Does disney realize that the girl had amnesia and was gonna die had ralph not interfered right?

Yeah that bit was kind of eye-rolling, especially since a good majority of the Disney Princess were literally saved by Men in their respective franchises. And they seem to just sit around in a playroom all day.

The trailer gave me a cold feeling, of company endorsement, crossover marketing, and then on top of that the mysterious African Lady who seems to know everything. A reference to the Matrix? Didn't I just see that in Detroit Beyond Human?

The "comedy" seems like the same overly obvious stuff and in your face references that caused me to stop watching TV and movies in the first place.

I just get none of the feeling I got with the original trailer.

Ads and Disney fellating themselves as usual.

There were two things I was thinking during this trailer.
1: Does this mean all that lesbian Disney Princess Porn is now canon?
2: Where the fuck is Kida? Sure you got some Polynesian chick, and some others, but not the Queen of fucking Atlantis?!
Hahaha this whole film is just one big reason for Disney to jerk themselves off. LOOK KIDS, IRON MAN! STORMTROOPERS! PRINCESSES!

I CLAPPED! I CLAPPED WHEN I SAW IT!
That RLM quote/meme wasn't funny even when it was new.

As for the movie, I'll probably pass. It just seems to be Disney letting all the building-up steam go. And I'm just not too interested in it.

You're not alone in noticing that. There's a lot of us who think Disney is simply sweeping that film under the rug these days. There was a recent podcast where John Sanford, who was head of story on Atlantis (and later co-directed Home on the Range), thought the problem with Atlantis and why it wasn't successful was because they chose not to explain away how the Atlantians power works via the crystal, suggesting how plot-driven over character driven the film was...

They have Pocahantas and Mulan, who are not royalty, but have never included Princess Eilonwy. And given that The Black Cauldron is the most notorious of their flops because it nearly bankrupted the studio, yeah, we're not supposed to remember those movies.

Sad really (I recall some bothering to suggest why not Maid Marian, of course she's not even human, or a princess, but you know, it takes all kinds).

It just sounds like the movie is trying super hard to pander to tumblrinas.

So apparently now it's feminist to dress in pajamas and eat junk food? Man, princesses back in the day had standards.

This looks like it's going to be shit, but then again I never saw the first one.
First movie's not one of Disney's worst, but be warned that the video game cameos are mostly at the beginning of the film.

As for the first point, nearly every Disney sequel is shit. So unless the trailers are just pulling of the same old "make the movie shittier than it actually is" bullshit, you might as well keep that little fact in the back of your mind.

The first movie looked like shit to me too, which is why I never saw it.

I'm like super late to any discussion in here, but in terms of the "lol men save us a lot" self-depreciating joke, one: Why's Merida there, then? Her whole spiel was "I don't need a man to make my own decisions, Mooooom, I'm going to remain a princess for a while longer!" And two: Mulan doesn't work with that joke because she saved China. She had aid from men, yes, but they were her comrades, her equals. That's why she married Shang Li and not because she had to as a woman.

Oh, and three: Moana may have had a demigod with her on her journey, but she still did a lot of stuff on her own accord and they mostly tag-teamed. It was a personal journey of self-discovery for a reason (yes, the original script had it as Maui's journey and she was just tagging along, but they changed it to make her the protagonist). And also four: Belle's the original (original modern?) feminist Disney princess for a reason, or are we going to sweep that under the rug, too?

It's like the people who work for Disney don't understand their established characters. Also Shrek 3 handled the concept of princesses better despite being a mediocre movie at best, so I'm just going to pretend this is Disney trying to out-do Dreamworks when they got beat to the punch in terms of "princesses LOL" by over two decades.
