Culture YouTube releases it's YouTube Rewind for 2018

Usually these things are masturbatory self-indulgences for the YT community featuring a lot of e-celebs. They start off with PewDiePie declaring "YEAR REWIND" and then showing some dumb shit for the fans.

This one
  • Starts with Will Smith (who isn't a YouTuber).
  • Has Ninja (who isn't a YouTuber).
  • A Fortnite gag.
  • No PDP because he said the word NIGGER.
  • A bunch of people no one cares about.
  • An entire two minute long scene celebrating diversity, women, and non-whites.
  • Locked chat with the people in the video watching it together and live commenting with the most cringe inducing shit I've ever fucking seen.
Currently it's at about 70% dislikes and sinking. The comments are tearing it to shit. For all the talk of diversity, one commenter from Brasil pointed out that there are no Brazilian YouTubers present. Sorry menino, you faggots don't wear hijabs and don't hate Trump enough. Better luck in 2019.

Easily the most insulting aspect & proof it's all corporate circle-jerking. Both show hosts would broadly and proudly call out their Fortnite playing if they actually did it just to score extra ratings and views, but haven't; instead you have two sell-outs shilling the worst aspect of "latest thing" in a desperate bid to be relevant.

I’m going to argue this point a bit, as I’ve seen people both here and on youtube acting like celebrities and late night show hosts were just introduced into Rewind this year. If you look back to other Rewind videos, they’ve had appearances from other celebs and late night show hosts such as the Rock, Colbert, and Fallon. And while I completely agree that they’re not at all the faces of YouTube, I still think that they belong in Rewind.

But make no mistake, they don’t belong in Rewind the way they’re currently presented. They show the celebrities doing their own thing separately from all the YouTubers in the videos, which is in my opinion the main issue. If anything, they actually need to go out of their way to connect these people together, as getting celebrities to interact with YouTubers shows how the platform can truly elevate anyone.

YouTube can't keep up this cognitive dissonance routine. They antagonize and police regular people while fellating media conglomerates.

I can see a lot of people who get linked to a "funny" James Corden or Jimmy Fallon video, especially those that focus on user submitted video, who don't browse much further. That could be who those segements are for.

A lot of people, including influential people in both real life and gay internet shit, look at this site. Remember that even people in North Korea visit this den of crippling autism. I still like to think that one Nork browser is Kim Jong Un.

They can never admit it however; if they have to acknowledge this place or the info we present they'll usually play it off by saying they heard it second hand instead of seeing it first hand because they're lurkers or members here. The obvious exception would be if they're someone like Felix who has copious amounts of "fuck you" money.
