True, I thought that this is the fail rate out of the positive tests.
This can be partially mitigated by other indicators like heart rate but that most likely won't do.

So they needed to wait at least until the 15th week for the amniocentesis test, sucks you can only be certain once the procedure will certainly be invasive
It is less apparent than it looks at first and the terminology doesn’t help, but yeah, early screening is nowhere near as reliable as the numbers presented make them seem, and a decision at that stage, depending on your personal risk factors can potentially more likely than not result in ending a perfectly healthy and viable pregnancy, while waiting for confirmation requires months of waiting and potentially bonding, a more invasive test, and if it ends up with a decision to terminate, a more difficult procedure on every level

Shit sucks.

You ready to:
  • Take care of your child not being potty trained properly until their a teenager?
  • Always feel that your kid will never fit in with other kids other than the other special kids?
  • Your kid has to take special classes and can’t participate in most activities or sports?
  • Have your child be in a daytime facility when they leave high school? You better pray that they’re smart enough to hold a job when they grow up!
  • Constantly worry about your child’s safely well into their adult lives because they have the understanding of a 10 year old?
  • Sometimes they die in their 40s as well, depending on how severe their disability is.
  • And the list can go on….
What you are describing is essentially an extended childhood. "Wow, imagine how hard raising a heckin kiddo is... and then imagine doing it AT LEAST TWICE AS LONG!" Naked, incontinent, stupid, and helpless you came into this world, and the brightest conclusion you can look forward to is leaving it the same way. When that time draws near, perhaps your children will ask themselves: "what would LavenderMenace want?" And, if they really know you well, and they've really taken your teachings to heart, they will answer: "my personal comfort", then hire a specialist to carve you apart limb by limb, take whatever inheritance or life insurance money there is, and use it to further their personal comfort even more, then go post to likeminded people online about what good people they are for updoots and asspats and heckin validation that they made the best decision.

Yes, I am ready for all of that. I know this because my father was a good man, who raised me to be a good man. When he suddenly developed dementia in his 50s, I got to learn firsthand exactly how full of shit you are. "Not properly potty trained"? Try fully incontinent. "In a daytime facility"? You think I can afford that? Places won't even provide respite care if the person in question isn't old enough. "Smart enough to hold a job"? Smart enough to say your name is a precious gift, one I got to hold onto to the end. Smart enough to follow basic instructions is an unthinkable godsend to one with no executive function. The understanding of a 10 year old? A 10-year-old doesn't get the pull cord of window blinds wrapped around his neck. I found thumbtacks in my spaghetti with my tongue. "Has to take special classes"? Any growth at all is a blessing. Anything is better than watching your loved one die - not their body, but them - in slow motion.

Before that, I would've hemmed and hawed and "gee, I don't know, it's a hard situation, I guess you never really know what you'd do until it happens...". But I've lived through it, and I survived, and now I must admit I am filled with contempt on reading your whining about the horrors of having a particularly dumb 10-year-old. I have learned that of all the flaws a person can have, acknowledged stupidity that can be treated as such is rather low on the list. It is a nuisance to deal with, and it requires learning and adaptation on the part of those dealing with it, but it can be managed. Such is not the case, for example, for those prone to senseless and reckless violence, for whom the only humane recourse is the asylum.

The moral musings of many users I find contemptible. With one breath they decry the lack of shame in modern society, they denounce the MAID programs in Canada, and with the next they announce that actually killing inconvenient offspring is a good thing and it's important to talk about it so as to promote its spread.

Based on skimming search results, people with Down Syndrome account for roughly 0.05-0.1% of the US population. I haven't checked, but I would assume not many of them reproduce. In terms of eugenics, they are a non-factor. Compared to the resources sucked up by blacks and foreigners (and the problems caused), they are an economic non-factor. They do not scheme, plot, or conspire for the benefit of their ingroup or to spread degeneracy, nor do they burn down cities and loot stores, nor do they weasel their way into HR roles to engage in nepotistic hiring practices, nor do they blow themselves up in crowded places, or if they do any of this, they have not been effective enough for me to notice. They generally live just as happy and content a life as anyone else, which is quite easy to do because they are mentally children. And yet to read the postings of some of these oh-so-"Christian" kiwis who "of course oppose abortion usually", you would think that dissecting them in the womb was saving them from the gates of hell itself. There is exactly one reason to abort Down Syndrome children in particular, and that is that they are inconvenient. I can respect a humble spirit willing to admit his cowardice, and I can shake my head sadly at the jaded penny-pincher (shekelgrubber, you might call him) grumbling about a miniscule portion of his taxes, but I cannot abide the pretense that such an action is anything but selfish.

Would do the same. For every Shane Gillis there's like 9 hypersexual hyperaggressive bundles of rage.
Yeah I don't really understand how this is controversial. I think using it as a talking point in your money stream is pretty gross but the actual act of aborting a fetus that will likely have some incompatibility with life is fine and shouldn't be up to anyone's discretion but the parties involved. It's a hard decision for anyone to make and I give them my condolences (but seriously, stop posting this shit all over the internet).

Noah Caldwell Gervais the creator of extremely long rambly video game essays has trooned out.

I remember him going full SHUT IT DOWN in the comments section of his video on Beamdog's fanfic remaster of Baldur's Gate over people criticising them adding a troon NPC and immediately unsubbed. That was 10 years ago and I'm not surprised at all. I guess all those road trips and Life Experience chatting about COD with his blue collar colleagues at the pizza job he whined about didn't straighten him up.

