I'm not a Star Trek fan by any stretch, but I did see a few episodes and half paid attention when an old roommate would put them on in the living room. The absolute worst one (which is also probably one of the worst tv episodes I've seen) was the Star Trek Voyager episode, Course: Oblivion.
Apparently there's some connection to a previous episode, but it's not all that important in the grand scheme of things. Basically, the characters realize they're biologically-unstable clones of the real Voyager crew, and the episode is just them slowly getting sick and dying. It's incredibly depressing to watch these virtuous and generally-upstanding characters suffer and die slow, agonizing deaths and watch while their crew mates and friends suffer the same fate. They try to send out a distress signal, but by the time the actual Voyager crew reach it, there's nothing left as the duplicate crew and their ship has fully disintegrated. They don't get saved, and no record of them existing is ever made. It's just fucking sad and upsetting to watch. Misery porn, basically. I'm sure a bunch of people probably think it's super deep and mature, but it's not. It's just doom and gloom for its own sake.
