Oh my fucking god. "This is what happens to people who jump into really intense fitness programs for athletes." Anna tried to walk up a SMALL HILL with a SMALL INCLINE for ONE MILE and couldn't do it. This is not anything "for athletes." Is her "videographer and creative director" an athlete? No, he's just a normal dude. Is also-obese-but-still-human-ish-looking Emely an athlete, for whom the "hikes" (normal fucking walks to see a nice view, maybe bring along a cocktail or beer or coffee or whatever) were "moderately"difficult? NO. Anna is HUGE. She can't do ANYTHING IN HER BODY. I just fucking can't with this.
This reaction was definitely irritating; in that while it's great that she takes on some of the more egregious bullshit FAs engage in, she's still entertaining some of its' more innocuous forms. It's great that she challenges the "can't outrun your fork" idea that so many of them have, for instance, but there's also an immense irony to hearing her talk about this video of Anna's as though it were some kind of "come to Jesus" reality check when it was just more of her usual denial. I did get a good chuckle out of remembering how Anna initially described herself admitting that
maybe she wasn't in
perfect shape...

like wow, Anna, so good of you to recognize that perhaps you're not fully ready for the Olympics just yet. Just a little bit more work! Maybe a few more weeks of closing those Apple watch rings with your self-selected daily 500-step goal, and you'll be ready for the qualifiers.
The "reality check" that most fatties need to turn things around, that this one slightly less delusional fatty is still kinda dancing around, is just how utterly they have fucked their physical capacities by becoming, and being, so fat in the first place. I can appreciate the desire to keep your morale up when you have about 2-3 full peoples' worth of weight to lose before even approximating "perfect shape", but they need to fully appreciate where they are currently if they're really going to change it. The hikes Anna was describing were not difficult. They weren't even of
moderate difficulty. The lighthouse one I had actually commented on at the time:
It's just a little perspective on how utterly she has crippled herself, but I looked up the stats on the first trail she's talking about - Makapu'u lighthouse. 2.5 miles and just over 500ft incline throughout. I went for a casual ramble in a local park recently with some friends, one of whom has a bad knee and another of whom is pregnant, and the trail was both longer and had more incline. This literally wasn't even something any of us would have considered a "serious exercise" walk or called a "hike", but more of a "it's a lovely day, why don't we go for a walk in the park?" level of exertion. None of us are serious athletes, either. This bitch seriously has less endurance than some people I know in their fucking 80s, and it still doesn't dawn on her that this is entirely her own fault.
This was the kind of trail you could take a preschooler on without any problems. Pretending that something like this requires even a moderate level of fitness or athleticism is just feeding into the kind of bullshit equivocation and black-and-white thinking that FAs engage in constantly. We saw it most recently in one of Anna's videos where she mentions how she thinks
everyone has an unhealthy or dysfunctional relationship with food, implying that anyone who doesn't gorge themselves to 600lbs+ like her is some kind of orthorexic weighing their lettuce leaves and then doing 8-hour HIIT workouts to burn off the vinaigrette. Telling themselves that mild forms of exercise are "for athletes" is a way of avoiding admitting to themselves just
how badly they have fucked themselves over, and how much their fatness robs them of even an arthritic 80-year-old's level of stamina. It's not that the exertion is "too hard" - it's that they're
too fucking fat, to the point where they can't even complete the most basic of physical activity.
Someone needs to tell smaller fatty that despite the value of acknowledging the need to alter your diet before trying to use exercise as a weight-loss mechanism, encouraging people like Anna to believe that it's the strenuousness of the activity that's the problem is just enabling them.