He's made a lot of extremely awful takes over the years that have aged very badly. Here are a few I remember

1. In his "Asshole simulators" video he goes on an anecdotal tangent about an incident in his life where his car was stolen, and the perpetrators doused it in gasoline and set it on fire. And he then concludes "Postal 2 was made for those people" and implies that the game may have caused behavior like that. Never considering if there might be a more logical reasons for people to commit violent crimes like that such as race or IQ because he was also a leftist so he can't consider factors like that.

2. In his original Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines video there's a part where the character Jeanette implies she was raped to her sister Therese. It's not actually said in the game if this is true or not and it's implied to be a lie she is saying to get a rise out of her. He then goes on a tangent about how offensive it is to claim that mental illness is caused by rape. And then he stated outright that Troika games deserved to have their development time cut for the game (which forced them to rush it out the door as soon as possible). Which is a take nobody agrees with even on his own side and I think he's relaxed on as he took the video down later.

3. When No Man's Sky released it was criticized by the internet for being a half functional game with no actual purpose to anything in it. And a few internet leftists at that time attempted to defend the game by seeing its shortcomings as intentional somehow. Like Noah's video on No Man's Sky goes into how the game is actually a deep reflection on the nature of exploration and how actually boring it is. And he compares it to Louis and Clark's famous expedition across America. This was an incredibly poor take in hindsight as the game has gone on to be considerably updated in the years since and now it's full of content. So the idea that it was intentional artistic expression was completely off base.

lol calm down

Nobody asked.
When he suddenly developed dementia in his 50s,
Your Dad sucks at life for getting dementia at 50. Why are you sharing this?

Then go adopt a downie or get a woman pregnant and smash a hammer against her baby bump. I don’t care.

Why are there just SO MANY of these? Please don't tell me it's all fetish shit...

My mother told me that she knew a guy who had been adopted as an infant. He later found out that his mother had Down's syndrome and lived in a care home. His father was a retarded man who lived in the same care home. The son was a normal, intelligent guy. I can only imagine how strange it would be for him to meet his parents, if he ever did.
Male downies are almost always sterile.

Some other guy (likely a caretaker) banged the 'tard lady and downie boy there took the fall.

Male downies are almost always sterile.
I know that. But I never said the father had Down's syndrome. You don't have to have Down's syndrome in order to be retarded.

I asked my mother to confirm the story. I asked if the father was retarded too, and she said "Yes. Fortunately, you might say." But I misremembered one detail; this wasn't a guy that she knew, because he is in fact the same age as me. The downie mother was giving birth around the same time as my mother. The child was healthy though, and was adopted by another family. The grandparents were pretty upset about the whole thing, because while they would have preferred to keep and raise their own grandchild, their daughter would not be able to understand why the child should be with them and not her. And in this small town everyone would know who the real parents were, and it would no doubt make the kid's life hell. This is one if many reasons why retarded people shouldn't have children.

Before that Catholic church not only allowed but encouraged death penality for most minor offences (Mazzatello)
Mazzatello was reserved for most heinous crimes like attempted murder of the pope or patricide. No idea why you used it as an example.
slavery (Dum Diversas)
ftfy

Anyways, you are right that the church is mostly just chasing the public opinion of the era.

What about to have normal kids and resources for them so they can actually progress in life and not be perpetual burdens on society
You don't understand. It's a slippery slope. If this woman is allowed to abort a Down syndrome fetus, it could lead to women travelling back in time to abort me.

Down people deserve to live. All alive down people are glad they are alive.
And parents do make it work if they want to
It depresses me how little some people value human life that this statement is controversial. All abortion is an affront to God.

I see some people complaining that a down syndrome child would be a burden on the taxpayer, then your anger should go to the welfare state and not to them. They do not choose to profit off of the welfare state, they get funneled into it by the government and their appointed handlers. This happens to a lot of people who have mental disorders. A down syndrome person can still be a useful worker in a production environment with no tax dollars being sent to them.
Niggas will preach endlessly about how based it would be to bring back eugenics and cull the blacks and tards from society but suddenly when somebody actually does it, they’re a child killing sociopath. I’m convinced that none of you faggots actually believe in any of the TND TTD shit you post here and just say it because it’s edgy and funny.
Yeah you dumb nigger, most people don't sincerely want all black people to die. I would prefer them to be somewhere I can't see them, but I wouldn't needlessly kill people.
The autists who can function in society are the top percentage luckiest ones and even they probably shouldn't reproduce.
You are entering especially dangerous territory here. The bar for autism diagnosis is extraordinarily low these days and there likely are plenty of people in this very thread who would be able to pay a jewish doctor and get an autism diagnosis for completely arbitrary bullshit reasons. The diagnosis now is more often used to convince parents of children who otherwise would be normal functioning members of society to dope their kids up on pills that make everything worse for them and then get them dependent on programs which profit off of them.

I get that autism is a fundamental trait to most cows and that tends to be how the site views the disorder, but a kid from Chris Chan's generation who was diagnosed with autism was someone who genuinely had severe trouble functioning. A gen Z or gen alpha kid diagnosed with autism might literally just be a normal ass dude who might have some slight socialization troubles and there is just no proper separation given to them and people like Chris Chan (The terms "low/high functioning" don't do it justice either). It's why I get pretty uncomfortable when people make these massive overarching statements about autism just because of how broad the term has gotten over the years.
