview, skipped thru looking for him talking about boxing, only takeaway is that I was expecting the dude to be a douchebag but he seems like a dumb, amiable Aussie Chad. He says he's training 4 hours a day, never tried it before 2 months ago. Afaik they never mentioned Sam.

I get toobers wanting to make a money, but why do they almost instantly become scumbags once a single peso drops in their general direction? It’s almost a consistent happening. Just throwing out their eternal soul for a pittance that isn’t even stable. Sounds stressful tbh.

Regardless, Sam Hyde peaked in 2015 and has been getting lower and lower T as time goes on. Funny how a man that would shit on Joe Rogan would eventually end up copying his format of podcast.
